The scene opens to show 'Vain' Alan Wallace walking down the hallway towards his study. Upon entering, the camera pans around to show Simon 'The Scholar' Wellington seated at Vain's desk, furiously typing away on his laptop.
"Aren't you finished yet? You realize Vain has a speaking engagement before he has to catch his flight, correct?"
Simon looks up at Vain with a perturbed look upon his face.
"You are extremely pushy today, Alan. Allow me to send these few emails, and then we can depart."
"Need I remind you that 'The Vain One' was quite enjoying himself when you got here, and it was only at your prodding that I sent the harem on their way, so that I could get ready? And yet here you are, holding me up."
"It's business, Alan. I'm taking care of a few things that you should have days ago. The harem must have kept you pretty busy these last two or three days."
"Don't hate, Simon. Appreciate. You need to let loose from time to time and enjoy life. You're wound up entirely too tightly."
"I'll be sure to take that under advisement, Mr. Wallace."
"Take it under advisement all you like, Simon. Just do it quickly. I've told the driver that the car is to leave in ten. You're either in it, or you're not. Your call."
Vain turns and disappears around the corner. A slight grin begins to appear on Simon's face, as he clicks 'Send' on the remaining two emails he had been working on.
"You're welcome, Alan."
==============================================
Vain is shown standing just inside of a doorway. His foot is against the wall, and his arms are crossed over his chest, as he watches the spectacle that is before him. With each person that speaks, his foot continues to tap more rapidly. Finally, having had enough of the excuses and sob stories, he begins making his way towards the front of the room, interrupting the man who had been speaking.
"I'll be perfectly honest here people…I am utterly amazed at what I am hearing right now. Truly flabbergasted at the sheer idiocy that currently abounds in this room."
Vain walks up towards the podium, his customary smirk replaced with a confused scowl. Using his right hand, he shoves the man - he said his name was Dennis, but that is inconsequential - that had been speaking back a few steps, and takes his place in front of the microphone. Looking out into the crowd, he begins shaking his head back and forth.
"Do you imbeciles not realize that every act you take in life, that they're all based upon a gamble. Life itself is a gamble…a game of chance…a matter of choices. Each choice that you make will directly affect a future event. And that is what makes life, in general, so damned exciting to live."
Vain begins pointing out at various people as he continues shaking his head back and forth, admonishing them for their complete and utter stupidity.
"Living any other way will only lead to dull, unimportant people, living droll, mediocre lives. And I'm sorry to say, but Vain refuses to live that way. Why anyone else would refuse to take chances…would refuse to gamble on their own success…it's just astonishing to me."
He gives the crowd a dismissive wave of his hand.
"Just one more reason why I will forever be better than all of you."

Subject: A Champion's Actions
Ms. Risa,
It has taken me quite some time to properly formulate the words that I have wanted to speak to you, ever since you attempted to resign from the Unified Global Wrestling Coalition. Even now as I type this, it is slightly difficult to properly convey to you the level of disdain that I hold towards you, because of your dishonorable actions not quite two weeks ago.
You were a champion, Ms. Risa, though your actions were anything but champion-like. Do you not understand the lineage of the championship that you so thoughtlessly wanted to just relinquish? Do you not realize how important the Cross-Hemisphere Championship is, to not only UGWC, but to the wresting industry as a whole? The wrestlers that have held that championship have done so with pride and determination, and each and every one of them gave it everything that they had, each time they were scheduled to defend it.
And due to certain alleged backstage politics, you wanted to just up and quit? Those are the actions only of a farce of a champion, Ms. Risa. A farce.
Need I remind you that the only reason you even had the chance to hold that championship, was because my client willingly relinquished the Cross-Hemisphere Title? No, not for actions similar to yours…he chose to do so, for the chance to wrestle for the UGWC World Championship: a title that he won, and a title that he has defended against all comers ever since.
But therein lies the difference between those that are honorable, and those that are not. And no matter what you continued to tell yourself throughout your career, there was no honor in anything that you chose to do.
'Vain' Alan Wallace was a great Cross-Hemisphere Champion, just like he is a great World Champion. That was one title that you weren't able to weasel your way into holding, wasn't it, Ms. Risa? That fact is probably for the best though, seeing as how one must have heart to hold a title of such importance.
Quite honestly, you made the best decision that you could have made, as sickening as it is. You see, my client was eyeing a possible match against you, Ms. Risa, at some point in the future. But after all the rumors that have been flying around backstage, in my estimation it is for the best that you are no longer employed here within the UGWC. Because Alan would have systematically taken you apart, Ms. Risa. For everything that you are; everything that you claimed you were; and everything that you were never destined to be.
I have been told that it was suggested that Alan's success has only been possible, due to whatever connections that he may or may not have in this company. Any one with any semblance of common sense, however, can see that no matter how arrogant he may be…no matter what actions he may take that the general public finds reprehensible…when he steps in between those ropes, he give one-hundred and ten percent, each and every time. He is where he is, and has won what he has won, simply because he goes out and proves himself to be the very best that this industry has to offer.
You could have been held in the same regard, Ms. Risa. Sadly, instead of bettering yourself within the squared circle, you chose to make excuses, instead.
Congratulations on being exactly what I thought you to be, Ms. Risa. I'm sure it has made Ichiro extremely proud.
Regards,
Simon Wellington

A man in the back rises to his feet.
"Why are you even present during a Gambler's Anonymous meeting? You don't belong here."
Vain stands in silence for a few moments, looking out at the detest that stares back at him. He finally speaks.
"Gamblers Anonymous? That is what this meeting is for? I was under the impression that I was here to speak to people down on their luck. Someone remind 'The Vain One' to scold his secretary when he gets back to Los Angeles."
Vain leans against the podium, a look of consternation on his face.
"So tell me…what do you people call yourselves? Gamble-holics? Gambler-holics? Does the letter 'a' make an appearance in there somewhere? Whatever it is, is it all one word, or is it hyphenated? Multiple hyphens? Please, someone apprise 'Mr. Ego' of the specifics, so that I can use the correct terminology when I am laughing about the entire group of you at a later date and time."
A feisty woman in the middle of the crowd stands, shaking her finger at Vain as she speaks.
"We all suffer from a gambling addiction, you pompous asshole. You can call us what you like. We'll just call you a dick."
"Vain would apologize, but he wouldn't mean it. So please, sit down while the adult speaks."
The entire group begins to speak in harsh tones at their uninvited guest. Vain ignores it as he takes the microphone off of the stand, and walks out in front of the podium. He begins to loudly clear his throat into the mic, until the last of the dissenters stops talking.
"So the reason that you people are here, is because you are addicted to gambling? Really? See, to a man like me, I don't see people that are addicted to gambling. I simply see people that are looking for a crutch to use, in order to defend their actions. And you should all be ashamed of yourselves."
A few members of the crowd begins to gripe again, but Vain raises his hand into the air.
"When 'The Vain One' speaks, the peons all listen. So if all of you could be so kind as to shut your mouths for a bit, you may just learn something."
The atmosphere is filled with tension, but Vain doesn't seem to notice. As he walks along the front row of chairs that are situated before him, he stops at a few select people, asking each of them why they decided such a meeting was conducive to their current well-being. The responses include…
"I lost my wife and my house, because I like to bet the ponies."
"I lost my children's inheritance on last year's Super Bowl."
"I lost my life savings playing the slots."
Vain slowly makes his way back behind the podium, placing the microphone back into its stand.
"I guess it is safe to assume that similar stories will be told by the majority of the people in this room…so due to the choices that you people made, you all lost something that is near and dear to you. Is that the general consensus?"
Most members of the audience answer in the affirmative.
"And I guess it is safe to assume that you blame the institution itself, instead of looking at yourselves in the mirror?"
This time his question is met with silence, with a lot of the people before him hanging their head in shame, as they ponder what he has just said. Vain smiles.
"Allow 'The Money Maker' to offer a rebuttal to that silence, if you would."
This time he doesn't await a response.
"Do you people realize just how much the casino industry actually helps the economy? How much it helps the states that these various casinos thrive in? We're talking about an industry that rakes in the cash…billions and billions of dollars…and a small percentage of that money can go towards a litany of other ventures, which only leads to a positive economic impact."
"Extra revenues for states and cities. That local police force that could use a few more officers? The money provided from the gaming industry could be used to hire a bigger police force, or at the very least, provide better training for the one already in place."
"Extra revenues for the state road. How many times do you have to take your personal vehicle in to have it aligned, all because of that pesky pothole on Main Street that only seems to get bigger and bigger, with each passing week?"
"Extra revenues for the school systems. No matter what state I find myself in, I'm unfortunate enough to hear people's plight regarding their education system - or should I say, lack thereof. Teachers unqualified to teach groveling to a crack whore…like Nicole? Revenue from gaming could allow the schools to afford better teachers. Which, in the long run, is a great thing for the kids that will eventually be running this country."
"Not to mention the need for various other business ventures. When you have thousands of people visiting a place each day, obviously there will be a need for more restaurants, more grocers, more gas stations. Which leads to more employment, right?"
"From a personal standpoint, Vain cannot attest to gambling much. Sure, I've thrown down a few bets on football games over the years. Usually do fairly well, too. Because I love the game, and I have actually studied it over the years. If you do your homework, and you really put in the effort, good things will happen."
"But this goes far beyond what the masses usually think of, when they think of the term 'gambling'.
"I touched on it earlier, because everything we do in life is a gamble. Getting behind the wheel of a vehicle after working a twelve-hour shift? Gamble. Deciding to fly coach, in order to save a few bucks? Gamble. Going to a buffet for dinner? Terrible gamble. But alas, all of those types of choices that you make, they help make you who you are as a person in life."
"Some people gamble on the Dolphins to cover the spread, and some people gamble on a fart. And with either of those scenarios, you win some, and you lose some. But you learn from it, and you strive to do better next time."
"Hell, I'll be perfectly honest. My life has been nothing but one big damn gamble over the last ten years or so."
"I gambled on my very own tenacity and self confidence, when I first set out to become a professional wrestler. I had no idea what I was doing; all I knew was that wrestling was what I wanted to do in my life. I gambled on the simple fact that I thought I would have what it took to eventually be successful in this industry. And it wasn't easy, especially at first, but I learned from each and every mistake that I made, and each time out, I became better and better."
"I became a better wrestler."
"And I became a better man."
"And ultimately, I became the best damn wrestler that Headstrong Wrestling had ever employed."
"When things went south there, I took a gamble that retirement was the option that I needed to take. Was it scary as hell? You bet your asses it was, but I immersed myself into other ventures. I became a partner in a few business ventures, and made money hand over first."
"And then the biggest gamble of all…returning to professional wrestling with UGWC. Nobody thought I could do it. I was too old, I was past my prime, I was merely brought in for nostalgia purposes. The younger generation of wrestler was sure to work circles around me, as I had lost a step, and wouldn't be able to recreate the success that I had almost a decade before."
"Good thing I bet on myself."

Subject: Betting the House
Dearest Prospective Champions,
Though a couple of you already know me, allow me to introduce myself. My name is Simon Wellington, and I am the advocate for the current UGWC Heavyweight Champion of the World, 'Vain' Alan Wallace.
I would like to start off by congratulating each and every one of you for the way that you have conducted your affairs during the courses of your respective careers, regardless of the longevity that said careers may or may not have. It is no accident that the five of you find yourselves in the positions that you do: each of you have the opportunity to do something that all others have failed to do since March 23, 2015, and that is to beat Alan Wallace, and become the next UGWC World Champion.
A tough task, as others would be willing to tell you, but a task that I know each and every one of you are up to facing. The only question that I pose to each of you is this: are you up to the task of staring down disappointment, when each and every one of you end 'Sin City', the same way that you begin it…by staring at the top of the mountain, gazing upon a man that has no peers?
I hope that none of you take offense to those remarks, as they are not meant to be derogatory in the slightest. You all have very unique skills, and each and every one of you have the skills that would be conducive to helping mold a future World Champion. You must remember, however, that I know Alan Wallace as well as anyone. And regardless of how little respect some - or all - of you have for him, I can attest to one thing most certainly: Alan Wallace is a huge proponent of the future stars of this industry. Unfortunately for each and every one of you, that future is most definitely not now.
With that said, I would be remiss if I did not acknowledge the fact that Vain is at a supreme disadvantage going into this pay per view event. I understand that, but most importantly, Alan understands that as well.
To get past a challenge from a wrestler as skilled as Eden Morgan is an accomplishment in and of itself. The possibility that accomplishing that could only lead to another match, against the likes of competitors such as yourselves? Trust me when I say, that very real possibility is all that Alan is thinking about. Some might even say that the event has him worried…but I am not of that opinion.
I only see him more focused than ever before. And that is saying quite a bit, considering the career that the man has had, and the opponents that he has faced for the better part of the last decade.
Eden Morgan has been one of the brightest stars that this industry has ever seen over the last two years. Time and time again, she has faced off against the biggest of odds…and more times than not, she has managed to overcome them. She has been manipulated, lied to, disregarded, disrespected, and at times, all but forgotten. She has seen her family and friends turn against her, and she has suffered more heartache than any one person should at the age of twenty-four. And still, she soldiers on, making all of her detractors eat their words, as she continues climbing up the ranks of the best professional wrestlers in history. She should be applauded for all that she has done in this industry, and all of us should be extremely thankful for what she means to this business.
Mr. Barnes is one of the legends of Pure Pain Wrestling. At one time, he was one of the most recognizable faces in the entire industry. Then tragedy struck, and he all but disappeared. I commend him for being able to make it through such trying adversity in one piece, even if that piece relies on the bottle to get him through. I do not know that pain though…I couldn't imagine it in a million years. So the fact that he is back, and has positioned himself to possibly be the next World Champion? I have the utmost respect for the man simply known as Barnes.
Ichabod has been a fixture in the world of professional wrestling for as long as I can remember. And each company that he has worked for, whether it was Netlink, HSW, or UGWC, he has definitely left his mark on the professional wrestling business. He is a true icon, in every sense of the word…and his battles with The Mainstreamer are legendary. He is still the enigma that he was all those years ago, and not knowing exactly what it is that goes through his mind on a weekly basis is undoubtedly the attribute that should strike fear into the hearts of his opponents the most.
Killian King is a man that Alan has quite the history with. The two men have known each other for years, and by both of their admissions, it would be Killian that helped Alan the most during his formative years in this business. Killian is undoubtedly the closest friend that Alan has in this business, and both men trust the other fully. Everyone remembers 'Sex and Violence', and everyone knows the type of Bedlam Champion that Mr. King has been. Killian deserves the chance to face Alan for the World Title…maybe more so than anyone else in the company. He and I have had many talks, and I know that Alan would be at his proudest, if he were able to defend his championship against Killian King.
The start of Larry's career could possibly mirror that of Eden Morgan. He has the determination, the toughness, and the love for this business to be the best wrestler in the entire industry. It just takes time. Larry gave Vain all he could handle just this past week on Synergy. While most may view Larry as green, Alan sees him as hungry. And a hungry wrestler…is an extremely dangerous wrestler.
All five have what it takes to become the next UGWC World Heavyweight Champion. Just not at 'Sin City', as Alan Wallace will have quite a bit to say about that.
I could go into all of the accolades that Vain has had bestowed upon him. I could go into all of the championships that he has won. I could go into all of the wrestlers that he has humbled. But all of that has been said before, so instead, I will focus on why 'Vain' Alan Wallace is just better than the competition that is laid out before him.
While Vain respects everything that Eden Morgan has accomplished during her career, he also understands that she has never been as wholesome or as innocent as she may like to believe. Simply put, he doesn't trust Ms. Morgan any further than he can throw her. And that is a gross understatement.
While she has done her best to portray herself at times as the damsel in distress, she has been just as good at doing everything in her power, to attain the power and respect that she feels she is owed. Start and stop with the Colin Zale situation. To this day, she will tell anyone that will listen, that what happened to Mr. Zale was a travesty of epic proportions, and that each person associated with that act needs to suffer the consequences. Ironically enough, she is slated to face one of those people in a few short days.
'Vain' Alan Wallace.
The problem with that entire scenario, however, is that Eden had reached out to Alan long before that incident occurred. She had already mapped out her plan to create 'The Syndicate', and to take over the Piercing Media Network, turning on both Somers AND Pierce. The attack on Colin Zale was merely a tactic used to divert everyone's attention away from her true motives. She will tell anyone that will listen that she is still out to garner a bit of revenge for Colin Zale, but she isn't concerned with revenge. She is only concerned with the perception that she wants everyone to have of her. Especially Colin.
What you see is what you get with 'Vain' Alan Wallace. He doesn't strive to coerce people into doing his bidding, and he's too old to play childish games of manipulation. All he cares about is being the best. What will you do, Ms. Morgan, when you square off against a man that you can't manipulate as you see fit?
Vain admires the tenacity that someone like Barnes has displayed since he returned to the wrestling industry. But a wrestling ring is the last place that you need to be, Quentin. You're merely a shell of what you once were. It's understandable, but it's also your biggest weakness. Do you not think Vain will use every advantage that he can, if you win the High Rollers match, and decide to cash in your shot against him? You were away for years - Vain understands what that is like, as he himself came back after a lengthy time away. The difference between the two of you is that Vain is back to top form. Hell, he's better than he was before. You? You're still getting your legs underneath of you. Vain will use every move in his arsenal to tire you out, and then pin you for the three count. And if by some stroke of luck you manage to withstand the full assault that Alan will wage against you, maybe he chooses another, more personal route…
How is the wife these days, Quentin?
Vain is astonished that Ichabod has managed to stay at - or near - the top of this industry, for as long as he has. Especially considering the 'extracurriculars' that he is involved in. The two men have met before here in UGWC, and the first time that occurred, Ichabod wasn't seen for months.
Was it due to some vicious terror cell that needed to be eradicated? Or was it simply because Ichabod chose to stay out of the public eye, as he healed from his wounds, and massaged his bruised ego?
Ichabod has seen Vain at his best. He has seen Vain go into a match that was hand-picked by Ichabod's own friend, as a way for the two of them to rid the wrestling industry of 'Vain' Alan Wallace once and for all. And he has seen Vain continually rise to the challenge, and come out on top.
You couldn't get the job done when you had Martin Graber's help, Ichabod. How do you think you will ever slay the giant that is Vain, in a one-on-one matchup?
Killian King will eventually go down as the greatest Bedlam Champion that this company has ever seen. The problem with that is, he won't find himself in the Bedlam division on Monday. 'Vain' Alan Wallace is the World Heavyweight Champion, Killian. And for good reason. Friends or not, that title means everything to him. In order for you to take it, you just might have to kill him.
But how can you kill what refuses to die, Mr. King? How do you conquer a man that refuses to be conquered?
Larry will be the biggest star in this industry in ten years time. Mark my words. He has all of the tools required. All he needs to do is further grasp the mental aspect of this sport.
At the end of your career, Mr. Lawrence, you will look back fondly at all of the big matches; at all of the titles that you will undoubtedly win; at the legacy that you will have created. And this possible match at 'Sin City' will be where the Legend of Larry will officially be born.
Not because you will come out victorious, and be crowned the new World Champion. No, no, merely because Monday will be your first lesson in what it takes to be a true legend in this business.
Your Godfather has told you all of the stories. You feel you know the type of person that Alan is. You feel that you can take that knowledge, and use it to your advantage. Do you know what the biggest problem with that line of thought is, Larry?
For everything that those two went through…no matter the animosity that simmered between them, and no matter how long the bad blood has lasted…Alan still respects Martin Graber, because Martin has earned that respect from Alan.
You? All you've earned yourself is a chance at suffering the same fate that your Godfather has suffered multiple times. All you've earned is the chance to attain the knowledge that Martin knows all too well. And that is when 'Vain' Alan Wallace is inside of that ring, he will do whatever it takes to come out victorious.
And he doesn't care who you are affiliated with, or who you are related to, because all of that is merely inconsequential bullshit.
And Vain will successfully step over that each and every time out.
In summation, I truly congratulate all of you for the opportunity that has been presented. And I take great pride in knowing that all of those hopes and dreams are about to be crushed by someone that is truly 'Your Better'.
Good luck. You're going to need it.
Regards,
Simon Wellington
==============================================
Vain's speech continues, as the entire audience listens intently.
"To date, I've won the Cooperative Championship on multiple occasions; I've won the Cross-Hemisphere Championship on multiple occasions - and currently do not hold it because I chose to allow someone else the opportunity to make something of themselves; and I am the current Heavyweight Champion of the World."
"In essence, I took all of the detractors that I had when I first came back, and I shoved my successes down each and every one of their throats. I had bet on myself. And just like I knew I would, I had won."
"But it isn't just me. No, no…many of my coworkers are also gambling on their very own skill, in hopes that they come up 7's at 'Sin City'. Eden Morgan is betting on her age, her skill level, and her determination and confidence, as she challenges 'The Vain One' for the title that he holds most dear: The UGWC Heavyweight Championship of the World. Not to be out-done, but many others have gambled on themselves to be able to withstand the punishment that will be doled out during the High Rollers match, all so that they can gain the opportunity to challenge whoever wins the title match between Eden and myself - whether that be at 'Sin City' itself, or that be at Battleground."
Vain begins making his towards the exit.
"I would be remiss if I didn't admit that each and every one of them, whether it's Eden Morgan, Larry, Barnes, Ichabod, or Killian King…they all have what it takes to go all in, and win the title. They all have what it takes to become great champions in their own right. They all have what it takes…to lead the wrestling industry into the next great boom period."
"They are athletic, tough, and definitely worthy to be called the Heavyweight Champion of the world. Unfortunately for them, there is one thing they are not."
Vain drops the microphone to the floor, and opens the door that leads out into the parking area. He steps through, and then turns back around and smiles.
"They are not 'Vain' Alan Wallace."
FIN

He gives the crowd a dismissive wave of his hand.
"Just one more reason why I will forever be better than all of you."
