Dirge: It was the right decision. There wasn’t a choice to make.
Hastings: I’m aware.
Dirge: You seem troubled.
Hastings: I turned my back on a man that has been my brother, that I’ve taken into the trenches for years, who has been with me since I first won the Global Title all those years ago.
Dirge: By beating him.
Hastings: Right, and I followed it up by beating you. Do we throw you out next?
The Greater Evil folds his arms.
Dirge: We all agreed to wait until you were ready to do it. If you weren’t ready, you should have told us.
Hastings: It wasn’t going to get any easier. I’m not a fool. Travis was dragging us down, and if there is any hope for him to turn things around for himself, this was necessary. That doesn’t mean I have to like it.
Dirge: And if we never did things we didn’t like, none of us would have made it as far as we have. You know this wasn’t personal for any of us. I respect Travis for what he has accomplished, that’s why we started down this road together. It just became best for us to go our separate ways, and these sorts of things are best done quickly, like tearing off a band-aid.
Hastings: Maybe that is the difference between you and me. I have no problem making everything personal.
Dirge: Isn’t that what left you spinning your wheels the past few years?
Donovan glares at him.
Hastings: You’re a pain in the ass.
Donovan stands up and picks up a bag.
Hastings: If you’ll excuse me, I have some business to attend to.
Dirge: You’re not going to Travis, I hope?
Donovan hesitates a moment.
Hastings: I should.
Dirge: Donovan…
Hastings: I was thinking I’d just go fuck with Cypress for a bit, blow off some steam.
Dirge: Not exactly the most productive use of your time, but you might need it. Maybe you should take Remi with you.
Hastings: What do I want to do that for?
Dirge: Because we are the present and he is the future, he is going to become the legacy we all leave behind one day. Consider it a bonding opportunity.
