Is it just me, or did Vinegar and Hanson really come through tonight? Much more verbose than normal, they really did an award winning run tonight.
And then Hanson got fired. LoL
"Damarest swings out with the chair, and takes The Headliner down again, but not before Jet manages to rise with an uppercut that sends Damarest flying onto his back, relinquishing the chair, which jet quickly grabs...
Hanson: Embrace the darkside!"
my favorite part^^^
Jet cracked Raenius' mask! How epic is that shit?

wait, I'm confused about that whole intro thing....is that like the unnofficial posts we made back when we started in GIW? or if we are doing a wiki entry, can we copy the ones on GIW's old wiki page? cause I feel that sums up my JK character perfectly

I know, thats a very good poitn. And really I am so pleased everyone is so hyped about it. more announcements will be made over coming days to keep you informed of any major changes, and as Steve said there are not that many.
BoolZ mentioned a Purse system, and that is probably one of the biggest changes, and will be revealed and explained with good time for people to ask questions regarding it. Pretty much everything that we release over the next week has been discussed with Steve, R! and Matt over the past few weeks and months, and it should mean a real positive change that I think everyone will be excited about.
EDIT: And now I really am going to bed. Steve or I will answer any further questions sometime tomorrow. Thanks for your supports guys!

So, yeah, got to this eventually. Obviously no questions about the merge from me so I'm going to go straight onto the show.
To begin with I wasn't too sure about the opening segment. I think it kinda worked but with the main event being as it was it felt like it would have been better with Hastings. I know Jet laid down his own challenge but I think that would have been better placed on Sentinel, or, whatever we call it. Especially as Dirge didn't win.
First match. Firstly I want to congradulate JK. You've come a long way since you first showed up and your great title reign I think bears testiment to that. I liked how you handled the challenge even though it contradicted other things you had planned.
As for the match itself, while I reading it I thought it could really have done with being longer. The ending worked great as an ending but as the whole match it seemed just odd. However, seeing as how Travis wrote that along with practically the entire of the rest of the show it's all very much forgivable and was still an enjoyable if brief read.
BoolZ no show I think I would have been disappointed with if I hadn't already known it would happen. Travis vs BoolZ matches, no matter how many there have been are always enjoyable and I still like the feud because of it's longevity. I mean, why would two guys stop hating each other because they had one match?
Then the title match. If you'd told me it'd turn into a huge brawl with everyone, originally I'd have been skeptical. It worked though. It got me thinking about those weird as title matches you get, usually in TNA, where it's like, an elimination tag match for the title and you're left wondering who the hell claims the belt and why are those guys working together so well? This way created that same feeling of the epic final battle with none of the confusion about who the title contenders were. The fact that is was a blood bath (another thing I'm not always a huge fan of) worked in it's favour too.

I know a few people have voiced concerns about the opening segment, and I too initially was sceptical about the idea, but personally I think it was a magnificent opening to the show from my perspective.
The whole 'Resistance' arch was really a Red Herring thrown out there to keep the merge a shock. As Ichy has stated, he had inklings something was going to happen, but didn't expect it quite so soon. Which was part of my plan, in our current society, especially during the recent recession we have seen well known and loved names disappear without warning in a blink of an eye.
So why not GIW? I;ve known the Merge was coming for a while, and just wanted it to have the most impact.
The opening segment helped continue the Red Herring of the Resistance, because it suggested their was more to come after the PPV, whatever the result, and really makes people not consider the possibility of the end, despite a few nods to the possibility over recent weeks.
But also, although the Resistance was a red herring on my part, as it has no purpose in UGWC, The Covenant's storyline was not. 2010 to this point has been the coming of age of this group (in our world), their final awakening to power, and hopefully it is clear that tonight, despite the Main Event defeat which was yet another close one, they actually ended the night victorious.
Why? Because they did exactly what they said they were going to do, pretty much from the start, they destroyed GIW. Their entire arch in 2010 was to lead to this point.
And that I think made the opening segment even more interesting too, because it reinforced the Covenants mind set and principles, and I can't imagine they're just gonna lie dormant because of fed upheaval. (Although hopefully they will accept, that at least initially the owners and management have done nothing to provoke their wrath...yet.)
So I personally feel the segment was integral to this shows success in some ways, and want to thank Ichy and Ad for all the hard work they put in.

The opening segment. I feel nothing but pride that Dirge allowed me to mostly speak for him and gave me pretty much the reins. It speaks volumes to me that he respects my understanding of his character, that he only did the most minor of edits to the segment.
It was a pleasure to work on that segment with you and while it would have worked better had I won the Title (a bit of a bitter pill to choke down, but it was one hell of a match regardless) I still think that we can go in a multitude of directions based on that segment alone. There really wasn't much to change in it, you have an excellent handle on the Dirge character. I don't think I could have written Jet nearly as well as you wrote Dirge. You have my sincere thanks for doing the character such justice.
It was a great PPV and one hell of a way to wrap up GIW and bring about UGWC. I thought the segment at the end with Dexter Vines really wrapped it all together extremely well. (He always struck me as more than just an "interviewer"). I have to say though that I was NOT expecting Hanson to get canned. That surprised me.
Excellent work guys, everyone put in a great effort. Congratulations go to Steve for retaining again in another close one. They also go to Matt for winning the .Com Championship and completing the first "Grand Slam" in GIW History. Well done sir.
As always, my congratulations go out to R! and Tailz. Way to keep those Belts in the Family. ;D
Don't get comfortable with that Belt Steve. One of us in The Covenant is going to take it yet !
That entire story-arc with the destruction of GIW coming at the hands of The Covenant played out so well and was very enjoyable. Thanks for the vote of confidence Rob.
Why choose a lesser evil, folks? Dirge. Presidential candidate of the future.
