For many people a new year means a fresh start, a new beginning.
Jason Reeves believes this.
Over the past year, he has watched his role fade away. Once upon a time, he was the premiere backstage interviewer, having earned his reputation for being relentless in his pursuit of a scoop or story. He has lost that position to the likes of people like Grey Coppi and Victoria Jensen. The depressing truth is that he doesn’t even rate high enough for Zane Scott to beat him down in the hope of making some convoluted statement.
But a new year can offer a fresh start.
Reeves: Travis, Travis! Can I get a word?
Synergy has ended. It was a night that featured a series of shocking twists, from Cypress Morgan being named the new Creative Director to Travis Pierce being inserted into the main event, now for the number one contendership to the World Heavyweight Championship, to Pierce’s attack on his long-time friend and partner, Jet Somers.
It is a somber expression on the face of Travis Pierce as he has just come through the curtain, and he initially has no discernable reaction to his name being called.
Reeves: Travis?
Travis suddenly snaps to attention, turning to face the interviewer.
Pierce: Bitch-Tits? Didn’t realize you still worked here.
Reeves: Thank you. Can you talk to us about what just happened out there?
Pierce: What, it’s some kind of late-breaking news? You saw it. Jet Somers made the same faulty assumption he’s been making for years. He thought that I was the Robin to his Batman, but the piercing truth is that I’m the Omega to his Alpha, I’m his ending.
Reeves: Why turn on Jet? You’ve been partners for what seems like forever.
Pierce: Jet has never known his place. He presumes too much, puts himself on too high a pedestal. Earlier tonight he assumed I would pick him as my replacement, after all, why wouldn’t I? Isn’t that what I do, defer to Jet Somers? After all, wasn’t he the real reason for all of the success, all of the accomplishments of the Piercing Media Network? Wasn’t he the real driving force behind it all? No, the reality of Jet Somers is that he is a self-serving prick who needs credit for everything, and I’ve had to sit back and smile and leave it be for over a year, but now I don’t have to do that anymore. Now the gloves can finally come off, and he can get what he deserves. Travis Pierce is back.
Reeves: We’ve gotten word that your successor, Director Cypress, has already set you in a match for next week, against Jet’s current partner, ‘The Drunken Buzzsaw’ Chaos.
Pierce: It’s funny, a man who calls himself Chaos, but he really was something of a constant for me last year, wasn’t he? One of my goals as Creative Director was to expand the UGWC brand, and the Drunken Buzzsaw did just that, pulling double-duty, going to OWF and taking it by storm, winning championship gold simultaneously in two different promotions, with two different partners, representing UGWC all the way. He was something of a gift. Hell, we built an entire match at Horizons and drew money based more or less on him alone. I was proud of what he did. There’s a catch to that, though. You know what it is?
Reeves: What?
Pierce: I did it better. You know what a buzzsaw is? It’s a tool, and that’s exactly what Chaos was for me. I built and expanded the UGWC brand. Me. I secured us representation in BattleMania, in the Total J Cup. I created the WrestleStock Open, brought in talents like Jesse Williams. I sent Chaos to OWF. He was a tool I used to achieve my goals, and next week on Synergy, I’m going to do the same thing. Travis Pierce the Creative Director has moved into the past. Travis Pierce the Entertainment Professional has returned, and Chaos is about to be the tool I use to demonstrate that, to him, to Jet, to everyone, because we’re going to remind the entire world just how much the truth...hurts.
Travis sneers and walks away.
