Risa opens the door to the Ihop and steps inside. This time it is mid afternoon, so seating is not an issue. She flips her hair back over her shoulders, vowing to buy an umbrella at some point. Her light blue dress, thankfully, looks fine wet. She scans the visible part of the restaurant, looking for Eden, but does not see her.
SR: "Probably sitting in the back again, hiding."
She smiles to herself, taken as a pleasant greeting when the early twenty's boy covered with freckles, or at least it is hoped they're freckles, steps up to the greeter's stand.
Boy: "Just one?"
Risa shakes her head.
SR: "I am supposed to meet a friend here, but I don't see her."
The boy nods, using a crayon to make a mark on the seating chart.
Boy: "I believe you are expected. If you will follow me."
Risa finds his tone somewhat creepy. Or perhaps it is just that she is drying off and it is cool inside, something sends chills up her spine. She follows him. He walks up to a table where Eden Morgan, in tinted glasses, sits, already elbow deep in pancakes with lots of syrup. Risa eyes her as she slides into the booth across from her.
SR: "Let me guess. Keep my voice down."
In acknowledgement, Eden stabs a bite of pancake and, syrup flying this way and that, wags at at Risa.
EM: "If you know what's good for you."
She them pops the bite in her mouth. Risa smiles, remembering all too well their last encounter. And to avoid anything with the word omelet in it. When the waitress arrives, Risa orders a stack of pancakes as well. This gets a head tilted look from the World Champion.
SR: "They seem to have remarkable healing properties when coated with a gallon of syrup. I could use that."
Eden nods, cutting a bite off of her own stack.
EM: "How's itchy doing?"
Risa's eyebrows furrow a moment, then she catches the play on words, grinning.
SR: "He's doing very well. Almost no limp at all. They think he'll be ready to check out sometime next week. Which means I'll have to find a bigger hotel room. UGWC is only giving me enough room allowance for one for myself."
Eden sops syrup. That's the extent of the small talk. When Risa's pancakes and sausage with a glass of apple juice arrives, she grabs the maple syrup and coats the entire plate with it. Eden gives an approving nod and slight smile.
EM: "Despite the fact I have the mother of all hangovers right now, I wanted to talk to you."
Risa nods, cutting into one of her sausage patties and taking a bite.
SR: "Your secretary or whoever that was made sure I understood that it was important."
Eden nods. Pouring more syrup, this time strawberry, over the remaining pancakes on her plate.
EM: "I am sure you have noticed the same thing I have. This growing conflict between factions. It is hard on some."
She considers her discussion the previous night, with Travis. Still unsure if she got the entire story. It didn't change her stance though. Opie was like family. Like real family.
SR: "Yes. I know I am facing the figure head for Devil's Most Wanted. He's also your brother is he not?"
This gets what would be a reproachful glance from Eden, if not for the tinted glasses.
EM: "Yes, he is. At least by the fact we share parents."
Risa nods.
SR: "Sorry. Didn't realize it was..."
Eden lowers her fork, an action that puts Risa on guard.
EM: "My issues with my family are exactly that, my issues. It doesn't mean that I don't want to see him get his ass kicked, especially by someone like you, someone who doesn't seem to be afraid."
Risa lowers her own fork.
SR: "I understand. I have no desire to meddle in others affairs. Even so, that hasn't stopped those other affairs from meddling with me."
Eden nods.
EM: "That is the kind of sick, twisted man he is. Thinking of the fact that I am on record for a pinfall for that match sickens me. If I could expunge it..."
Risa nods, dabbing at syrup on the corner of her mouth.
SR: "I understand. I also am rather put out by the Consortium, or rather the lack of their response to me lately. The last thing they sent..."
Eden nods, picking up her fork.
EM: "Absurd to ask you to do something like that. They probably are sitting somewhere wanking off at the thought they were able to get you to do that."
Risa shrugs.
SR: "If that's how they get their jollies, then let them. They will make a mistake, and when they do, someone with the last name of Morgan will find themselves without their title belt."
Eden stops, bite halfway to her mouth. Her free hand comes up, lowering her glasses down the bridge of her nose, her bloodshot eyes focusing on her table mate.
EM: "I would expect nothing less from you. But if that mistake involves me, you might be out of luck."
Risa nods, smiling a little.
SR: "Perhaps. But i'd love to give it my best shot. I surprised you last time."
EM: "Not so next time."
Risa nods, retrieving her fork and cutting into her pancakes. Eden pauses to load more syrup. Blueberry this time.
SR: "So what did you want to talk about?"
Eden shoves a bite in, talking with her mouth full.
EM: "First to let you know you won't have to worry about us this week. Concentrate on Deimos and Cypress."
Risa nods.
SR: "I figured you wouldn't. First, nothing for you to gain. Second, you'll get your chance soon enough. The pay-per-view is only a few weeks away."
Eden nods.
EM: "True. On another topic, have you ever considered doing cooperative wrestling? Tag-teams?"
Risa blinks.
SR: "Honestly, no. I've been focusing solely on my own career. I'm not sure I could co-exist with someone. Especially if I couldn't trust them. If I knew them fairly well, could trust them, maybe a loose association."
Eden nods.
EM: "We were talking the other night about the lack of real cooperative teams in UGWC. We started kicking ideas around. We never did figure out anyone who would be a good mix with you."
Risa smiles.
SR: "I'm flattered you discussed me, just the same."
Eden's cell phone chirps. With a grump she pulls it out and eyes it.
EM: "Oh, great. Looks like Travis needs to speak to me pronto."
She rummages through her pockets, pulling out two twenties.
EM: "Lunch is on me. Stay as long as you like. I'll catch up with you again."
Risa blinks, watching Eden get to her feet, grab an umbrella from the seat next to her and start for the front door.
SR: "Nani??"
Risa looks confused. She sighs and goes back to concentrating on the pancakes...
(NOTE: Eden Morgan appears with gracious approval)
