Man is born free, and everywhere he is in chains.
Ezekiel,
I’m pretty sure that you are going to be shocked when you get this, but I know you will be grateful as well. Things have been real hard here and this is my first opportunity to write you a letter since I arrived here. They only let you write once a month so the first few letters went to my parents. I knew they would be worried since I wasn’t able to tell them where I’d been. Somehow, the Japanese government had turned this into a unique case where I couldn’t even fight the extradition. Also, they had somehow managed to get footage of me committing the murder so the trial happened quickly. I’m doing what I can to appeal the decision but it’s hard to do that while I am already locked up.
My father wrote back rather quickly and wish us both well. He also said that he would like you to get a hold of him. You guys haven’t had contact with each since around the time I was kidnapped by Raenius. His number is on the back of this paper. Please contact him.
Through a few different sources, I’ve been able to keep track of what you’ve been up to in UGWC. Because of guys like Alex Kiseragi and that Hiroshima group, UGWC has become rather popular over here so it hasn’t too hard to follow. Keep up the good work, kid. As of this letter, you’re still Chaos Champion. That’s impressive. I know how hard things have been for you on your own after being in a tag team and having me there to help watch your back and you’ve made a good transition. Only problem I have is letting Scarlet back into your life. Be careful. I don’t have to remind you as to what happened last time you let her in your life.
Besides Scarlet, it seems like you’re on a good path. You’re getting further in UGWC than some people would have ever expected. I don’t mean to say that people doubted you, I just mean that you showed up as a tag team specialist and now you’ve developed quite the Win/Loss record by yourself. You’ve beaten a few World Champions and it doesn’t hurt me to say that you’re well on your way to surpassing where I was in professional wrestling. In my defense, I had to compete with weirdos like The Covenant most of my career. Glad that you’ve gotten past them and don’t have to worry about them anymore.
I wish I could’ve been there to see your run as a damn angel. Who saw that coming, right? Definitely not me, I’ll tell you that much. All this business with JK seems interesting. He’s another guy who has really come into his own. I thought you guys were going to form some sort of team, but that’s all down the tubes now. Don’t get yourself too deep into other people’s business, kid. Focus on what’s close to you. JK is champion just like you so if he doesn’t want your help, focus on your title and let him focus on his. It’ll be best for everybody.
I check out the card that he put together and it looks pretty solid. You taking on Medos and Tacker. Should be a good battle but everyone with a brain in there head should know that you’ll come out on top. No one can touch you. You’re nearly unstoppable right now. And no one in that match can hold a candle to you. Especially not that Medos kid. If he wins I’ll be real surprised. Good luck out there.
One last thing before I end this letter. I’m pretty sure that you know the reason I’m in here. For some reason or another, Marek went off the deep end. He turned on one of his closest friends, attacked me, and had me to sent to jail after I saved his life. I don’t know if you’re in contact with him but don’t let him back into your life. Scarlet is one thing. She came in as a fan of yours and she kept by your side and only you. It’s different with Marek. He betrayed all of us. I know he hasn’t been in UGWC for a while but just keep your eyes open. That’s all I ask.
I hope to hear back from you. The address is on the envelope, like normal. You take of yourself and I’ll take care of myself.
-Xavier
The enemy of my enemy is my friend.
A win is a win is a win... right? Ezekiel was able to chalk up another one into the win column but this one seemed even more jaded than fighting Medos 5 times in 4 weeks.. or something like that. He had gotten the win with his new partner, Jet Somers, but he wasn’t even the one that clocked by a high heel. And he didn’t even get to have his hand raised as shit hit the fan right after the ref called for the bell. He got nailed by ‘Jimmy’ in the gut and then was expelled from the ring with force by the Saint of Chaos. As Ezekiel laid on the floor looking up at the lights, he did realize one thing...
It felt fruckin’ awesome stepping back in the ring with a decent tag team partner. He’d teamed on occasion with other people since the separation of War & Peace, but he’d always felt something missing until he and Jet were standing in the same corner. Jet was an accomplished wrestler by himself and in a team and even though their partnership in that match was short-lived, Ezekiel was anxious to see where it could possibly lead. Could it be the birth of a new friendship? New partnership? The Ginja Ninja teaming with The Iron Man. These questions would have to wait till have No Holds Barred.
Deep, unspeakable suffering may well be called a baptism, a regeneration, the initiation into a new state
The scene opens to Ezekiel sitting in his chair by his desk, eyes closed and his hands behind his head. Some papers sit on the desk in front of him. He sighs and sits forward, looking over the papers a bit. He pulls out his phone and punches in some numbers before putting the phone on speaker and setting it down on top of the papers.
“Hello?” says a gravelly voice coming from the phone.
“Hey.” replies Ezekiel.
“Who is this?”
“It’s Ezekiel.”
There is no response on the other end. Just awkward silence.
“It’s been a long time, son. How’re you doing?”
“I’m doing alright. Been better. I just got his letter today. Kind of a mood changer, ya know?”
“I’d rather not do this over the phone. Would you mind coming by the house?”
Ezekiel sighs. He’d been avoiding that house for quite some time. He wasn’t even sure if xavier had told Zeke’s mom that he had died and come back as an angel.
“Alright. I’ll come over Friday night. Hang out a bit before I fly out to Texas on Saturday.”
“Sounds good, son. I’m sure your mother would love to see you.”
“Was that really necessary, Tony?” Ezekiel says sharply as he pushes a button, hanging up the phone.
He places his head in his hands. He didn’t need this right now. Xavier contacting him out of no where and now his mother wanting to see him. He needed to focus on becoming the Cross-Hemisphere Champion.
“F@CK!” he suddenly shouted, tossing the letters and his phone off of his desk. “I don’t need this shit.”
We already covered that..
“Shut up!” he exclaims, then sits there for a second with an awkward look on his face. “I think I’m losing it.”
He stretches his neck a little bit and gets to his feet a bit gingerly. As he stands, you can see a wrap around his midsection with ice packs tucked into it. He grimaces as he adjusts the wrap.
“Damn you, Jimmy.. Was the lead pipe really necessary, bro?”
Ezekiel unwraps the bandage and tosses it off to the side, exposing his ribs which are visibly bruised.
“Look at this, dude. This fxckin’ hurts. It just goes to show that you can’t handle me on your own, Jimmy. You’re little alter ego and you’re little lead pipe won’t be enough. Nothing you can do can stop my path toward the top.”
He goes over and sits on the edge of his bed.
“Let’s just look over what we have here for No Holds Barred.”
He holds 3 fingers on one hand.
“Let’s start off with the Champion, JK. He’s the youngest champion to ever win the title. That’s seen as some as a big feat but when you look at the details, it just means he had shitty parents who didn’t pay enough attention to him. Anyone can become the youngest ‘anything’ if they get a headstart. Simply put, JK, you claiming to be the youngest champion is like someone claiming to be the smartest kid in the Special Needs Class. It’s not much of a compliment.”
He takes his left hand and folds down his ring finger on his right hand.
“Next, we have the Saint of Chaos. Sounds scary. Your track record speaks for itself, hombre. You’re the King of Chaos yet you held the belt for the shortest amount of time. Well, except for Medos. I’m sure his reign will be as uneventful as yours. Anyways, you’re like a stereotypical high school girl. You’ve gotten caught up in some drama and you’re blaming me because you can’t handle it. I’ve said enough on you. It’s just going to make me more angry.”
Ezekiel lowers his middle finger on his hand and continues on.
“Last but not least, we have..” he hesitates over dramatically. “Ezekiel Pax. The mother fxckin’ HIGH Flyer. The Red Eyed Warrior. Or Wonder. Both were approved by the Awesome Nicknames of America Association. I am the Iron Man. The Archangel. Well, I used to be the Archangel. I was burned, killed, and reborn. You could say I was..” Dramatic pause, followed by a wink. “..regenerated into the most awesome wrestler UGWC has seen since it opens it’s doors. I went from a hit or miss tag team competitor into a the single most winning-est competitor this year.”
He exhales enthusiastically. “Talk about a turn around, right? I was in a coma for a year and within 3 months of returning to active competition, I win the Chaos Title. I don’t mean to toot my own horn but I am the re-birth of what made GIW famous. All the old stars and World Champions are either gone or distracted with lesser matters.”
Ezekiel gets up from his bed and grabs a stack of something off of his desk. He flips one over and we can see a picture of Declan Prescott.
“Declan Prescott had so much going for him. He won an epic match against Travis Roberts but still decided to walk away.”
He tosses the picture aside and flips up the next one, featuring Travis Roberts.
“Speaking of Ol' T-Rob. This guy served as my Mentor of Marijuana. He was the Epitome of Awesome. There is so much to say about Travis but I'll sum it up in a few words. Waste of talent. Sorry, bro. But if you were as awesome as you were when we first met, you'd still be here. It's so sad that you went soft."
Zeke repeats the process, this time featuring Andy Savana.
“The Admiral of the Asylum may be the only person to have less fans than Medos."
Now featuring Randy Boolzian.
“This guy.." Ezekiel just shakes his head he laughs. “..I'm sure a lot of fans miss him, but most of all I am sure he misses making a fool out of everyone on a weekly basis. His little protege, Tobias, served me my first handful of singles losses. I think it's obvious who is on the better end. I'm still here while Tobias is out modeling underwear somewhere."
Ezekiel tosses the photo aside and takes a second before turning over the final photo in his hands. He smiles a little and turns it over, showing off the boring face of Alex Kiseragi.
“This fellow.. look at that face. I don't have many harsh words to say about Alex. He's sort of an old friend. He was the only GIW Superstar to actually visit me on my deathbed. The only bit I have to say about Alex flows along with what I said about Travis. You're getting soft, old buddy. The more vigilant version of A-Kis would never have been sneak attacked by Hastings."
He tosses away the final photo.
“The point I am trying to get across is that UGWC is heading for new ground. It started with the ‘marriage' of LWF and GIW and continued on with them merging the titles and creating fancy names for them. UGWC is evolving on. New superstars are generating by the masses on a constant basis which leaves the present Entertainment Professionals to regenerate their personas and attitudes.”
Ezekiel’s tone changes from playful to a bit more serious.
“That means people like Enigma create little alter egos that hide behind face paint. That means choir boys like JK suddenly develop a dark side. JK. You threaten me with unless a ‘dark cyclone'? I'm not from Kansas, bitch. I'm not afraid of tornadoes. I brought most of this pain upon you and I'm okay with that. What I'm not okay with is you turning on me so quickly. How do I know that you haven't re-aligned with Enigma and are plotting against me? He didn't attack you last week, he attacked me. I'm not even the champion."
He points towards an empty spot on his desk.
“Do you see this empty area, JK? This is where the Chaos Title used to sit when I possessed it. Look closely at it, JK, because after No Holds Barred, when I defeat you in the match you made famous.."
Ezekiel smiles wickedly.
“What you hold dearest.. What you bleed for.. What you can't live without.. It will just become another thing that I've taken from you, Jordan. I will take everything from you."
He places his hand in the empty space and smiles again as the scene fades.
With all my fans, I got a family again.
One thing Ezekiel missed about having wings was the fact that he could fly wherever he wanted. But now he had to sit in traffic like everyone else. While he was on his way to his mother’s house and he could just feel that something was wrong. His spider-sense was tingling. After all this time, why would his family contact him? It just seemed weird. Now he was just sitting in the driveway. How would he break the ice? He talked to himself as he ran a sarcastic idea through his head.
“‘Hey, long time no see. Last time we met, I was arguing with you while your son was being tortured by maniacs.’ Yeah, that sounds delightful. Shit. Might as well just get this over.”
He turns off the car and steps outside. Ezekiel takes a moment to just look at the house. There were a lot memories inside that giant domicile. As he walks up the steps of the porch, the front door opens and his mother runs out to greet him. She wraps her arms around him.
“Oh goodness, Zeke. It’s so good to see you.” she says as Ezekiel puts his arms around her as well. “Come in, son.”
She lets go of him and steps inside, guiding him by the hand. He walks in and kicks his shoes before heading towards the couch.
“Can I get you anything to drink?”
He softly nods his head. “No thanks.”
“Are you okay, honey? It’s been so long.”
“I’ve just been busy. Had a lot going on. I’m an adult, you know. I gotta work hard to pay bills and things like that.”
His mom smiles shyly. “That’s sort of why we asked you to come here.”
Ezekiel cocks his head. “What? I’m doing fine. I don’t need Tony’s money. I never have needed any of his money.”
“Well, he had gotten word about all those things the fans were saying about you and thought he could help reinvent you.”
“What the fu--”
“Watch your mouth, young man.”
He sighs before continuing. “Where’s Tony at?”
“Just listen to what he has to say, son. Please? For me?”
He shakes his head for a moment. “You know what? I’ll do it. Why the hell not, right?”
His mom smiles wide. “Thank you so much, honey. He’ll be right in.”
She gives him a huge hug and heads out of the room as Tony, Xavier’s father, walks into the room and sits down opposite of Ezekiel.
“Just hear me out, kid. I got some pretty good ideas. This is real going to revive your career, kid. It’s going to be great. I think the term you kids use now a days is..” he smiles real big, “..Awesome.”
The scene fades as Tony begins to tell Ezekiel his ideas.
