The Global Challenge Tournament returns in 2022!
What is this?
The Global Challenge is a Round Robin tournament unfolding over the first six weeks of the UGWC calendar year. Ten entrants will participate in the event, which is first come, first serve, and is open to new members of UGWC as well. The winner of the event will receive the first of four keys to be awarded during the year that grant the winner access to the Keeper of the Keys event in November.
The ten entrants will be split into two blocks, and each participant will face the other four members of their block one time. Scoring possibilities are expanded from last year and are listed below. At Infinity on February 15, the participants of each block will be ranked and will face off against the same ranked opponent from the opposite block. Ties are broken by head to head performance. While all five match-ups will have a prize on the line, the top ranked competitor in each block will compete for the Global Challenge Key.
How do I participate?
You can sign up by responding to this post. If you are new to UGWC, you should also post a bio on the Roster Board. By participating, you are committing to having a match on four of the five following dates: Jan 10, Jan 17, Jan 24, Jan 31, Feb 7. You are also guaranteed a match at Infinity on February 14.
Of the dates from Jan 10-Feb 7, you will have one week off and will not be booked. If you have a preference as to which date that is, please tell us by December 31. The full tournament schedule will be announced by January 3, and once the schedule is posted no-showing a week for any reason will result in an automatic loss and matches cannot be rescheduled.
ALL TEN participants will have a prize to compete for at Infinity.
Good luck!
