Amazingly, another year of UGWC has come and gone, and with Horizons in the books we begin looking towards a new year. A member of our team has decided it is time to step away for a bit, and I want to take a moment to acknowledge and appreciate everything that he has done for all of us.
Chad first came to UGWC in 2013, handling the character of "The Drunken Buzzsaw" Chaos. He would later also bring in "Vain" Alan Wallace, who would go on to be one of the most successful characters in UGWC history. Chad is an amazing and beloved writer and for whom every RP is a "must-read" event, and his fantastic record reflects it. There is perhaps no better example than the 2015 Outlast Tournament, in which Vain successfully defended the World Title. The last character he beat to do so? Chaos. Chad rose above the rest of the competition with two characters at the same time.
Chad has been a member of the Mod Team for the last six years and on countless occasions has been the rock upon which the rest of UGWC has stood. Were it not for his contributions and support, there is no doubt in my mind that we would have closed our doors years ago. He has written some of the biggest matches in UGWC history, three of which were recognized as the match of their respective years, and has written multiple Battleground Matches and Horizons main events, including my biased personal favorite, the match between Donovan Hastings and Jet Somers at Horizons 2017.
I'm happy to be able to say that I've had the privilege of working alongside Chad during all this time, which has included numerous valuable conversations that had nothing to do with UGWC at all, and while Chad insists that this is not a goodbye, it's just a "see you down the road," he will be missed. Nobody deserves the break more than he.
I'm sure that Chad will have his own comments on his departure, but I can't stress enough how much I have appreciated him, how much we should all appreciate him, and how much better UGWC is today because of him. There are two people joining the mod team (because we need at least two people to replace all of the Chadness that is Chad), and we're excited to have them come on board and will be announcing that very soon, for right now I'd like us to just focus on a person that very much deserves it.
#ThankYouChad
