Peterson: Why are we going to the ring in the middle of the week?
Hastings: Preparation for Monday.
Peterson: Right, but that usually involves you doing something out of the norm or filming me doing something stupid.
Roberts - Those truly would be opposing concepts, wouldn’t they?
Peterson: And why did you want me to bring the megaphone?
They approach the gorilla position near the curtain, where Calypso stands waiting.
Hastings: You got it?
Calypso: Of course.
She holds up a video camera.
Hastings: Who’s better than you?
Owen looks confused, but the group passes through the curtain to the stage. A full band is in the ring.
Peterson: Are we here for a concert?
Hastings: How perceptive.
Peterson: They don’t have a singer.
Donovan, Calypso, and Travis all look at Owen.
Peterson: Oh, come on.
Hastings: Time for some Owenoke. You’ve got two minutes to come up with a song about my match against Declan.
Peterson: Stop it.
Donovan takes the megaphone from Owen.
Hastings: One fifty seven.
Owen starts hustling down the ramp to the ring.
Roberts - He moves pretty good for a guy his size.
Calypso: Are we doing anything with this after we film it?
Hastings: Maybe we can get the Consortium to include it on something as a DVD extra.
Calypso: I’m going to get closer. You staying up here?
Hastings: Yeah, the acoustics down there could be dangerous.
Calypso: Thanks.
She walks down the ramp.
Roberts - Did I tell you about the book I‘m reading?
Hastings: If I say yes, do I have to hear about it anyway?
Roberts - Involved the walking dead and everything. Not the series, mind you, although I am terribly excited about it.
Hastings: You told me about this.
Roberts - A lot of people don’t realize the amazing metaphors that a good zombie story can tell. They really give terrific insight and views on society. Fucking brilliant.
Donovan holds up the megaphone.
Hastings: OWEN. TIMES UP.
Peterson: A one, a two, a one two three four!
The band begins playing music. After a short introduction, Owen busts out singing.
Owen goes to a speaking voice.
Owen begins singing again.
Owen goes back to speaking.
Speaking again.
Singing.
Speaking.
Owen falls to his knees and screams.
The band plays a few final notes as the song finishes. Owen appears exhausted, but gets back to his feet.
Hastings: GREAT. NOW DO ONE FOR FEAR.
Peterson: You’ve got to be kidding me.
Hastings: ONE FIFTY SIX.
Owen quickly spins and huddles with the band.
Roberts - Is it me, or did that ending sound like it might have fit better for Kiseragi?
Hastings: I wasn’t really listening.
Calypso comes up the ramp.
Calypso: You’re making him do another?
Hastings: I have two opponents.
Roberts - ‘The Blessed One’ agrees that it wouldn’t make sense to simply construct a ballad about just one opponent when there are two members of the opposition.
Calypso rolls her eyes and walks back down the ramp.
Hastings: Why do you do that?
Roberts - What?
Hastings: You have to do the gimmick with her?
Roberts - Are you married?
Hastings: No.
Roberts - Well, there you go.
Hastings: What does that have to do with-
He holds up the megaphone.
Hastings: OWEN! TIMES UP!
The band begins playing again, this time a very heavy percussion piece.
Hastings: DON’T QUIT YOUR DAY JOB.
Roberts - Was that supporting Deimos or criticizing him?
Hastings: Who cares, it‘ll piss him off either way.
Roberts - You should have got him a Mariachi band.
Hastings: And you should have never taken on a caveman as a partner, but you don’t see me complaining.
Roberts - Don’t be so harsh on yourself, MENSA will call back when they realize their oversight.
Hastings: Clever.
Calypso and Owen both come back up the ramp.
Peterson: That was kind of fun, actually.
Hastings: Glad to hear it. Ready?
Calypso nods. He nods back, and she turns the camera back on.
Hastings: Come Monday night, gentlemen, the time for games is over. Declan, Fear…people may sing songs of you. They might tell stories about you. They might shout your names…but there is one legend of UGWC, one immortal, and you are looking at him. Last year at Battleground, I won the biggest match of my career, and set myself on the path to winning the Global Championship, a championship I never lost. This match at this year’s Battleground will be between the only three World Heavyweight Champions in UGWC history. At the end of the night, when that single champion is left standing, his identity is nothing if not…inevitable.
Donovan nods, and Calypso turns the camera off.
Peterson: Please tell me you’re not going to take that whole thing and…you are, aren't you...
Hastings: We’re taking a page out of Fear’s book.
He stares at the camera for a moment.
Hastings: Release it viral.
Hastings: Preparation for Monday.

The band begins playing music. After a short introduction, Owen busts out singing.
We see you in the distance as your title glistens
We hold our breath, we wait and listen
The end has come and I welcome glory
No one will know the truth to this story
We hold our breath, we wait and listen
The end has come and I welcome glory
No one will know the truth to this story
Owen goes to a speaking voice.
The iron in my chest is not beating
It's burning - and smoking - and turning
I know what's coming... I asked it here
And with it the rain and thunder - electricity
Everything changes - tonight.
It's burning - and smoking - and turning
I know what's coming... I asked it here
And with it the rain and thunder - electricity
Everything changes - tonight.
Owen begins singing again.
Declan paces back and forth
Inside walls that are reinforced
Big bombs mounted to his arms
Locked... loaded... ready... armed.
Gotta gotta get out of this town
Gotta bring that Declan down.
Inside walls that are reinforced
Big bombs mounted to his arms
Locked... loaded... ready... armed.
Gotta gotta get out of this town
Gotta bring that Declan down.
Owen goes back to speaking.
Closer draws the final hour
To take Declan down you will need my power
But to your aid, an unlikely friend
Programmed to fight till the very end!
To take Declan down you will need my power
But to your aid, an unlikely friend
Programmed to fight till the very end!
Speaking again.
A fitting death.
My hands are gone,
replaced by fire.
and intent.
Soiled in their conception.
A whistle.
An omen.
The breath stops. Mine?
Time for battle?
Yes.

replaced by fire.

Speaking.
And so they fought.
The clash of metal and grinding gears echoed across the night sky.
Victory was at hand
But in the end... his will overcame the program.

Owen falls to his knees and screams.
Down goes Declan!
DOWN GOES DECLAN!
DOWN GOES DECLAN!!!
DOOOOOWWWWWWNNNNNNN!!!!!!

All for ‘Cadia!
You’ve come far, you’ve destroyed many of the others
I’ll avenge the rest I have my druthers.
This is not a joke!
Understand I’m different than the others you’ve seen before
I’ve been born from nature and machines of war.
Because I’m made
Here to please
I’ll bring Donovan to his knees.
No one likes your cloak!
I’ll take more to stop this war than an escapee of the zoo
When the leaves fall, so will you.
This is not a joke!
Master of terror and of the birds and the bees
My partner has a hammer, anvil, and lots of cookies!
Because I’m made
Here to please
I’ll bring Donovan to his knees.
And I would, if I could
Destroy
All that’s good.
