We see a darkened set, with silhouettes visible of a table with a couch alongside it. A voiceover is heard from Rob Cartwright, former backstage interviewer from the Lock Wrestling Federation.
Cartwright: You watched it for years in LWF, and tonight, the broadcast sensation comes to the United Global Wrestling Coalition! It is time for the new season of The Piercing Truth! And now, the host of The Piercing Truth, you know his name, TRAVIS PIERCE!
“You Know My Name” by Chris Cornell begins to play, and the lights come on to show a chair sitting backwards behind the desk. A monitor behind the chair shows the logo for The Piercing Truth. The chair spins around to reveal Travis himself.
Pierce: Hello, and welcome to The Piercing Truth! My name is Travis Pierce, and as always, I am your party host. It’s been a whirlwind for weeks with the close of LWF and the opening of UGWC, which means we’ve got a lot to talk about. We’ve got a blockbuster first guest lined up for you, but first, our top stories!
Pierce switches to Camera B. The monitor shows an image of actress Anna Paquin.
Pierce: “True Blood” star Anna Paquin came out this week as a bisexual, giving thousands of X-Men fanboys new images to jerk it to when they think about Rogue. This of course came on the heels of an announcement that likely didn’t even shock the pope, that Ricky Martin is also gay. In a related story, speaking of things that weren’t shocking, Travis Pierce was victorious at Lockmania when he defeated the Big Time for the Cross-Hemisphere Title, completing an over two year journey in pursuit of the championship.
The monitor shows an image of Travis posing with the title belt after winning it at Lockmania.
Pierce: When asked to comment at the time, Pierce didn’t say much, because he was out of breath. But reached for comment today, Pierce had the following to say.
Pierce switches to Camera A.
Pierce: In your face, you arrogant punk.
Pierce switches to Camera B.
Pierce: Pierce takes the championship with him to UGWC, where he eagerly awaits his next challenge. We’ll be talking to someone else in a very similar position later in our program.
Pierce switches to Camera A. The monitor shows a splitscreen of Jay Leno and Conan O’Brian.
Pierce: Jay Leno has admitted that Conan O’Brian was treated “terribly” by NBC in the wake of the chain of events that led to O’Brian being ousted and Leno reinstated, which would kind of be like Dick Cheney saying the United States was treated terribly by George Bush. It’s mostly your fault, asshole. In fact, it’s similar to the mistreatment of the now defunct Global Impact Wrestling by the Covenant.
The monitor shows Dirge, Raenius, and Chassie Fear.
Pierce: Our research department tells me that these three were mainly responsible for the implosion of the promotion, which has since been bought out and merged into UGWC. Can the Covenant continue their reign of terror in the new era? Travis Pierce investigates up close and personal, this week on Synergy!
Pierce switches to Camera B, and points right at the camera.
Pierce: Don’t miss it!
Pierce switches to Camera A.
Pierce: Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome my guest tonight, he won the LWF World Title at Lockmania, Red Fusion!
The 8-bit synthesizer plays "War Machine" as Red Fusion comes out and shakes hands with Pierce before taking a seat on the couch.
Pierce: Welcome to the show!
Fusion: Thank you for having me, and congratulations on your big title win at Lock Mania.
Pierce: Thanks. I suppose that now that you’ve said that, I really have to congratulate you on your latest achievement.
Fusion: I appreciate it. It's been a long 8 years but I finally won the LWF Title.
Pierce: Actually, I was referring to the fact that, inexplicably, our research department is telling me that this is your FIRST appearance on The Piercing Truth, in spite of the fact that we've been on the air for over two years!
Fusion: Well, I appreciate you having me on now. Was that Rob Cartwright I saw on the way in?
Pierce: Yeah, I gave him a job, felt bad for the guy.
Cartwright: Hey!
Pierce: I hear you nabbed Leonard. Can you tell us about your relationship with him now?
Fusion: He has been great. He has always been there to interview me, and was never like that pompous ass, Grey Coppi. He is already an outstanding manager and has some great tips.
Pierce: We also learned at Lockmania that Chuck Randall was in fact your brother, who previously competed in LWF as Code Red and with whom you were Tag Team Champions, and whom you were quite dickish too at a previous Lockmania about six years ago. What's the deal, blood thicker than water?
Fusion: You could say so. There was alot of things that went down in our personal lives and it somehow made its way on camera, so I figured, it was time to eliminate my problem. I ended his career...he found a loophole and made his way back and after two years of being here, he finally tells me the truth. I can honestly say though, it was night to see him. We did alot of catching up after Lockmania.
Pierce: So can we expect to see you and Randall teaming together once again?
Fusion: I will leave that to the imagination. Alot can happen, especially the unexpected, and you know that better than anyone.
Pierce: That's super. Early in my career in LWF, I had a carrot dangled in front of me in the form of the Cross-Hemisphere Title, but it would be over two years later before I finally got my hands on it last month at Lockmania. Yet your road to the World Title was even more fraught with peril and full of twists and turns. Tell us about it.
Fusion: I have had many chances in the past at the LWF Title, but I made it my mission to make them count this time and they did. Every one of them. Especially this last one. I finally have what I came for, and that is all there is to it.
Pierce: The LWF record books show that in the spring of 2004, you came up short in a match for the World Title against Psiko. Legend has it you got screwed. Isn't it true that the piercing truth of that night is that you simply choked?
Fusion: I choked? No. Screwed? Yes and no. I wasn't in the sense that Phoenix did interfere and it was what led to me winning the title. However, I was screwed in the sense that every time there is outside interference, why haven't the cheating winners had the title returned for a rematch? Why me? Because Psiko was in Lock's back pocket, and Lock couldn't stand seeing me with the belt. Now he has no choice.
Pierce: A tall tale, indeed. Yet the past is all behind us now, as we go forward into a new era, with the debut broadcast of UGWC Synergy this Monday night. Now that you've already accomplished what was your biggest achievement at Lockmania, what is next for Red Fusion?
Fusion: I will defend this title with the upmost honor, courage, respect, and make it my duty to remain it's champion. I will be the most hardcore, fight-ingest champion the world has ever seen.
Pierce: Well, seeing as we’re just making up words now, I figure that's about all the time we have, I'd like to thank you, Red, for joining us tonight.
Fusion: Thank you for having me.
Pierce: Don’t forget, piercing fans, this week on Synergy, Travis Pierce teams with a man who has been both his ally and rival, John Russo, and the GIW.Com Champion, Alex Kiseragi, against the Covenant! We'll see you next time!
“You Know My Name” plays again, and Travis and Fusion continue to chat as we fade out.
Thanks to redfusion for his contributions to this RP.
