[The scene opens and we are in a large, white room. Rows of chairs, filled with people fill the area, and they all seem impatient, whispering to one another, shuffling in their chairs, facing a table with a microphone attached to it on a small stage. Closer inspection reveals a few TV Camera’s to the back of the room, and a line of photographers in between the table and the front row.
After a few moments a couple of those seated obviously decide they have been looking at this empty table for too long and get up to leave. From the right hand side of the room, a lanky man in a suit runs up to them and seems to convince them to sit down, he then runs up to the stage, and bends down to the microphone. We then recognise this as Rob, the GIW intern, he begins to speak]
Rob – “Ladies and gentlemen, thank you so much for your patience, I assure you Global Impact Wrestling will have a representative here to answer all your questions very….very…soon. If you would just bare with us for a few more moments…”
[Rob’s sentence trails off, as something catches his eye towards the back of the room, and quickly dismounts from the stage and starts jogging towards the rear. Our view swings and focuses on a door at the back, and we can just make out a yellow head poking around the corner. It’s “The Blessed One” Travis Roberts’ agent eD cASe. Rob reaches him and places his hand on eD’s shoulder]
Rob – “Thank god you made it….this nearly turned into a complete PR disaster….can you believe they left the intern in charge of the Toxic Intent Post PPV press conference? And after everything that has happened in the last couple of days, the last thing we need is a Public Relations meltdown…wait a minute, where the hell is Travis”
eD – “OK breathe…Travis is just finishing up his smoke, he’s not happy being called at such short notice…”
Rob – “I know…it’s been one major clusterfuck…believe me we wouldn’t have called you guys if everything had gone to plan…Initially Cara was going to take the conference, but apparently there was some complications with Declan or something, and she had to run off…The Global Domination guys are all unavailable, Chris Austin, Brandon Brandon Brown and BoolZ are on a team building exercise, we can’t get hold of Andy Savana or Sean Jensen, Jack Ryans is in some meeting with the CIA…basically you were the last option…”
[eD looks around and we see Travis heading towards rob and himself, he quickly turns to Rob]
eD – “OK you might wanna keep that kinda stuff quiet around Travis…
[eD swings and turns to Travis, arms open and big cheesy grin on his face.]
eD – “HEY BIG GUY!...You have a nice smoke? There all ready for you in there…your adoring public, leading journalists in the Sports Entertainment world…and some from the major newspapers…”
Travis – “No less than ‘The Blessed One©’ expects …Travis Roberts takes it they have been briefed on the ground rules and expectations…”
Rob – “Ground rules?”
Travis – “This is the stuff ‘The Headliner ©’ pays you to take care of eD…OK it’s pretty simple, no member of the ‘press pack’ are to look into Travis Roberts eyes…None of them are to enquire about my private or personal life…and they must refer to me as ‘Mr Roberts’ at all times…”
[Rob turns and runs back into the room, we can hear some muffled words coming from within]
Travis – “Honestly eD, what the hell use are you to Travis Roberts? You must have known about this for days, yet you neglect to tell ‘The Blessed One ©’ about it until 30 minutes ago…AND you don’t give them the standard instructions…it’s almost as if you only just found out about it…pfft”
[Rob comes running back through the door, and beckons to Travis and eD to follow him. eD remains at the back of the room as Travis and Rob take to the stage]
Rob – “Once again thanks for your patience ladies and gentleman, and please welcome, Global Impact Wrestling’s representative for today’s post Toxic Intent press conference, ‘The Blessed One’ Travis Roberts. And I think we’ve wasted enough time let’s take the first question…I will motion to you, and then you will ask your question…”
[Rob Beckons to a man with thin glasses and even thinner lips, he stands to his feet]
Reporter – “Jeremy Faust, 1wrestling.com, Mr Roberts do you think that Global Impact Wrestling had a successful night at Toxic Intent?”
Travis – “Jeremy? Was it?...Travis Roberts cannot comment on PPV figures, or merchandising sales, or any of the financial details that people generally use to quantify ‘success’. But what ‘the Blessed One©’ can comment on is the events that happened that night, and considering GIW had ‘The Headliner©’, the greatest Icon in Sports Entertainment this millennia, on its PPV card…I’d say it was a pretty damn successful night for Global impact Wrestling…”
Reporter – “Shelia Banbridge, Lords of Pain…Mr Roberts, what were your views on the main event of Toxic Intent, some have called it one of the best in GIW history, how did you rate it…”
Travis – “It was a fair attempt, ‘The Blessed One©’ didn’t see anything special about the guys in that ring, Brandon Brown had obviously been carrying the gold too long, and it was Lord Deathman was the guy Cara chose to take the belt off of him, it all went pretty much as expected. It may have been ‘The Headliners©’ complete ambivalence to the situation, but I didn’t feel there was anything special in that match, nothing that competes with Travis Roberts’ highlight reel, that’s for sure…”
Reporter – “Eric Smith, Powerslam Magazine, If you believe what you just stated Mr Roberts, what does it say about your career that you were only booked second on the card?”
Travis – “Travis Roberts’ Career? It doesn’t say anything about it. It’s rare that the most talented in-ring performers are in the main-events, you guys all know that and complain about it constantly. That’s why ‘The Blessed One©’ is so special, not only is Travis Roberts charismatic and entertaining outside the ring, ‘The Headliner©’ is also the complete package inside the ring. None of you can try to tell Travis Roberts that his match with Randy Boolzian was less entertaining than the main event. It took BoolZ and Travis Roberts a short week to produce a match-up more entertaining than a feud that has been brewing for close to a month…”
Reporter – “Hun Li Sun, Japanese Wrestling Weekly, your match with BoolZ was highly anticipated in Japan, the fans in our country have not forgotten your legacy, and they are crazy about BoolZ, despite your defeat in the match, would you face Randy again?”
Travis – “Hun…Travis Roberts will face anyone GIW gives him, ‘The Blessed One©’ doesn’t duck any challenges. As for BoolZ, ‘The Headliner©’ would welcome the chance to step in the ring with him again, he’s one quick guy…not the smartest, but pretty quick. He’s made a name for himself now, with a PPV victory over Travis Roberts, the industry will be expecting big things of this guy, but if he doesn’t make smart decisions, he will fail. For instance, why did he stay in the ring, knowing the deal Cara Costello had put in front of ‘The Blessed One©’? Most intelligent guys would have high tailed it to the back when grabbing such a fortuitous victory, but BoolZ just waited around to be taken to a higher place courtesy of ‘The White Out(©’. As for Randy’s pick of friends in this place, that truly shows poor judgement on his part…”
Reporter – “Pete Swanson, Pro Wrestling Weekly, Mr Roberts, some may say it is your judgement that should be called into question. After all you not only alienated BoolZ, Austin and Brown with your action, but also the staggering force that is Global Domination when you refused their offer. Are you worried about the ramifications of making yourself an enemy of both sides?”
Travis *chuckles* - “Does ‘The Headliner©’ look worried to you? What the hell has Travis Roberts got to worry about, have you seen the two sides in this…war. Lets start with Global Domination shall we? A group led by a women,...that’s bad enough... but a women with so little business sense? She needed ‘The Blessed One©’ to make a success of her little project, to show that she could be a force to be reckoned with in the industry…but instead of doing the intelligent thing and begging me to lead her clueless monkeys into the light…she tried to make ‘The Headliner©’ audition? Any group led by someone with as little foresight as that women, are as much of a threat to ‘The Blessed One’ as a toddlers playdate.
As for Austin, Brown and BoolZ, they couldn’t team up and win a spelling bee, let alone dominate the company. Initially ‘The Blessed One©’ thought it would be Global Domination who would show the first signs of a strained relationship, but on this rare occasion ‘The Headliner©’ was wrong. In the locker rooms of United Center, as Global Domination celebrated their hollow victory, it was Austin and Brown that started tearing each other’s hair out They may all have talent, but they ain’t no team.
So as for Travis Roberts being the one with poor judgement, ‘The Blessed One©’ would have the refute these claims. The only misjudgement ‘The Headliner©’ could have made, would have been aligning the ‘TWiSTeD Icon©’ with either of those sinking ships, and allowing the legacy of Travis Roberts be dragged down with their tarnished reputations…”
Reporter – “Dan Arritt, LA Times, Mr Roberts, I’d like to take you off topic for one moment if you don’t mind…what do you know about the rumours that members of the GIW roster are involved in criminal activities?”
Travis – “Dan, Travis Roberts cannot tell you much more than you already know, rumours are spreading that a number of guys on GIW’s payroll are involved in a manner of things from knife crime to drug dealing. ‘The Blessed One©” can only assume these guys have taken one too many ‘sick bumps’, and their mental circuitry is all screwed up. Why anyone would risk their bodies, no matter how delusional they are, doing dumb shit like that, when they have to get in that ring with men trained to hone in on injuries and weaknesses every week, is beyond ‘The Headliner©’.”
Reporter – “Global Impact PLAYA, Freelance, Travis after your loss to BoolZ, are you worried about yoru forthcoming match with Sean Jensen? According to my sources, Jensen is one of the guys rumoured to be involved in illegal activities, some say he was involved in a shooting incident. Bearing this in mind, given your apparent ring rust, as displayed in your defeat to Randy Boolzian, and the fact this match is part of the hardcore tournament, are you worried that your lack of experience in such matches, and your opponent, ‘The Mad Hatter of Ultra Violence’s’ recent turn to a darker place spellsanother defeat for you?”
Travis – “Ah the PLAYA? The oh-so-insightful anonymous GIW tipster. ‘The Blessed One©’ was hoping you’d be here making a fool of yourself. Firstly, Travis Roberts is not suffering from ring rust, your mistake is common place, most people would display signs of ring rust had they been out of the ring for four years, let alone two of the years being comatose, but the one thing you haven’t taken into account PLAYA, is that ‘The Headliner©’ is not most people, Travis Roberts is ’Blessed’. That mistake can be forgiven, but your next is just a basic rookie error.
In any job, the first thing you do is research. Even ‘The Blessed One©’ has to do research, that’s why yours truly spent last two days watching Sean Jensen matches…don’t feel too sorry for ‘The Headliner©’, although it was a torturous experience, Travis Roberts chose this job, and watching Sean Jensen matches, just happened to be part of the job this week. The PLAYA on the other hand obviously has not researched ‘The Blessed Ones©’ past. For some misguided reason, The PLAYA seems to think Travis Roberts will be uncomfortable in a hardcore setting. It’s a fair point that most technically skilled wrestlers struggle in that kind of environment, but ‘The Headliner©’ is different, and if The PLAYA had bothered to do some research he’d have known that.
Travis Roberts is the ‘TWiSTeD[/i] High Commander©’, ‘The Headliner©’ was TWiSTiNG people’s minds and shedding their blood in new and imaginative ways, way back when Sean Jensen was just clinging to his mothers breast as she swung through the tree’s. ‘The Blessed One©’ is just as effective with weaponry and without rules, as he is without weapons and with rules. If you’d have bothered to do any research you’d have known that…
As for being worried about Sean Jensen, what the hell does Travis Roberts look like to you? A Fifteen Year Old Kid? Or maybe even his latest girlfriend? Cause they’re the only people who would be worried about Sean Jensen…Christ, ‘The Blessed One’ would not be surprised if he was involved in a shooting…the damn monkey would probably shoot his own foot off given a gun. That kid would certainly be naïve enough to handle a gun before facing the biggest match of his career. Travis Roberts has heard a few things he’s been saying, it’s nothing new to ‘The Headliner©’, it’s all been said and forgotten before, and why would ‘The Blessed One©’ take seriously anyone who, allegedly, thinks a small time drug deal will give him enough power to take control of the company? The kids the biggest joke in GIW…
No, let Travis Roberts correct that…he’s the second biggest joke in GIW, he’s trailing that airheaded girlfriend of his. Of all the deluded harpies Travis Roberts has known in this industry, she has to be simply the dumbest. I can understand why Nathaniel is there, he gets a paycheck, what the hell does that girl hope to achieve? She seems to be in some kind of long term hallucination, a world where Sean Jensen is an Icon beater, a man who cannot fail to win. ‘The Blessed One©’ pities Kat, hell Travis Roberts seen enough vacant, hollowed out women in my time, to be able to recognise the signs of a women looking to hit bottom…and with Sean Jensen she may have done just that.
At Sentinel all of ‘The New Resistance’ will no doubt descend upon ‘The Blessed One©’ in hollow attempts to fulfil their claim that Sean Jensen will be the next Hardcore Champion. Travis Roberts can see, looking around this room, that you are all intelligent people, and ‘The Blessed One©’ can tell you all know nothing short of a miracle will allow such a claim to materialise. It offends ‘The Headliner©’ that anyone would even consider Sean Jensen an obstacle, let alone a threat. At Sentinel, the first step will be made, in returning Travis Roberts back to the big time…”[/color]
[Travis stands and waves away any further questions. He then strides towards the back of the room, and out of the door eD skuttles behind him. We then focus on a group of reporters who didn’t get a chance to ask a question..]
Reporter #1 – “Who the fuck was that guy?”
Reporter #2 – “Fuck me if I know…”
[The other reporters all shrug, and the scene ends]
After a few moments a couple of those seated obviously decide they have been looking at this empty table for too long and get up to leave.
