Saturday, October 18 - Miami, Florida
Seemingly signing an autograph every ten to fifteen feet, 'Vain' Alan Wallace is having a tough time just exiting Miami International Airport. Looking weary from his travels, his response is the same to each individual that requests his John Hancock on whatever inanimate object they happen to be holding.
"The pleasure is all yours, I'm sure."
This continues for another twenty minutes, as Vain wearily drags his luggage behind him. Finally reaching the doors, he takes a deep breath.
"Finally."
Stepping out into the sunny Miami afternoon, he looks around a few times. He finally comes to rest on a limousine off to the left of the entrance. He sees that Simon Wellington Is standing alongside of it, and is motioning in his direction.
"Over here, Alan."
With a tired smile, Vain makes his way over to the waiting vehicle, and he and Simon shake hands.
"You look like hell, Alan."
"'The Vain One' appreciates your candor, Mr. Wellington."
"And I, yours, Mr. Wallace. Reecie! The bags!"
"Yes suh, Mr. Simon, Suh."
A middle-aged colored man exits from the driver’s seat, and shuffles around to the back of the limo. Opening the trunk, he slowly makes his way over and grabs a hold of Vain's suitcase. Vain and Simon both watch the entire time.
"Come now, Reecie…we haven't got all day."
"Yes suh."
He places the luggage into the trunk, shuts it, and then slowly makes his way back around to the front of the limo. Vain looks at Simon suspiciously.
"Really, Simon?"
"What? Reecie has been under my employ for two decades. He's a good man, and a good worker."
"You do realize that it's 2015, and not 1965, right?"
"Good help is hard to find these days, Mr. Wallace. You should know that better than anyone."
"I'm apparently learning it more by the day, Mr. Wellington."
"Funny, Alan. Come! We must get going. We have much to talk about."
With a shrug, Vain slides into the back of the limo, with Simon sliding in and sitting across from him. Vain cracks open a bottle of VOSS, as Simon begins making a margarita. He speaks as he does so.
"So tell me, Alan. When last we spoke, you stated there was someone you needed to speak with. I assume that was the nature of the hastily-planned trip that you just returned from. So tell me, who, exactly, did you go to speak to?"
Having already drank half the bottle of water, Vain slowly screws the cap back on, as he stares over at Simon Wellington.
"The only person that I felt would be the best possible proxy I could hope for. Klaus vonKnorre."
Simon stops what he is doing, and looks up at his client.
"I'm sorry, I must be confused. In my concentration of fixing this drink, I must have misunderstood what you just said. For a moment, it sounded like you said you went to speak to Mr. vonKnorre."
"That's because I did, Simon."
Having finished making his drink, Simon looks down at it, and then back to Vain. He downs the margarita, and then begins making another.
"Do you not remember what all has gone on between the two of you, Alan? Have you forgotten all of the hideous things that the two of you have done to one another? He electrocuted you, for Christ sake. Why in God's name would you ask him to wrestle on behalf of you?"
Vain sits in silence for a few seconds, carefully weighing his words. Then with a slight smile, he speaks.
"Because Simon…I know that vonKnorre will do whatever it takes to win a match. And that mentality is exactly what I need for Monday."
"Assuming he doesn't decide to just purposely screw you over, of course."
"Yes, but that is a risk that I'm willing to take, Simon."
Vain continues smiling over at Simon after his reply, causing Simon to down his second margarita, and immediately begin making another.
"Something on your mind, Simon?"
Simon quickly downs his third margarita.
"Not at all, Alan."

Thursday, October 29 - Chicago, Illinois
The scene opens inside the very ring that weekly episodes of Synergy are held. A table rests in the middle, with a chair on either side. On the side where the plethora of cameras and audio equipment reside is none other than UGWC Backstage Interviewer Roxy Malone. Seated across from her is none other than the former UGWC Heavyweight Champion of the World, 'Vain' Alan Wallace.
As Roxy goes through her notes one last time, the production crew begins counting down from ten. During this entire time, Vain sits silently in his seat, smiling across at his soon-to-be interviewer.
"Good evening ladies and gentlemen, and thank you for joining us here this evening. Tonight we have a very special interview that will air live, only on the UGWC network, which you can get for the low-low price of zero-ninety-nine a month. I am Roxy Malone, and my guest this evening is none other than the man that has ruled the company for the better part of the last six months; he is the man of many monikers, and the former Heavyweight Champion of the World; he is 'Vain' Alan Wallace. Thank you for taking the time to join us here this evening, Vain."
"The pleasure is all mine, Ms. Malone."
"I have a lot that I would like to speak with you about here this evening, Vain, and we will get to all of it in due time. However, the last time that we saw you, you were ringside during a fourway match, where the winner would help determine the stipulation for your World Title match at Battleground. As we all saw, the proxy that you had chosen for that match - Klaus vonKnorre - came up on the short end of that match…meaning you will be at the whim of another wrestler, in a match that you must excel in if you plan on winning back the title that you prided yourself on holding for one-hundred eighty-nine days. How much of a setback was that loss for you, in your quest to regain what you lost at Sin City?"
"Allow Vain to begin by stating it's a joy to finally be interviewed by someone that is all business, and is astute at the job they are doing. Thank you for that, Ms. Malone."
"As for your question, Vain doesn't view it as a setback at all. In fact, I view it as a golden opportunity."
"How so, if you do not mind my asking?"
"Vain doesn’t mind at all, darling. While it may have put 'The Vain One' in the driver’s seat, so to speak, in his quest to once again become the UGWC Heavyweight Champion of the World…Klaus' ineptitude at securing victory in a match with the likes of Quentin Barnes will make it all the sweeter for Vain to once again raise that championship high above his head at the end of the night in Johannesburg. To do so in a match of someone else's choosing, and still come out victorious? I couldn't think of a better way to sever all ties with those lesser individuals that I have been forced to be around for the better part of the last year."
"Hindsight being twenty-twenty, if you had it to do all over again, would you still have chosen Klaus vonKnorre to represent you in that match?"
"You can't rewrite history, Ms. Malone, no matter how much you kick yourself in the tail for the ones made. I made the best possible decision that I could with the options I had. The result is what it is."
"I still feel as if I should ask, Vain…with the history the two of you have, why Klaus vonKnorre?"
"The better question, Ms. Malone, is why not? As I have stated on numerous occasions, Klaus and I know each other extremely well. I know first-hand what he is capable of when he puts his mind to it. Because of that, I opted to choose him to represent me. It just didn't work out as I may have initially wanted, but like I said, it's better in the long run this way."
"Speaking of your past, we have seen you square off against some of the best that UGWC has had to offer over the last two years. How do you feel those past experiences prepares you for what you have in front of you at Battleground?"
"Vain has literally beaten a 'Who's Who' during his stay in UGWC. Nobody that has been put in front of me has been the same after the fact."
"Jordan King was a household name here in the UGWC, as well as this company’s predecessor. He won numerous titles during his career, and was one of the most beloved entertainment professionals to ever step into a UGWC ring. Yet we all saw what happened when he set his sights on 'The Money Maker'."
"I abused him in the ring each time out. I embarrassed him, I humiliated him, and ultimately, I forced him into early retirement. And I sent Erika Langford and Paul Cockatoo with him."
"Kurt Brady was a poor man's Vain. He came into this company with all of the bravado and arrogance of a 'Vain' Alan Wallace, with one-tenth of the talent. The problem with Mr. Brady, however, was that he was entirely too stupid to realize that he was overmatched in the short feud that he and 'Mr. Ego' were involved in."
"And where has he been since?"
"I proved without a shadow of a doubt that a cheap imitation will never outshine the original incarnation, and Mr. Brady tucked tail and ran, crawling back under whatever rock he originally crawled out from, when he was idiotic enough to think that he could stand toe-to-toe with someone the caliber of 'Vanity at its Finest'."
"Jezebel Saint was one of the most well-known wrestlers to ever lace up a pair of boots. She was tough, she was intelligent in the ring, and she had the backing not only of the people, but also of the rough and tumble crew that her miscreant husband led."
"With all of that going for her, she felt that it was her duty to rid the UGWC of 'The Excellence of Sexecution', all because she felt that I was past my prime, and didn't deserve the niche that I had created for myself. And you know what happened to her, Ms. Malone…"
"In a match of her own choosing…a match where she was supposed to rid this company of the ego that defined 'Mr. Ego'…I not only won, but I ended her career. Every time that she sees the scar on her neck, she is reminded that I am the one that reigned supreme in our feud. I am the reason that she is solely a stay-at-home mother now. I, was simply better, than her."
"The aforementioned Klaus vonKnorre. A man that I have fought both with, and against. A man who, at one time, was one of the toughest individuals to ever step into a wrestling ring."
"A man who some may say had Vain's number at one point in time."
"And then I took the UGWC World Title from him. And that lone act left him a shell of his former self."
"I forced him into exile, causing him to lick his wounds, and question his choice of career. He came back after some time away, and though he has started to carve out a niche of his own again…you only must look at how he performed in the four-way match this past Monday to realize that he is a far cry of what he once was. I had wondered if he was fully back or not, which is the main reason why I chose him as my proxy. And yet even though I lost on that gamble, I still came out ahead…because it only served to prove that Klaus vonKnorre still isn't the same since losing the World Title to me."
"And I mustn't forget Martin Graber. A man so consumed with needing revenge, that he allowed his hatred to fester for eight years, just for a chance to get me in the ring once more. And then again…and again…and again…and again."
"Tell me again how that worked out for Mr. Graber?"
"And in between all of those wrestlers, there have been countless more. And yet in each case, my opponents have come out worse for the wear."
"You ask how my past experiences prepare me for what lies ahead? I ask you, with my past experiences, how does that prepare my opponents for me?"
"Even if we're speaking of people that have paid particular attention to what you can do, during the entirety of your championship reign?"
"As if Vain hasn't paid close attention to them, as well…"

Thursday, October 29 - Chicago, Illinois
Vain has opened a bottle of water, as Roxy Malone shuffles through her notes.
"During your stay here within the Unified Global Wrestling Coalition, you have been involved with some of the most dominant factions that the wrestling industry has ever seen. Do you feel as if those experiences have molded you for what is to come?"
"Vain would say that his experiences prior to joining the UGWC is what molded him for what he did to help elevate those factions to the heights they reached."
"Would you care to elaborate, Vain?"
"During my time in Headstrong Wrestling, I was able to truly learn what being a champion was all about. His name was Dezsarus, and he was the leader of a faction known as 'The Covenant'."
"Now I know how that groups name can cause chills to run down the spine of those that used to be associated with GIW, but bear with me if you would, Ms. Malone."
"Dezsarus was a man amongst boys during our stay in HSW. Challenger after challenger gave him their best shot, and he stood tall over all. I should know…I was one of them."
"But even in our battles, he proved to be the one that all of us should look to, in order to become the standard-bearer of whatever organization we might find ourselves in."
"He showed me what it was like…not to be a champion…but to be the champion."
"In order for Vain to learn that lesson, however, we had to take out the trash, so to speak."
"We had to take out 'The Playaz Club'."
"A talented group, yes…but ultimately, a group of B-Plus players, trapped in an A-Team's world."
"Dezsarus and I knew, that in order to give the fans what they truly deserved - a match between the two best wrestlers that company had - we had to first dispel the ignorance that was 'The Playaz Club'. Only then could 'Vain' Alan Wallace and Dezsarus truly know who the best was."
"I'm not ashamed to admit that I came up on the short end of the stick against Dezsarus. I had proven myself as his greatest challenger. I had proved that I was well on my way in this industry. And in the process, I had learned what it was like to create an entity that couldn't be touched by the rest of the peons of the industry."
"With that background, is it any wonder that two entities looked to me, in order to elevate them to elite status?"
"The Puppet Masters and The Syndicate: two groups that caused fear and loathing amongst all, just with the mere mention of their names. But do you honestly believe those two stables would have even been half as successful as they were, without 'The Clit Whisperer'?"
"If you answer yes, you're only kidding yourself."
"The other members of 'The Puppet Masters' had all seen better days before deciding to align with 'Vain' Alan Wallace. They had seen massive success earlier in their careers, but at the point and time before they came together, they all had stagnated to the point of irrelevancy. Enter 'The Vain One'. Immediately our stock rose, and we suddenly found ourselves in firm control of all operations within the company. Much to the dismay of everyone else on the roster."
"The other members of 'The Syndicate' had been young upstarts, creating quite the names for themselves in the earlier goings of their careers. They had won titles, they had made money, and they were creating a legacy for themselves. But they each plateaued, and were doing nothing but spinning their wheels right before deciding to band together. Enter 'The Epitome of Sexy'. As soon as it became common knowledge that Vain was associated with them, merchandise sales…pay per view buyrates…and ticket sales all went through the roof. With Vain as the champion, there wasn't a hotter thing in this industry than 'The Syndicate'. And the entirety of the roster detested us because of it."
"Alas, all good things must come to an end."
"Is it any wonder that when Vain left 'The Puppet Masters' to join 'The Syndicate', the other members all but disappeared?"
"Is it any wonder that with Vain ruling the company with an iron fist, the other members all but became forgotten?"
"Simply put…'The Good Vain' giveth…and 'The Good Vain' taketh away."
"It was by Vain's will that both 'The Puppet Masters' and 'The Syndicate' reigned supreme for as long as they did. And it was by Vain's success that both 'The Puppet Masters' and 'The Syndicate' imploded around themselves."
"The question isn't whether or not my association with those stables has molded me for the future. The question is how, exactly, has Vain's association with professional wrestling molded everyone for theirs."

Thursday, October 29 - Chicago, Illinois
"How would you like people to view the title reign that you had, Vain?"
"Vain feels that if there are people around the world that do not view Vain's World Championship reign as the single most important feat in this industry’s history…then they aren't intelligent enough to call themselves fans of professional wrestling."
"No disrespect Vain, but while your reign was quite impressive, it is far from the most impressive that this company and its predecessor companies have seen. That honor rests with the legend that went by the name of Tyvola."
"That is comparing apples to oranges, Ms. Malone. Yes, the animal known as Tyvola was a great champion, and he defended his title with pride. But I think it's safe to say that the level of talent during is reign was far below the talent that we have seen come into this coming over the time that I signed on the dotted line."
"That might be a matter of opinion, Vain."
"Hastings, Pierce, Fear, Gabby, Pax, Somers, NBK. Those were the wrestlers that Tyvola bested, during his illustrious reign as the Heavyweight Champion of the World. Outside of Gabby, all of those men are wrestlers that I have beaten, in some fashion, during my stay in the UGWC. Add in the likes of Jezebel Saint, Klaus vonKnorre, Martin Graber, Chaos…and who has the most impressive lineup, Ms. Malone?"
"Not to mention, that state of the most prestigious title in this industry was in severe flux before 'Yours Truly' wrapped it around his beautiful waist for the first time. From August 2014, to March 2015, six different people held that championship. Six different wrestlers, over the span of approximately seven months. And all told, there was one successful defense. One! The title had become a joke…a farce of a championship, where the holders did everything they could to win the championship…but couldn't be assed with doing what it took to keep the championship."
"It was a shameful display."
"Which is why I took such pride in defending the title every chance that I got. It was the most important title in this industry, and it deserved a champion that treated it with the respect it truly deserved."
"And regardless of how people may view me, that is exactly what I did."

"I would like to thank you for your time here this evening, Vain. It has truly been enlightening, to say the least."
"'The Personification of Perfection' does what he can, Ms. Malone."
"I'm sure you do, Vain. I just have one last question for you here this evening. Why do you feel that you would be the person that fans should hope to come out of Battleground victorious, thus becoming the UGWC World Champion?"
"Have you not been paying attention, Ms. Malone? Who would be a better option?"
"Would the people prefer to see someone that has been swimming in a sea of their own self-doubt for months? Someone embroiled in a constant battle with themself over who they are, who they were, and who they should be? Someone so hell-bent on proving how good they've been in the past, that's they're inadvertently handicapping their own future? Someone with all the talent in the world, but who can't get out of their own way long enough to realize it?"
"Or would they prefer someone that seems to be at the end of their proverbial rope? Someone that has seen far too much destruction, that they wouldn't have a clue how to go about building a new future? Someone that manipulates anyone and everyone, just for the mere pleasure of watching them squirm? Someone that hates where they've come from so much, that they would rather crash and burn on their own, instead of building relationships, and rebuilding burnt bridges?"
"Or would they prefer to see someone use the ones closest to them, all because they are jealous of other people’s successes? Someone who is only here due to the good intentions of a supposed friend? Someone who only cares about holding a championship, because it means someone better doesn't?"
"Do any of those options sound like what is best for the future of the UGWC, Ms. Malone?"
"No, I think it is quite obvious that the best option for the success of this company moving forward, is if 'Vain' Alan Wallace once again stands tall as the UGWC Heavyweight Champion of the World. It's what is best for this entire industry, Ms. Malone."
"Do you have anything that you would like to say directly to your opponents, Vain?"
"I will just leave it at this, Ms. Malone: The one inescapable fact about Zane Scott, Eden Morgan, and Killian King…"
"They aren't 'Vain' Alan Wallace."

Those choosing to ignore that which will only serve to make them better are merely spinning their wheels…stuck axle deep in the field of excrement they've made of their life.
So while you continue to make excuses, and continue to whine about what could have been, I will blaze another road of glory, and further cement my legacy as the single greatest wrestler that this industry has ever seen.
And while this may not come as news to you, you've shown an inability to learn from past mistakes. Maintain your focus on something of importance.
Might I suggest wrestling?

Those that do not learn from their mistakes are doomed to repeat them.
For you, truer words have never been spoken.
You were one of the fastest rising we had ever seen, but due to your own self-doubt and manipulations, your fall has been even more swift.
There's still time to right the wrongs that you have created, but the coldness of your soul does not allow for your heart to grow warm again.
What once was virtuous and pure, is now devoid of feeling. While your star shone bright on the biggest of stages, the final flame out will be what shines brightest of all.

Don't bite the hand that feeds you.
Unless you want the hand to bite back.
There have been many things said about me over the course of my career, but no matter what, at least people knew where I stood. I relied on my ability in the ring to cash the checks that my mouth may have written.
True talent is capable of standing on its own.
A fool's talent conceals itself to the world, choosing to show itself in the most cowardly of ways.
