[As the scene opens we can see we are in the backstage area of the GIW Arena, the very place that Sentinel will air from on Saturday night. Unlike the night of a show the backstage area is comparably desolate. A few technicians and labourers can be seen busying themselves for the weekends show, carrying out electrical tests, etc. Global Impact Wrestling’s Janitor Bones can be seen dragging his broom in a lacklustre manner across the hall floor, muttering under his breath all the while
Suddenly the double doors at the end of the backstage corridor burst open, and the atmosphere of boredom and mundane activities is blown away. The sunlight explodes into the darkened corridor, and through the specks of swirling dust, emerges Travis Roberts, eD cASe and Craig Futile. ‘The Blessed One’ is at the head of the group, wearing his usual leather jacket and Aviator Glasses combination, flanked by eD to his right and Craig to his left. As they come closer we can hear their conversation]
Travis – “Look, ‘The Blessed One’ is down with this whole idea of focussing more, but ‘The Headliner’ still doesn’t understand why he has to come down here to train. The gym here is inadequate to Travis Roberts’ needs, there is far more advanced equipment back home…”
Craig – “Travis, I know how much you hate leaving the house, but it was your choice to be a Pro Wrestler. You gotta come here because you gotta make this Arena your environment, you gotta know this place better than anyone else. And that all starts in the gym…”
Travis – “No-one uses the gym here…what the hell is Travis Roberts gonna learn in there, it’s not exactly top class espionage is it?”
eD – “You’re not here to spy! You need to be subtle, and you are a lot of things Travis…but subtle isn’t one of them…”
Travis – “Watch yourself Little Man, Craig has earned the right to speak to ‘The Headliner’ that way. Do you want me to send you back to look over that damn penguin? Anyway what’s the point of this little jaunt if it isn’t fact finding…”
Craig – “The Revolution is coming, these are the first steps towards the uprising, but to be at the head of that which you must manufacture, you must entwine yourself in the very fabric of this place. You lead the revolution in TFC…because you were TFC. You must now become synonymous with Global Impact Wrestling. For the overhaul you wish to undertake, for the changes in attitude you wish to instil, those you wish to lead, must think of you when they think of Global Impact Wrestling…”
Travis – “You forget, Travis Roberts has the chance to be entered into a vote to take on The Global Heavyweight Champion, if ‘The Blessed One’ triumphs, his name will be synonymous with GIW, ‘The Headliner’ have the honour of carrying the most prestigious prize in the industry…”
Craig – “You don’t need me to point out how many variables are involved in that, not to mention the possibilities a vote pose, but even if you did win that title you wouldn’t have the base needed for The Revolution. Phase I of the revolution involves not only the in ring performers, but also the guys that make GIW tick…”
[At this very moment the group are passing Bones the janitor and Craig grabs him and throws his arm around his shoulders and positions him in front of Travis. Bones drops his mop, stumbles, and cannot look Travis directly in the eyes]
Craig – “You know who this guy is? You know his name?”
Travis – “The guy sweeps up garbage after the show…why the hell would ‘The Blessed One’ know his name? No offence to you…sparky…you do a very…important…job”
Craig - “Go ahead…tell him your name…”
Bones *Starts breathing heavily*– “I’m….ummmm…not used….to….ummm…..talking to the….big guys…”
Craig – “Go ahead…Travis is a good guy…”
Bones *Almost hyperventilating*– “OK….my…name…is…Bones. And I just wanted to say…I am such a big fan of….you Mr Roberts…”
Travis – “Well at least we know you’re not one of those retarded janitors then…”
Bones *giggles creepily under his breath* - “I was wondering…would….you…sign….this[/b]?”
[At this moment Bones tears open his jump suit, and thrusts his hairy nipple towards Travis, in the blink of an eye Craig Futile knocks the Janitor out, and then props him up againt a door frame until he awakens]
Travis – “Just explain again how connecting with these people will help ‘The Headliners cause?”
Craig – “OK…maybe our friend Bones was not the best example. But these nameless faces you see week in, week out…they are the guys that make Sentinel happen! The guys up in the lights, the guys in the production truck, the ring crew even the lunch lady…if you want to start a Revolution Travis, these guys are just as important as the in ring combatants.”
[At that moment Jason Reeves comes quick pace around the corner with his own camera crew, and a look of glee crosses his face, he speeds up considerably and places himself in front of Travis and his posse]
Jason – “Travis do you have a few moments to answer some questions?”
Craig – “I’m sure Mr Roberts can give you some time Jason” Turns to Travis “Should we hang about…”
Travis – “There may be many things ‘The Blessed One’ values your help on, but the microphone is Travis Roberts’ friend. You go ahead and get set up in the gym, ‘The Blessed One’ will join you after he gives Jason here his second important Interview of the week…”
[Craig and eD make their way down the corridor towards the gym, as Jason Reeves smoothes back his hair and get’s his camera crew into position]
Jason – “Travis Roberts, thanks for taking the time out of you’re busy schedule to answer a few questions from me…”
Travis – “Not a problem Jason, this is quite a week for you isn’t it, first you get to point a microphone at Declan Prescott, and now you’ve got a few moments with ‘The Headliner’…Roxy will be pissed for sure…”
Jason – “She knows who the Number One Interviewer in GIW is, she can stick with interviewing the small fry. But to my first question, as you mentioned I witnessed firsthand Declan’s address to Global Impact Wrestling directly after Guerrilla Warfare. Given his revelations on regarding Global Domination, and the end of the War that rippled throughout GIW, where does this put your plans for a Revolution?”
Travis – “It’s true that the oncoming, inevitable, TWiSTeD Revolution would have been sped along by a major split in this great company. But Jason, great Revolutionaries are not put off by a steeper climb, sure the gradient of the mountain that Travis Roberts has made it his purpose to scale has increased, but that doesn’t mean ‘The Blessed One’ will give up…
Now more than ever Global Impact Wrestling is need of a Revolution. Whilst the return of Declan Prescott, a talented in-ring performer, and superb business man, should be something to give the whole company a lift, the Global Impact Wrestling staff are in a state of shell shock. The abrupt end to the conflict that has raged in Global Impact Wrestling has caused many to re-evaluate their long time goals and aspirations. But you can be assured Jason, that the ‘TWiSTeD Guerrilla’ is more focused on the tasks to come than ever…”
Jason – “Declan also had a few choice words for yourself Travis, do you wish to respond?”
Travis – “If anyone’s comments deserve a response it must be the owner of Global Impact Wrestling. Travis Roberts is not arrogant enough to think ignoring Declan Prescott’s words would be a positive step. It seems Mr Prescott has mixed views regarding Travis Roberts. He says he doesn’t agree with anything ‘The Blessed One’ has done, and that he felt Travis Roberts was arrogant in turning his back on Global Domination.
Travis Roberts does not believe this to be true, firstly ‘The Blessed One’ knows that Declan is not naïve enough to think that Travis’ decision to turn his back on Global Domination was a bad move on ‘The Headliners’ behalf, in the same position Declan would have done the same. It was clear from the very beginning that Global Domination was a poorly functioning group from the get go. Declan would never have had his name associated with such a group in the same position. How in the name of all that is sacred would having ‘The Blessed Ones’ name mentioned in the same breath as Savage have been positive to Travis Roberts’ career?”
Jason – “Declan did make a point of saying he respected you for not disrespecting Cara Costello…”
Travis – “And ‘The TWISTeD Icon” recognised that, but it is clear Declan has not had a lot of dealings with Travis Roberts. ‘The Headliner’ is not some stupid, jacked up oaf that thinks it’s a good idea to harass the owner’s girlfriend whilst he lies in hospital. ‘The Blessed One’ does not feel he deserves respect for having an IQ above that of the average window licker, it’s like giving someone respect for looking both ways before they cross the road, it’s just common sense to steer clear of the owners girl, only the mentally deficient would ever think otherwise.
And Cara herself deserved ‘The Headliners’ respect, no-one believed that Ms Costello could ever keep control over the empire that Declan had left in her hands. Few felt she could protect herself, let alone the entire company. Yet she proved herself to be more than up to the task. Travis Roberts respect was not just out of self-preservation, but because it was earned.
But Declan, ‘The Headliner’ does, of course, want your respect, for you have his. But that respect must be earned by Travis Roberts’ actions in the ring, not for keeping away from your girlfriend. ‘The Blessed One’ can only think Declan has yet to catch up on all the events in GIW, as Travis Roberts would have thought that his victory over our new Global Heavyweight Champion a matter of weeks ago would be enough to earn at least a hint of respect.
As for staying out of your way Declan, for now Travis Roberts does not see any problem with that. There is no need for our paths to cross…just yet. Whilst the ‘TWiSTeD Guerrilla’ focuses on building the foundations for the Revolution, whilst Travis Roberts focuses on ensuring Stage I of the Revolution is successful, there will be no need to ‘get in Declans way’.
Declan is a smart man though, he knows that his position as ‘King’ and supreme ruler of Global impact Wrestling, puts himself and The Revolution on a collision course. For The Revolution to be embraced, the hierarchy has to be addressed, how will ‘The Blessed One’ go about this…well that’s Stage II…”
Jason – “Maybe we could move on to more recent events. On Saturday at Sentinel you have been given the chance to be entered into the vote to face The Global Heavyweight Champion at ‘In Your Hands’, after your gruelling match with Komosube and Donovan Hastings at ‘Guerrilla Warfare’, do you think you’re ready for the challenge that lays ahead and can you overcome Sean Jensen, the very man who knocked you out of the Hardcore Tournament last month?”
Travis – “Take a look Jason…Is Travis Roberts limping in on crutches? Does ‘The Blessed One’ look like a man that took three chair shots on Saturday night? ‘The Headliner’ is focused and determined to make it into that vote. It’s true that Travis Roberts has not always been best prepared in his brief time here in Global Impact Wrestling, and the defeat to Sean Jensen last month is a great example of that…
But you no longer see the same ‘TWiSTeD Icon’ that you saw enter GIW, now standing before you Jason, is the ‘TWiSTeD Guerrilla’, no longer does Travis Roberts fight merely for his own glory, his own aspirations…now Travis Roberts fights with dedication, and passion for a belief, for a vision. ‘The Blessed One’ knows what is expected of him, what needs to be done to bring forth the Revolution…and the first phase of The Revolution is hinged on Travis Roberts defeating Sean Jensen on Saturday night at Sentinel…”
Jason – “Declan Prescott even mentioned how much Sean Jensen has changed, are you confident you can actually beat Global Impact Wrestling’s most improved star?”
Travis – ‘Supremely confident Jason. Don’t get Travis Roberts’ wrong, he isn’t going to underestimate his opponent, as his opponent has done him. Sean Jensen is indeed a rising star in the industry, and one day he may well reach the pinnacle of the business, but for now he’ll just have to comfort himself with the fact that he has had one victory over ‘The Blessed One’.
Sean Jensen had ‘The Blessed Ones’ number a few weeks ago, Travis Roberts did not give Sean Jensen enough respect, and that cost ‘The Headliner’. You see Jason, one thing the ‘TWiSTeD Icon’ has learnt over the years, is that in any encounter in the ring, doors are presented to you, doors that lead to victory or defeat. Now depending on how any competitor performs, how they have prepared, those opportunities vary in quantity and difficulty of success. It is literally possible for anyone to beat anyone, if they manage to break through the right doors, and a few weeks ago Sean Jensen was lucky enough to pick the lock and gain the victory.
It seems though, that victory, coupled with a few others have gone directly to Sean Jensen’s head. Don’t get Travis Roberts wrong, a victory over ‘The Blessed One’ would rank as a career highlight for any worker in this industry, but Sean Jensen seems to have forgotten where he was just a few weeks before…
As Declan Prescott so aptly put it Jensen was “facing jobbers in between quitting for a week at a time”, no-one could care less what Sean Jensen did. Now Jensen struts around Global impact Wrestling as if he is the hottest property in Sports Entertainment since…well…’The Blessed One’! he even has the audacity to suggest that his one meeting with ‘The Headliner’ makes him better than Travis Roberts!
Jensen, have you forgotten how you made it to this position in your career? Before Travis Roberts entered GIW no-one gave a damn about what you said, or what you did, you were a non-entity to anyone who mattered in the company. Then ‘The Blessed One’ dropped your name into one of his first Promo’s, started making monkey jokes, and your career took off. The Sean Jensen phenomenon that has swept through Global Impact Wrestling in recent weeks, the merchandising boom that has seen T-Shirts with your name, yet an image of someone else, become bestsellers in the company, are solely down to ‘The Blessed One’s’ intervention in your career. You think your ‘streak’ had anything to do with it? Please, apart from yours truly, who of any note did you actually beat?
Your career to this point has been built off the back of ‘The Headliners’ work and reputation, and that one victory, but in fairness Jensen, what else have you got? A laughable group of allies and another girlfriend that’s screwing around on you, these things didn’t catapult you to your current lofty status, ‘The Blessed One’ did. When you ask what Travis Roberts is really blessed with, the reply could last for hours, but how about the fact he is ‘Blessed’ with making stars out of Jobber’s such as yourself?
It seems Sean Jensen, you have become lost in your own hype, something ‘The Headliner’ can relate to. You brazenly declare if Travis Roberts shows up on Saturday you will break every bone in his body. Who’s underestimating who now? ‘The Blessed One’ isn’t a teenager you can curb stomp without resistence, ‘The Headliner’ is more focused and more determined than ever before, and unfortunately Sean, you are gonna be the first step in achieving Phase I of the Revolution.
There isn’t much more to be said about Sean Jensen, in the short time he addressed Travis Roberts he made a fool of himself. He implied ‘The Headliners’ social skills are lousy, this coming from a man who screwed the first semi-attractive girl that didn’t throw up a little on meeting him, who hangs around with a Jazz Playing midget, and pays a guy to be his friend. In short Jensen, you defeated yourself the other day with your stupidity, which ‘The Headliner’ is sure will shine through on Saturday. You may have been pissed you lost your chance of being Hardcore Champion last week, just imagine how bad it will feel to lose your shot at the Global Heavyweight Title, especially when you realise you’ll never reach the heights of greatness that ‘The Headliner’ has achieved”
Jason – “Thanks for giving us some of your time Travis, but before you leave, could you let us know what the opportunity to fight for the Global Heavyweight Championship means to you?”
Travis – “Jason, ‘The Headliner’ returned to the Industry here in Global Impact Wrestling, this company gave ‘The Blessed One’ a new home. Sure it’s taken the guys at the top a while to recognise the importance of such an event to GIW, but it’s better late than never. ‘The Blessed one’ would be lying if he said he didn’t feel he deserved to be in the mix, if Sean Jensen is good enough to have a chance, surely the man who beat our current Champion just a matter of weeks ago is good enough to.
But despite the fact Travis Roberts inclusion is just good business sense, it also fills ‘The Headliner’ with pride. It shows that the ‘TWiSTeD Icons’ work has not gone unnoticed. The chance to compete for the most coveted prize in our Industry was what drew Travis Roberts back to the battlefield; ‘The Headliner’ is still determined to reclaim his place as ‘The Most Important Icon in Sports Entertainment this Millenia’, and without the Global Heavyweight Championship, ‘The Most Important Title in Sports Entertainment Today’, ‘The Blessed One’ has no chance of success.
If Travis Roberts stands against Brandon Brown at “In Your Hands”, he will fight for the title with the dignity, honour and skill it deserves. If ‘The Blessed One’ returns to the top of the card at “In your Hands”, he will also know it was due to the fans themselves, and they are the reason we all do what we do. But before we can even think about that, Travis Roberts has gotta go and learn how to counter a curb stomp…”
Jason – “Thanks for your time Travis…”
Travis – “Any time…which ways the gym?”
[Jason points down the corridor, and Travis looks over his Aviators directly into the camera and gives a wry smile to the viewers, before he heads off to train for his upcoming match, and plan for The Revolution.]
