It’s a new year on Synergy! The roster has been shaken up a bit, and the competition may do so even more, as there are not one but TWO tournaments set to unfold in the weeks ahead, with a Round Robin tournament beginning tonight and the annual Global Challenge scheduled for Infinity.
Alan Wallace retained the World Title at Horizons, but a new challenger already awaits, with the upstart Angelica Vaughn set to face him at Infinity. They will be on opposite sides of the ring tonight as they face off in cooperative action in the main event.
We also have the first two matches of the Round Robin tournament, the debut of a new face, and the return of Holden Orson! And of course, the first Synergy of the year means it is time for a new Creative Director!
Your Synergy coverage begins, now…
- Vinegar, Hans, and Jay give us the usual intro that transitions into childish bickering. [/CopyPaste]
We begin with the annual announcement of the new Creative Director.
Announce team has fun with the fact that both men in this opening bout wear masks. Jay is of the opinion that they both must be ugly as sin, to which Lieberjosch reminds him that we already know what Orson looks like, even if we wished we didn’t.
The bell rings and the returning Holden Orson immediately takes control of the newcomer Wrestley McWrestleface with a side headlock. Orson shoots him to the ropes and sends him to the mat with a shoulder block. Wrestley bounces right back up and runs the ropes, ducking under a lariat attempt, and then bouncing off the opposite ropes. Orson executes a hip toss, but McWrestleface does some sort of flippy shit, and lands on his feet, before jumping up and connecting with a pele kick that finds its mark on the top of Orson’s head. Wrestley with the cover, but only gets a one-count.
Wrestley pulls Orson to his feet, but is surprised by a European Uppercut that staggers him and sends him back against the ropes. Orson connects with multiple knee lifts that find their mark to the sternum of McWrestleface, before snapmaring him over and then snapping off a quick kick that connects with the neck of the high-flying newcomer. Orson quickly down to a knee and applies a dragon sleeper, but Wrestley throws his leg back and kicks Orson in the face, breaking the hold before the hipster has a chance to lock it in. Wrestley rolls backwards into a handstand, locking his legs around the head of Orson, and then proceeds to send him to the mat with a headscissors takedown. Orson back up but eats a spinning heel kick that sends him to the mat. Another cover by Wrestley, but again Orson kicks out at one.
McWrestleface bounces off the ropes and attempts a leg drop, but Orson rolls out of the way. The two men back to their feet simultaneously, but Orson connects with a superkick that damn near knocks Wrestley out of his boots. Orson pulls the high-flyer to his feet, connecting with another kneelift that doubles him over. Double underhook by Holden, lifting Wrestley into the air, and bringing the neck and back of his head down hard across the hipsters knee with a neckbreaker. Orson pulling Wrestley back to his feet, but quickly sends him back to the mat with a German suplex. Orson pops his hips and rolls through, pulling Wrestley back up to a vertical base, but just as quickly sends him overhead with another German suplex. Holden pops and rolls once more, jerking Wrestley back to his feet, before depositing him onto the back of his head once more, but this time bridges into a cover. Count of two-and three-quarters, but somehow, McWrestleface manages to get his shoulder up at the last second, and this match continues.
Holden pulls McWrestleface back to his feet, before slapping him across the chest with an open-handed slap that echoes throughout the arena, and is obviously followed by everyone “whooooing”, because ‘Space Mountain’ somehow isn’t closed yet. Orson shoots Wrestley to the ropes, lifting him into the air once he returns and connecting with a reverse atomic drop. A forearm to the small of the back leads to Orson executing a scorpion deathdrop. He makes the cover, but Wrestley stays alive by kicking out at two-and-a-half.
Orson pulls Wrestley to his feet and lifts him into the air, snake eyes onto the top turnbuckle. McWrestleface stumbles out of the corner and Orson connects with a boot to the gut. He motions to the crowd that its over, and then lifts Wrestley into the air, looking for the Jan Wnek Driver. Wrestley floats out of the hold and lands behind of Orson. Grabbing him around the waist, Wrestley runs Holden into the ropes, rolling him up in a pin attempt. Orson kicks out, but upon getting back to his feet, is turned inside-out with a clothesline. Wrestley steps through the ropes and out to the ring apron, springboards off the top rope and connects with a 450 moonsault. Cover by Wrestley, but Orson kicks out at two.
McWrestleface climbs to the top rope, waiting on Orson to get to his feet. Once he does, Wrestley takes flight, landing onOrson’s shoulders. Holden doesn’t allow any sort of flippy shit though, as he drops Wrestley hard to the mat with a Bautista bomb. Count is made, but Wrestley again somehow manages to kick out, and Holden’s eyes tell the whole story: he’s stunned.
Orson drags Wrestley to his feet and whips him to the ropes. Holden bends at the waist for a back-body drop, but Wrestley slides across his back and lands behind him. A kick to the back of Holden’s knee buckles him, allowing Wrestley to grab his arm and send him to the ropes. Tilt-a-whirl backbreaker, and both men are down in the ring.
Wrestley using the ropes to pull himself to his feet, as the crowd is really getting behind this exciting newcomer. He slowly climbs to the top rope, as Holden begins to stir. Holden finally to his feet, and Wrestley jumps off, connecting with Upside Down. Wrestley back to his feet and pulls off a beautiful standing shooting star press as he connects with Boy, You Turn Me. He slowly steps through the ropes and out to the apron, as Holden makes his way back to a vertical base. Wrestley connects with Inside Out, and the crowd is completely out of its mind now, as they know what those three moves are a set-up for.
Wrestley clutching at the small of his back as he slowly makes his way to his feet. Stepping through the ropes, he slowly climbs to the top rope, as Orson begins to stir. Wrestley motions out towards the crowd, before taking flight with Round and Round. Orson sees it coming, making his way to his feet and blasting Wrestley with Black. Both men down once more, with Orson rolling over and finally draping an arm across the chest of Wrestley. McWrestleface gets the shoulder up, but it’s a split second too late, and this opening match goes to the returning hipster.
Winner: Holden Orson
Time: 7:46
The two men struggle to their feet and stare at one another, with Holden slightly nodding at McWrestleface, before exiting the ring and heading up the ramp.
We are shown footage from earlier tonight of the #CoolKids arriving at the arena.
Pierce charges, but Zane connects with a right hand. Pierce staggers, and Zane hits a spinning neckbreaker, then floats into the cover, but Pierce kicks out right away. Pierce pops right up, but Zane whips him into the corner, then charges and clotheslines him against it. Zane whips him into the opposite turnbuckle and charges again, but Pierce steps out of the way and Zane smashes into the corner. Zane staggers out and Pierce delivers a side suplex to him. Zane tries to get up, but Pierce hits a swinging neckbreaker, and floats into the cover, but Zane kicks out at one and a half.
Pierce pops to his feet and stomps on Zane, kicking him to the side of the ring, and then uses the ropes to push himself in the air before slamming his knee into Zane’s back. Pierce attempts to apply a crossface, but Zane grabs the ropes and uses them for leverage to buck Pierce through them to ringside. Zane rolls out to ringside, but Pierce dropkicks him right away, knocking Zane back into the ringpost. Zane stumbles at ringside, and Pierce hops up onto the apron and springboards off the ropes back towards him, only for Zane to swat him out of the air with a two-handed sledge strike. Zane throws Pierce back into the ring and slides in, standing over Pierce for a moment before starting to pull him back up, but Pierce stands up quickly and lifts Zane into Signing Off, and both men are down!
Sam Green starts the ten count, and at seven Pierce pulls himself up with the ropes. Zane staggers up and Pierce swings for a punch, but Zane blocks it and delivers a hard right, staggering Pierce. Zane goes to whip him across the ring, but Pierce reverses and goes for a backdrop, but Zane floats over, then picks Pierce up into the Egregious Use of Force! Zane covers, one, two, Pierce gets his shoulder up!
Zane rolls Pierce over and pulls him into a side headlock. Pierce flails his arms, but manages to elbow Zane in the chest and knock him away. Pierce charges, but Zane boots him down. Zane pulls Pierce up and shoves him into the corner, then stomps him to the mat. Zane takes a step back to catch his breath for a second, then pulls Pierce and sets up him up on the top rope, then goes for a superplex, but Pierce fights him, and Zane shoves him completely off the turnbuckle to ringside, and Pierce crashes hard into the ground! Zane drops over the ropes to ringside, and he pulls White up and shoves him into the barricade before driving his shoulder into his chest. Zane stomps Pierce down as Sam Green is counting both men out, and Zane rolls back into the ring to break the count before rolling right back out. He pulls Pierce up and whips him into the steel steps, and the impact echoes through the arena.
Zane presses Pierce over his head and hurls him back over the top rope into the ring in an impressive display of power. Zane climbs back into the ring and Pierce is trying to get up, but Zane kicks him back down. Zane pulls Pierce up and sets up the Purge, only for Pierce to duck out and pull Zane into a cradle, and he has his feet in the ropes for leverage, unseen by the referee as Pierce steals the three!

Backstage, the Grey-Lacklans have an important meeting.
Maggie makes a point of raising the Cross Hemisphere Championship while her eyes dart between the two men, an unspoken message being delivered. As she hands it off, Rydell rushes in for a spear that knocks her off her feet. Raab shakes his head in disgust at the cheap shot and grabs Rydell off of the champ. Spinning The Virus around, The Iceman lays into him with boxing punches, driving Rydell across the ring. Rydell ducks a punch, grabbing Raab's leg for a dragon screw that sends Raab tumbling away.
Maggie clobbers Rydell from behind by boxing his ears before driving a jumping knee into his back. Rydell stumbles into a corner, and Maggie follows it up with a big splash. As Rydell falls backward out of the corner, Maggie follows up with a hammerdrop elbow then goes for a cover, but Raab breaks it up at the two.
Raab and Lockheart square off now, and The Silverheart motions for him to make his move. He feigns a jab, but when Maggie moves to counter with a Judo hand strike, Raab leans away, the blow glancing off his chest. With her off balance, Raab grabs her and nails a release German suplex and covers for a quick one count before Maggie kicks out and scoots away.
Both competitors back to their feet, and they're about to square off again when Rydell comes out of nowhere with a Tip of the Spear to Konrad that drives him into Maggie and knocks her from the ring. Maggie hits the floor at ringside with a hard thump, and Dave goes to climb the turnbuckle closest to Raab. A diving spear drives Konrad back down just as soon as he makes it shakily to his feet. Rydell grabs Raab in the Rydell Lock and squeezes with all his might, snarling as he locks it in.
Raab is groaning in pain, and Rydell would have it, but Lockheart has recovered enough to get back into the ring. She tries for a Lacrimosa, but the angle is wrong and she can't quite hit it. It is enough to break the hold, however, forcing Rydell and Raab to separate as they both roll away to opposite sides of the ring. Maggie stands between them as they both grab ropes and start to climb to their feet. She looks at both in turn, then makes a decision as she rushes at Rydell and hits a step-up Enziguri that nearly takes his head off.
She doesn't get a chance to capitalize, though, because here comes Raab with an Ice Storm! He rolls Maggie up, but Rydell is there with a desperation basement dropkick. He drags Konrad to his feet, whips him into the ropes, and hits the Virus of Life!
LUNAR ECLIPSE! Rydell never saw it coming, and the Cross Hemisphere Champ covers for the three!
Winner: Maggie Lockheart

As "Paparazzi" by Lady GaGa plays, purple strobe lighting pulsates through the arena. Roxy makes the crowd wait a few eager moments before emerging from behind the entrance curtain. Roxy appears, grinning, and takes a moment to bend at the waist and slide her oversized sunglasses down to the tip of her nose, rotating her upper body from far left to right and soaking in all of the fans cheering for her before standing up straight and strutting toward the ring, blowing kisses to everyone around her along the way.
Along with her updated entrance gear, reminiscent of Christina Aguilera's outfit from her infamous Dirrty music video with its gleaming purple leather chaps running down her toned legs, Roxy is also wearing a tight white tee shirt over her bikini-style top, tied in a knot above her belly button. OIn the front of the shirt is a picture of UGWC legend Eden Morgan and the words "RIP" and "??? - 2018" in comic sans font. In her right hand she carries a beer pitcher filled to the brim with water. Her left hand blows kisses to the fans as she struts past them all, headed to the ring
As she walks toward the ring and the purple strobe lights continue to swirl through the air, fans reach over the barricade attempting to touch her, but she deftly avoids any contact from them and shoots dirty looks at the ones who get closest. Once in the ring, she sets the pitcher down in the center of the ring and makes a slow, deliberate show of removing her various jewelry and sunglasses, handing them off to Hazel East as if she were tossing her keys to a valet driver. After getting rid of her sunglasses and other adornments, Roxy grabs the pitcher and holds it aloft over her head for all the fans to see, while twirling in a circle, showing off her tribute to the late Miss Morgan. Then, she tips the pitcher upside down and lets the water cascade over the front of her body, soaking the fabric of the shirt fully and making it cling to her skin, nearly translucent. Flipping the plastic pitcher to ringside, she then grabs the collar of her shirt ad rips it away from her body, shredding it like tissue and flinging the wet remnants into the crowd as she stands center stage with her gleaming wet bosom shining in the spotlight.
Roxy then makes her way to her corner, tossing her hair back over her shoulders and soaking in all the flash bulbs popping around her.
Bordy makes her typical entrance as Hans notes she might actually have been outstaged for once and the other two express their disgust with Roxy.
Bordy flings herself at Roxy to open the match, knocking her down and clawing at her as commentary notes that Bordy, despite being the Chaos Champion, will need to try to remain within the rules tonight, as a disqualification would cost her the match and hurt her standing in the Round Robin. Roxy shoves Bordy off and gets back to her feet, catching a kick attempt and countering into a dragon screw takedown. Roxy holds the leg and kicks at the knee before flinging the leg down to the mat. Roxy drops a leg and covers, but Bordy shoves her off.
Roxy rolls right to her feet, coming off the ropes and connecting with a spinning heel kick. Bordy stays on her feet, but staggers back into a corner. Roxy handsprings into a back elbow, slamming against Bordy in the corner, and Bordy slumps to the bottom turnbuckle. Roxy charges in and connects with the Kitty Buster. Roxy yanks Bordy out of the corner and steps on her stomach as she crosses over her to the corner, climbing to the top and leaping into the air with a moonsault. She hooks the leg after the impact, but Bordy kicks out at two.
Roxy starts to bring Bordy back to her feet, but Bordy quickly reaches up and grabs her hair, pulling her into a sloppy looking X-factor. Roxy rolls towards the outside, but Bordy grabs her by the leg to stop her, then stands and starts violenting kicking Roxy in the head through the ropes. Hazel East starts a five count and at four physically backs Bordy away. Bordy glares at Hazel with irritation as Roxy tumbles off the apron to ringside.
Bordy rolls to the outside and goes to pull up Roxy, but Roxy springs to life, driving her shoulder into Bordy’s chest and slamming her back into the side of the ring. Roxy rolls in to break the count and right back out before grabbing Bordy and whipping her into the steel steps. Roxy demands a fan in the front row tell her who the real Queen of Chaos is, but the large fan has a burrito in his mouth and Roxy gives him a disgusted look and tells him to nevermind. She pushes Bordy into the ring before sliding in and covering, and Bordy again gets her shoulder up at two.
Roxy drags Bordy a little closer to the corner and stomps on her a couple times before stepping through the ropes and climbing the turnbuckle. She reaches the top and steadies herself, but Bordy springs back to her feet and runs up the turnbuckle, grabbing Roxy in a bear hug and pushing forward, sending both women off the turnbuckle and crashing to ringside!
The crowd can’t believe what just happened, Hazel East is starting the count as neither woman is moving and commentary is speculating on the impact of a double countout on the tournament. Both women begin to stir, Hazel is at seven, but as she counts nine both roll in. They slowly start to get back up, and Roxy chops Bordy in the chest. Bordy reels, but returns with a slap across the face. Roxy delivers another chop, Bordy returns with a slap that rakes Roxy across the face and causes her to stumble away into the ropes, but Roxy suddenly charges back and knocks Bordy down with a hip attack. Bordy tries to get back up, but Roxy has her by the hair and hits the Muff Diver. Roxy covers, and Bordy kicks out at two, only for Roxy to transition directly into the DTF! Bordy cries out in pain, but she stretches out and grabs hold of the ropes!
Roxy grabs Bordy by the legs and yanks her back towards the center of the ring. She goes to reapply the DTF, but Bordy elbows her off and rolls away. Bordy getting back to her feet, Roxy kicks her in the gut and sets up the Double-D DT, but Bordy twists out of it and into L’etreinte de Dieu! Bordy collapses on top of Roxy for the three!
Winner: Le Bord de Dieu
Time: 19:38
The crowd applauds the efforts of both women as commentary speculates what the rest of the tournament will bring.
The #CoolKids enter first to a massive cheer. The cheer is especially focused on the 2018 Face of the Year and #1 Contender to the World Championship, Angelica Vaughn, who is greeted with alternating cheers of “An-gie!” and “Champ”. She acknowledges it with a slight blush, a smile and a wave as Kenzi applauds her. After a few moments the two walk to the ring as thunderous applause and cheers continue. They continue through getting checked by Head Referee Owen Peterson.
The mood noticeably changes when Phrixus Deimos music starts and the resident boogeyman of UGWC walks out onto the stage. If he cares about the reaction he gets, he gives no indication of it as he walks to the ring as if the crowd isn't there and shows apparent indifference to both Cool Kids and their “plus one” as he gets checked by Peterson.
If Deimos reaction is cold, then the response to the World Champion is indisputably hostile. Not that he cares. “Vain” Alan Wallace enters like a conquering hero, with a wide smile on his face and the World Championship held high. He marches in as if he's a Roman general returning to the “Eternal City” for his Triumph. He strides down to the ring with the World Championship over his shoulder, enters and allows Owen Peterson to do his checks, after which he hands him the World Championship and goes to his corner. He casts a quick look and smirk at Kenzi, then steps out and lays his arms across the corner.
Owen hands the World Championship to Mitchell Dennis, turns and calls for the bell. Wallace steps into the ring, closely followed by Kenzi. Wallace stands in his corner for a few seconds, mocks Kenzi and then turns and tags Deimos in before he steps back out. Deimos looks at his partner, clearly unsurprised by the occurrence, then steps into the ring.
Kenzi points at the World Champion and demands that he enter the ring and face her, but he brushes her off and drops to the floor. Kenzi glares at Vain, but never gets the chance to say anything else as Deimos yanks her up into a fireman’s carry and promptly drops her onto her face with a modified DDT. He leaps over, grabs her around her waist and then dumps her back onto her head with a belly to back suplex.
Out on the apron, Angelica yells encouragement to her partner. “Vain” looks at the action in the ring and let's out an exaggerated yawn, which draws a disgusted glare from Angelica. Deimos pays him no mind as he pulls Kenzi back up and throws her into the far corner with a head and arm suplex. He stalks over to the corner and proceeds to put the boots to her until she's crumpled on the mat.
He pulls Kenzi up and throws her into his corner, then walks over the drives another boot into her stomach. He bends over to pull her up when he's slapped on the back, hard by “Vain”. The former two-time World Champion looks up at the current World Champion with as close to a glare as Deimos allows himself to display, but steps out anyway. Vain steps in and pulls Kenzi up, then shoves her back into the corner and patronizingly pats her on the face before he takes a step back and gestures for her to take a shot at him. She stands up, glares at him and lunges out of the corner. He rolls under her arms, pops up and slaps Deimos on the chest, then steps out.
Deimos steps back in turns to look at Vain, but is promptly rolled up by Kenzi for a quick two. He kicks out, but Kenzi pulls him up and hits him with a heel kick which she follows up with a back elbow that staggers him into his own corner. She takes a wild swing at Vain, which he ducks but which allows Deimos to get out of the corner. Kenzi turns around to pursue him, but is suddenly yanked downward by her hair. She slams hard into the mat as Owen leaps in and tells Vain to keep his hands to himself. He laughs at Owen but backs off with his hands up as Deimos momentarily smirks at Vain, then turns and drives his foot into Kenzi’s face.
She sprawls backwards and falls into her own corner. Angie reaches down and tags herself in, then steps through. Deimos takes a step back to assess his new challenge, but appears to be unimpressed. Angelica steps forward and smiles at Deimos, then the two lock up. They push each other around for a few moments before Angie suddenly disengages, drops and takes him down with a drop toe hold then kips up to her feet, steps back and drops him with a scissors kick when he gets to his knees. She promptly locks him in a side-headlock, then whips him over back into the mat on his back. Deimos counters with a quick headscissors which Angelica kicks out of and leaps back to her feet.
Deimos stands up and shakes his head, although it’s hard to tell what he means by it. The two lock up again and Deimos tries to spin around behind her and wrap her up for a Suplex, but she drops through his grip and gets him with a quick roll up. He kicks out at two but gets hit before he can move as Angelica slams with a senton and when he sits up she barrages him with YES kicks, then bounces back off of the ropes and almost takes his head off with a Sick kick. She backs up and lines up to put him away. Deimos drags himself up to his hands and knees and promptly eats #Vaughenmous. It flips him over onto his back. Angelica drops on top of him for the pin and gets a two before Vain crashes into her with a flying elbow drop.
He leaps to his feet and smiles at his handiwork and then walks back to his corner. Owen watches as both Deimos and Angelica crawl to their corners. Deimos tags in first and Vain steps into the ring. He runs across the ring to intercept Angelica, but is too late as Grey gets the hot tag from Vaughn, she goes after Wallace with reckless abandon. Months of pent up frustration pour itself out as she casts herself against the World Champion, over and over again. Wallace remains cool under fire, biding his time before countering an attempted Supergirl Punch and destroying the raging CoolKid with a “Curtain Call” from out of nowhere. Wallace gloats over his handy work as he starts to go for the cover, only to see Grey walking down the ramp, along with the thousands of other fans in attendance. Wallace goes into the pin, but Owen is distracted and confused by the Kenzi double. Vain looks up at him and pounds the mat to demand the 1, 2, 3!
In a fit of frustration, he gets up and grabs Owen Peterson to tell him that he has the match won, but the referee seems confused by the new arrival who looks almost exactly like Grey. The woman gets onto the apron and hands the Champion a message. Instead, he tosses it on the mat and grabs her, yanking her off her feet. Suddenly, the champion walloped from behind by a Supergirl Punch that connects this time, staggering him. As he staggers in an attempt to stay on his feet, Grey springboards off the ropes and hits him with “The Money Maker.” The force of his own move sends him corkscrewing into his own corner. With the champion laid out in the corner of the ring, Grey takes the fallen message and stuffs it in his mouth as she stands over him for a moment more with a smile on her face, before stepping over him and tagging in her partner, and number one contender to the UGWC World Title.
Deimos reaches over and tags himself in and enters in time to take a dropkick that drives him into the corner. Angelica follows it up with a cannonball and leaps up onto the top rope. Deimos rolls from the corner but doesn’t get a break as Vaughn immediately slams into him with a flying elbow drop. The moment she hits, she’s back on her feet and darts to the corner. She waits for Deimos to stir and as soon as he does, he eats at #Vaughnemous. Three seconds later, Vaughn racks up another win.

Travis Pierce vs Zane Scott

Dave Rydell vs Konrad Raab vs Maggie Lockheart

Le Bord de Dieu vs Roxy Cotton

Angelica Vaughn and Kenzi Grey vs Alan Wallace and Phrixus Deimos
Winners: Angelica Vaughn and Kenzi Grey
