Name: Robert Ooley
Position: Head of UGWC Human Resources.
Role: Guides and manages the overall provision of Human Resources services, policies, and programs. Including but not limited to, entertainment professional relations, entertainment professional safety, welfare, wellness and health and entertainment professional services and counseling.
Biography: Robert Ooley was one of the original members of LWF when it opened in April 2001. By June, he had become the Commissioner, a position he held (with brief interruptions) for the remainder of his time in the federation. Ooley was usually aligned with Lock as part of his Regime and the pair were known as a team as The Puppet Masters. While he made a cameo appearance a couple years ago, Ooley's last appearance as an active member of the roster was in 2004.
Fast Facts about Robert Ooley:
- Ooley refers to himself in the third person as "Old Bob" however he will insist people refer to him as Robert Ooley (pronounced OOH-LAY, it's French, as he will remind you).
- Unless you are aligned with him, Ooley will never call you by your real name, instead using another name that he makes up. For example, a character called Phoenix was refered to by Ooley as "Tuscon", Arelas became "Arelost", Alan Fernandez became "Orlando Hernandez" and so on. Ooley was not always consistant in his use of nicknames.
- Ooley usually carries a baseball bat, which he calls "Louis" in reference to the Louisville Slugger brand.
- Ooley is known for his short temper and lack of patience.
- Ooley writes using a cornflower blue pen, which he is quite protective of.
- In 2002, LWF was invaded by a competing federation that had a Hardcore Title that was defended under 24/7 rules. Ooley knocked out the champion with his bat and won the title, to his surprise as he hadn't bothered to familiarize himself with the rules or champions of the invading fed. Ooley spent the rest of the night wandering backstage smacking people with the bat, and was disappointed when he didn't win anything else as a result.
- Ooley once won the World Title when he faced Arelas in a Napoleon's Revenge Match, the rules to which he refused to explain. On several occasions it appeared Arelas was about to successfully defend the championship, only for Lock, sitting at ringside, to "clarify" the rules of the match, giving the advantage back to Ooley, who eventually won. Years later when Arelas himself became commissioner, he revealed that he had looked up the match in the official LWF rulebook, only to find that the entry read "The rules change anytime Arelas has a chance to win."
- Once when one of the top faces won the Tag Titles by himself in a handicap match, Ooley declared himself the co-champion, abusing his power as commissioner (Ooley named their team "The 0wner and His Ass"). He spent title defenses reclined at ringside drinking beer and reading the newspaper, but would always ultimately ensure the defense was successful, and usually beat down his partner afterwards.
- On more than one occasion, a broadcast had to have its feed cut because of Ooley's out of control use of profanity during a temper tantrum, and sometimes had to have the image blurred or blacked out entirely because of something obsene he was doing, usually wearing a t-shirt saying something offensive about whoever he was feuding with.
