December 5
It is done.
The Embodiment of Fear walked alone through the dark halls of Madison Square Garden, hours after Horizons ended. While he had been present for the entire event, the truth is that there was not a single moment that he could tell you about, save one. A moment that may well haunt him the rest of his days.
He stopped immediately upon rounding the final turn, and stared his head at the man who stood before him.
“No interviews. You should know by now.”
But the figure just shook his head.
“I’m not looking for one. But I’ve seen your entire career, so I do have one question, and it’s only for me.”
“You want to know why.”
Phrixus stepped past him, pausing a moment to put his hand on the man’s shoulder.
“Because I couldn’t let him suffer anymore.”
January 2
I spent the new year alone. It’s something I suppose I must get used to, now. Certainly, this is not the first time I have been alone in my career. There is no adjustment to be made there. Rather, for the first time in a long time, there is no pillar of support, no voice of encouragement.
Not that I’ve ever truly needed one. My greatest personal successes have always come when I stand alone, a product of intrinsic motivation. The truth is that I have come to enjoy my solitude, at peace with the darkness.
And yet I realize that my actions at Horizons demand answers. It amuses me. My actions said nothing beyond what I had been saying myself for months, and yet it is actions that speak louder than words, actions that speak clearer than words, actions that people understand, because they cannot or will not understand that which is spoken or written. Be it an ability to pay attention or a failure to comprehend, it matters not to me.
Suffice to say, I will have everyone’s attention now.
“This is Grey Coppi reporting for UGWC.com, where we are just days away from the eagerly anticipated return of Synergy this coming Monday. There is a lot to look forward to, coming on the heels of one of the most dominant years this reporter has seen in his decade of covering the industry, what will this year bring for the World Heavyweight Championship? The Consortium has announced several Global Challenge qualifying matches for Synergy, what will this year’s theme be? One Entertainment Professional that will be competing for a spot in the tournament is the Embodiment of Fear, Phrixus Deimos, and here at “Making Coppies” I have received word that on Synergy, Deimos will be addressing his actions at Horizons, when he turned on his long time cooperative partner, “The Talk of the Town” Alan Fernandez. What will the typically quiet and reserved Deimos have to say about it? I can’t wait!”

Coppi plays his role to perfection in predictable fashion, and now I am assured of having the full attention of the world come Synergy. At last, they will know the truth.
They will hate me for it.
It matters not. Once that business is complete, my focus must shift to the future. On Monday I face Kiseragi for a spot in this year’s Global Challenge. A man that promotes himself of being of the people, yet his obsessions cost him the person who should have been his most precious. Like so many others, his public persona hides a man haunted by demons, another piece of evidence of the falsehoods and fantasies that reign supreme.
Years ago, when I won the Lord of the Ring tournament, it was on a night on which I had already competed in the Hall of Mirrors. This year, they shall be no such obstacle.
A new era begins.
It is done.
