You are watching the OWF Network when the feed switches to a shot of the set of The Piercing Truth. Travis Pierce stands leaning on his former newsdesk, smirking at the camera.
Pierce: You know my name. You know who I am. The problem is that you don’t truly understand it. You’re a loyal fan of the Outsider Wrestling Federation. Maybe you dabble in Carnage Wrestling. Surely you checked out WrestleStock, given how heavily OWF was represented there, you had a representative win the Open last year, so you checked it out. You saw me in the finals. You’ve heard that I’m coming to Bloodbath to participate in the Pool of Blood Match. However, it is time for you to learn who I really am.
A screen behind Travis shows an image of “The Drunken Buzzsaw” Chaos.
Pierce: This is what you think of when you hear the letters U-G-W-C. I don’t blame you. It’s what you know. The problem is, this man isn’t a fair representation of what UGWC means. Chaos came to OWF last year and co-won the Pool of Blood. He won OWF Tag Team gold. He did his fair share of running through your roster. You might think we’re all like that. The problem with that is that while, yeah, Chaos is a violent and dangerous person, he works well in a team, he does damage with weapons, Chaos is a guy that hasn’t sniffed the World Heavyweight Title. That’s something that all of my fellow representatives from UGWC have in common in this Pool of Blood Match. Rogan. NBK. Vidas. Yeah, these are all talented people. They’d all be main eventing anywhere in the independents. They all can do what Chaos did last year, be a co-winner of your Pool of Blood special and take your gold. Heck, Rogan and Vidas already took the Total J Cup by storm this past month over in Japan in Warped, but you might be getting that news late. They’re good, all of them, but none of them are UGWC World Heavyweight Champion material.
The screen switches to an image of Travis with said title belt around his waist.
Pierce: I am. I’ve been the UGWC World Heavyweight Champion before, and it is something that in just a few short weeks time, I’m going to be again. Now, you’re asking yourself, why? Why is he bringing this up? After all, Pool of Blood is a violent environment. How can it not be? The word “blood” is right there in the title. Stamped it right on there. Message received. Top two people team together to challenge the Tag Team Champions, and then the third person gets to face the PDA Champion, do I understand that correctly? Third rate title for a third place finish? Sounds about right, but I digress.
The screen switches to the logo for UGWC: In Your Hands.
Pierce: As I said, I’ve been the World Heavyweight Champion, and I’m about to be again. In less than two weeks at UGWC: In Your Hands, it will be put to a fan vote to decide who challenges Travis Roberts for the World Heavyweight Championship. That’s where all of you come in. To quote one of my contemporaries, you’re the target demographic. Just because you spend your dollars on OWF doesn’t mean you can’t take a minute to pop onto the UGWC website if you haven’t already and cast your vote for Travis Pierce for In Your Hands. Now, I can already hear you, you’re asking why, why should I care about this, what is in it for me? Well, fortunately that’s an easy one: you owe me.
The screen switches to a shot of Jesse Williams.
Pierce: Last year I put my own career on hold for a year to take on the mantle of the Creative Director of the Consortium that runs UGWC behind the scenes. I sacrificed for the good of the industry, and the result was a boom that benefited everyone. I alone was responsible for the global domination and expansion of the UGWC brand, and the crown jewel of my term was the introduction of the WrestleStock Open Tournament. I created opportunity for people like Jesse Williams and Trent Steel to be seen on a grander stage. What did Jesse Williams do after he won the WrestleStock Cup last year? He went on to win the Cross-Hemisphere Title, one of the most historic championships in the industry. He came back to OWF and won the Network Title, reclaiming his past glory. He saw a career resurgence. About to challenge for the OWF World Heavyweight Championship again. You’re welcome.
The screen switches back to the In Your Hands logo.
Pierce: So log on and cast your vote today, and after I win the Pool of Blood at Bloodbath and defeat Travis Roberts at In Your Hands, sit back and enjoy as the Alpha Travis of UGWC spends the rest of this year running through your legends.
Travis smirks again as the image fades out and the OWF Network resumes normal programming.
Travis boards his flight to Tokyo and searches for his seat, accidentally bumping several passengers with his bag along the way.
Pierce: Now, where...ah, here we are…
Travis shoves his bag into the overhead compartment and slumps into his seat. He turns to the passenger seated next to him.
Pierce: Chadwick! Imagine meeting you here.
Chaos just stares at Travis, and he reaches up and presses his call button.
Pierce: I almost forgot you were headed out for this Pool of Blood business too. Of course, you won it last year, I guess it was just that great of an experience that you’re up for doing it again. I mean, I never really did thank you for doing that, you were a wonderful ambassador for UGWC. If you didn’t have your run in OWF, that whole Chaos on a Pole Match doesn’t happen at Horizons, and Jet doesn’t even get on the card. I guess he should be thanking you for it.
Chaos presses the call button several more times.
Pierce: When I win it this year, it will show everyone that I’m the proper face of UGWC, the Alpha Travis, and the votes will come pouring in for me for In Your Hands. I’ll fulfill my commitments to OWF, of course, but those fans will be eager to see the World Heavyweight Champion of UGWC tangle with their roster for a few months.
Chaos: And what makes you so damned sure you’ll be successful?
Travis nearly jumps out of his seat, caught off-guard by Chaos actually responding to him.
Pierce: Whoever my co-winner is, I’ve been a seven time Tag Team or Cooperative Champion in my career, with five different partners. I’ll be able to carry whoever it is to a title reign.
Chaos: I saw your little stunt you pulled on the OWF Network. These aren’t people to be trifled with.
Pierce: You beat them.
Chaos: I’ve beaten your stupid ass, too. You talk about Jesse Williams coming in and winning the Cross-Hemisphere Title last year. You remember who he defended that title against at Battleground?
Pierce: Hastings.
Chaos: The only four-time World Heavyweight Champion in UGWC history, and Jesse Williams beat him. OWF is for real, and when you piss them off they are going to kick your ass.
Pierce: But I’m not facing OWF in the Pool of Blood match, am I? I’m facing people from Carnage Wrestling or New Legends of Wrestling, or people from our own roster that I know I can beat. I’m supposed to worry about the Natural Born Killer when what he’ll be worried about is whether or not catering has cake for him? In fact, if anything, this is a chance to throw Vidas into a bucket of blood and embarrass him a week before the fans are going to vote me for a title match ahead of him.
Chaos pushes the call button again.
Chaos: Or he embarrasses you.
Pierce: Feh. He’ll have his hands full with Rogan.
Chaos: There are a few OWFers in the match.
Pierce: I know. Sebastion Steel and Zodiac. As far as I can tell, neither has accomplished much of anything.
Chaos: Kem Dynamo, too.
Pierce: And that’s just perfect, isn’t it? A chance for some piercing revenge.
Chaos rolls his eyes as the flight attendant finally approaches their seats.
Chaos: Whiskey. He’ll pay for it.
Pierce: Me?
Chaos: I know how to vote, too. Now sit quiet.
Pierce: Gotcha.
Travis bites his lip and nods to the flight attendant as he reaches in his pocket.
