Hello everybody, I know I haven’t been around much, but I have discovered something I wanted to share with you all.
There is a browser based Wrestling Booking game called Journey of Wrestling (www.journeyofwrestling.com). This game can be played on any device that has access to the internet (though a keyboard and mouse are helpful for learning the intricacies) and the base game is completely free. (While playable there is a fair amount locked behind a one off payment, but even with limitations I think it’s a fun little game)
It is an easy to pick up and learn game that puts the WWE GM Modes to shame IMO. The graphics are merely 8-Bit, but I find them very charming. I have sunken many hours into it during lunch breaks, smoke breaks and evenings recently, and haven’t got bored yet.
If you happen to start a new game, and search for UGWC when asked to select a scenario, you’ll find a pretty up to date version of our roster to play with immediately. (the Calendar is pretty accurate to this year’s structure, however the only new PPV I have added is Keeper of the Keys, and kept some of the ones that are not happening this year). I have set the game to start at the first event of the year, Infinity.
I’ve set everyone as pretty much equal in terms of starting skills, put some traits on to everyone, and designed avatars for everyone. There are a few more higher rated in popularity than others (Yeah, Travis is one of the more popular, shock!), but the gulf isn’t huge by any means and would be easily rebalanced over a few shows of decent booking if you so wish.
Please note the traits I have selected are based on my own recollections of characters (not handlers) and may not match your expectations, but I have also tried to choose for the most part positive traits that will help you as players.
I have set the company's reputation to relatively low to give the game a challenge,so don't be expecting 5 star matches and segments out of the gate.
The free game is limited in some regards (no faction feuds, no rival companies to compete with, no ability to edit or create) but is still VERY playable.
The upgrade to the full game is roughly $15 (I’ve spent as much on lunch) and I have found it well worth it, the developer has been making periodic updates and editions over the past couple of years, and each have made the gameplay even more engrossing. It also unlocks access to a number of features.
I have tried to replicate things as best as I can, but there are some formats that cannot be replicated entirely at this point, the game doesn’t support our Outlast Format for instance, The Key’s are something you will have to keep track of yourself (but there is a Keeper of the Key’s match that you can add to the relevant PPV that makes a guaranteed Title shot at Horizons although I’m not sure how well this works), the Conquest Title is a lower card title but with the highest rank it can have, the rank being silver or above means there is segment named Option C that allows you to vacate a title for a shot at another. Winning Battleground now acts as a MitB style contract. Melee does not produce any specific reward, but as it is the PPV before Keeper of the Keys you can just add the winner to the aforementioned match. (But you can book a Tournament (Global Challenge) for Infinity by choosing the option in the booking segment)
I’ve been really excited to create our world for you all to try out, and I do hope that you all give it at least a try and a look over as I’ve tried to make it as accurate to our world as possible.
Further information and tips etc will follow below this post.
