November 11
It is the man with patience to whom opportunities most frequently present themselves.
Infinity saw the dawn of a new era. Hastings, Roberts, Dirge, and Wallace all came together and declared themselves the Puppet Masters of UGWC. They used the Global Challenge to install a Creative Director they could control and stole the World Heavyweight Championship away from Cypress Morgan.
I watched.
Over the next several months, they pulled the strings of all those around them, leading them on with false hopes and teased successes, all while maintaining their position and keeping a stranglehold on power and control. Hastings weathered the assaults of upstarts and rebels, surviving with the championship month after month.
I took notes.
The puppeteers cast aside the broken Roberts and replaced him with a newer model. It proved to be their first misstep when he caused Hastings to finally lose the title at Outlast, and things continued to unravel with the catalyst of Eden Morgan’s power play at Sin City.
I found my moment.
I have Roberts positioned perfectly and ready to push Hastings into a new cycle of obsession. Dirge spirals into obscurity as his house of cards begins to tumble apart. Vain has been siphoned off, lured by UGWC’s latest shiny object. Remi Monroe, whose devotion and attention to the group has appeared questionable on more than one occasion, now holds the World Title.
And my opportunity presents itself.

“If you tell me to start actually promoting you as ‘Scared’ I will beat your ass right here on my desk.”
“Robert. Always a pleasure.”
Phrixus took a seat across the table from the Director of Human Resources.
“What do you want?”
“Just to say thank you.”
Ooley’s single visible eye squints.
“Old Bob hasn’t had that much to drink yet. Must be something wrong with you.”
“You need me, Robert, we both know that you recognize that, even if you do not want to admit it. The time is appropriate. The Puppet Masters, usurpers of a name you once championed yourself, are primed to fall. It will come at Horizons. I will take the World Heavyweight Championship from Monroe.”
“You better keep it in your pants for now. Pierce hasn’t made his choice yet.”
“You say that as though his decision is in doubt.”
“The way these asshole all pride themselves on being stupid and unpredictable, youre damn right it is in doubt. Even so, you have a tall order on your hands with those three. They’ve all given you problems before.”
Phrixus simple smiled, and stood and turned to leave.
“You’re welcome anyway.”
“You misunderstand me.”
Phrixus stopped at the door and turned back to the Creative Director.
“I am not the one of us that needs to say thank you.”

My issues with Jet Somers are well documented. He is little more than a glorified con man, often saying one thing and doing another, often oblivious to his own hypocrisy. It is hardly a special quality, yet one he would proudly champion if he was aware of it.
Somers was embarassed at Sin City. He was a failure at Battleground. He will be insignificant at Horizons. And he has brought it upon himself.
His status as an also-ran is one shared by Zane Scott. It was not all that long ago that Scott had become the unstoppable juggernaut of UGWC. I experienced it first hand at Horizons two years ago as he truly began his rise, and watched as it all came to a crashing halt one year later, one year ago. Scott fell into the background as the Puppet Masters came together, with Hastings in the role that perhaps should have been intended for Scott himself. There should be none with more motivation to take down the group more than Zane Scott.
Yet he finds himself subservient to a person against whom he has proved himself the better on more than one occasion.
Klaus vonKnorre presents himself as the most intriguing of my upcoming three opponents. There are many elements of this walking symbol that repulse me, yet I must admit a respect and admiration with which he held the Cross-Hemisphere Championship with pride and demanded that any and all that wanted it try to come and take it from him. Yet his pride came before his fall.
He may have more motivation to prove himself than anyone. He will need it, as he faces his biggest moment yet.
Remedy Monroe has proven that perhaps is greatest talent is his ability to continually escape the most devastating of situations. He serves as the perfect poster boy for the Puppet Masters, and he has evaded his comeuppance from me on multiple occasions in the past. All paths ahead of me converge, goals align, all at the perfect time.
Let us look to the Horizon.
