14 August 2017 - Post Match
Dave Rydell bursts through the curtain in guerrilla, but stops when he steps on a rubber chicken and hears the squeak. He kicks it away and is met with Roxy Malone.
Roxy: Mr. Rydell, can I ask you a few questions?
Dave: Make it quick. I need to grab a shower and go meet someone.
Roxy: Well, first is how do you feel about picking up your first victory in months here? It was a big match that was changed at the last second.
Dave: Great feeling to get the win.
Roxy: Second - you just spent most of the match stomping around at ringside. You then went in and secured the win in quick fashion, and then issued a challenge to CJ Wylde, who hasn’t been seen in months either. What is going on with you?
Dave: Well, Roxy, what’s going on with me is a had a moment of clarity the other day and decided to live in the moment. I decided that when it was time to start making my own decisions. Let me ask you something, Roxy? Who the hell said I wanted to be involved with the Chaos title? Not me, and last time I checked, only I decide what the fuck I want.
Roxy: Dave, before you go you said you had to go meet someone. Last week you met up with Rogan MacLean behind closed doors about something. What was that about? Is that who you’re going to meet?
Dave: Thanks for your time, Roxy.
Dave scowls and walks off.

Dave Rydell is sitting at the bar of his establishment, over on the corner by the big potted cactus. He's staring into the abyss of his rum on the rocks, seemingly lost in his own thoughts.
"Well, it was nice to get that win. It's nice to finally be heard by the establishment. It's nice to have to start down the path I am deciding. CJ has apparently accepted my challenge without directly telling me, which tells me a few things about his character. He's hiding behind a manager. He's hiding from me. Where has he been for the last few months? Why did he take his hiatus? What is it that sparked his interest in my challenge? Is he a prideful man that won't back down?
I need answers to these questions. I want to know why he left. I want to know why he seemed like I am a decent enough opponent. I don't want approval, I just need to know his intentions. I need to know exactly wh--"
Bartender: Hey, boss. You alright?
Dave: Huh? Oh, yeah. Why?
Bartender: You've been staring at that glass for almost 5 minutes without blinking. I see you here but you're not here.
Dave: I'm good hun. What's your name? Haven't seen you around before.
Bartender: Michelle. Tyler hired me a couple months ago. You haven't been in, so you haven't seen me.
Dave: Ah, gotcha. Well welcome to the team! Can I grab one more and cash out?
Michelle: Sure thing.
As Michelle goes to get the other drink, she stops first and opens the deep freezer, trying to pick up the big ass frozen mackerel. And just like that, Dave gets lost back in his thoughts.
“I need to focus. My final goal is the UGWC World Title. I have been preaching it since day one. If I didn’t get picked to face Travis Roberts last year while sporting the mask of the Anarchist, I may have a fight to say I am owed a rematch from when I first arrived here. I lost the unification match to Hastings and never got my rematch that was in my contract. The technicality of me getting a shot under a mask would screw me out of that argument. It’s fine though. Focus.
A mentor reached out and told me it isn’t just me buying my way to a World Title match. I need to win everyone over. I need to win the respect and the shot. And that path starts now. The path that I choose, begins now. I have CJ Wylde at In Your Hands. I sincerely hope that I am not voted into the Chaos Title match because I truly do not care about that belt. But thinking of things that have been said…and I know me…I just say shit. I’ve got to think and then speak. I need to stop and survey it all.
In Your Hands can be the best night in a long time for me, or it could be the continuation of this bullshit I’ve been putting myself through.
IF I get voted into the Chaos Title match, I will compete. I will fight and do what I can to beat Travis Pierce. The only issue is, it isn’t my priority. My priority, my focus, my reason for being there is CJ Wylde. Travis Pierce is a hell of a competitor; a bit of a douche bag, but still a great competitor. He deserves an opponent who will give him the match he deserves as a Champion. If I’m selected, I will do my best to live up to that, but my focus will still be on CJ Wylde.
If I’m voted into it, though, it will hurt my chances to beat CJ. I will be battered and beaten. No matter how the order goes on Monday, it’s going to be painful. And then the Outlast Captain’s Match…I truly want no part of it but it is one of those matches that is just a hand pick and go match. Once I beat CJ, I need to leave and watch on the UGWC Network. I can see who the threats are from there.
Fuck. So many variables, but the focus still remains on CJ Wylde. A future World Champion and a sure fire hall of famer. I need to go and get my mind right. I need to -“
Michelle: Hey, you’re doing it again.
Dave: Huh?
Michelle: That thing where you zone out. Remember?
Dave: Oh…yeah…I’ve got a lot on my mind. Been a busy week and a half.
Michelle: Here’s your drink. You’ve got no bill.
Dave: Why? Jus because I own the place doesn’t mean I planned on drinking for free. Here.
Dave hands her 2 $100 bills.
Dave: Keep the change. I’m going to be out of your hair in just a minute.
Michelle: You’re fine. And I can’t accept this.
Dave: I insist. Seriously. You’re a great addition to the team, and thanks for the speedy service. Sorry about my zoning out.
Michelle: Seriously, boss…take it. I can’t acce- *turns her head* Sir, we are closed.
Dave looks over to see who walked in, and his faces turns from questioning to shocked.
Voice: It’s fine. I’m a friend.
Dave: What the hell are you doing here?
Ed Leonard sits next to Dave and sets his fedora on the bar. He looks at Michelle.
Ed: Johnny Walker Black, neat.
Dave is still stunned at Ed’s arrival. Ed turns his head towards Dave after Dave nods that Ed can get the drink. Michelle turns to pour it and sets it on the bar.
Ed: You’ve been busy.
Dave: I thought this wasn’t going to happen again.
Ed: Look, Dave. You and I have been through a lot. Between your brother resurfacing and all of that hoopla we went through since you came back in 2014 to beat Klaus for the Cross Hemisphere Title at Battleground. It’s been a wild ride. But now we need to see this through, to the very end.
Dave: If I wanted your help I would ha-
Ed: You would have called? No you wouldn’t. You didn’t before and you didn’t now. In Your Hands is coming up. You need to get your mind and body right.
Dave: Ed, why are you here?
Ed: I told you.
Dave: Why are you really here?
The two stare at each other in silence while Michelle continues to clean the bar, waiting for them to leave. While waiting she decides to do more in depth cleaning and pulls outs a few boxes from underneath the bar. Inside there is a tickle me Elmo kicking off. She pulls and out and tries to turn it off but can’t. She just throws it into the trash.
Fade out.

17 August 2017 - 1244 @ Dave’s basement gym
Dave is finishing his round of cardio on the treadmill. He hops off and takes a swig of water. When he turns around, Ed Leonard is sitting there on the steps.
Dave: Do you ever knock?
Ed: I’ve been known to just let myself into places.
Dave: What do you want now?
Ed: The same thing as the other night. To help you.
Dave: You never did tell me what the hell you wanted or why you’re actually here.
Ed: I’ll keep it simple, or complicated, whichever you decide to take it as. You want the UGWC World Heavyweight Title. I think everyone knows this. You are nowhere near ready to face Baal. He’s smarter than you are right now. Don’t take that as an insult. He is, though. He weaseled his way into the high profile matches and secured himself a victory at the Melee. He dethroned the champion at Wrestle Stock. That isn’t easy to do. You are not ready for that. You’re too emotional. It isn’t necessarily a bad thing but you need to channel it.
And right now, you need to channel that emotion, that anger, that rage, that desire to be the World Champion into your match with CJ Wylde on Monday.
Dave: What about the Chaos Title?
Ed: Fuck the Chaos Title. Fuck Travis Pierce. You’ve beaten him before and are a former Chaos Champion yourself. What do you need with it?
Dave: Nothing, but if I get voted in then…
Ed: So what? Go down there, beat the shit out of Travis Pierce and take the title with you when you go to beat CJ Wylde. It’s that simple.
Dave: It isn’t.
Ed: And here is the problem with all of it. You are so worried about all of the things that don’t matter. You are worried about fighting Travis Pierce because why? You have a match with CJ Wylde. Who cares about Travis Pierce? Nobody does except for the prostitute he bangs on camera to get title matches. Your ONLY focus right now needs to be CJ Wylde. Get your body and your mind right for him.
Dave: Did you find out what I asked you?
Ed: I did. And I think you calling him out has given him a chance to come back and put an end to those shenanigans. My only fear is he will be so enraged with all of that, that he will just take it out on you. And as you’ve said before, there is nothing scarier than a man with nothing to lose.
Dave: I need to do this. I need to get better.
Ed: And I’m here to help. I fly out for Vegas tomorrow. I have some business to attend to before Monday.
Dave: Well, we’ll see.
Ed: What are you planning to do Monday?
Dave: Beat CJ Wylde.
Ed: Anything else?
Dave: Hadn’t thought about it.
Ed: Well, from what I see you’ve got a few options. We’ve discussed it. I say you focus primarily on CJ Wylde. However, I just had a thought. If you go out there and get voted into the Chaos Title match, and win, then beat CJ Wylde, you’ll be off to an even better start. Beat Travis Pierce, take his title and get your full revenge on him. Then, go down and beat CJ Wylde. You’ll be a star. A top dog.
Dave: I suppose that’s not a bad idea.
Ed: Let’s not kid ourselves. You’ve been thinking about it the entire time. You just wanted to play the part of someone who seemed to not give a shit.
Dave: I guess there really is no fooling you.
Ed: Nope. Now, shall we start heading west?
Dave: Let’s do it.
Fade out.

18 August 2017 - Letter of Intent
It’s funny. I never thought I’d be in this position at this stage of my career. When I left the LWF to come over here, all I kept thinking was in the next 5 years I’m going to still be headlining events. I’m still going to be competing for the World Title. I’m going to be embroiled in a life long rivalry with Donovan Hastings. Or hell, maybe someone from my past will make their resurgence and we can have it out. I just never thought I’d be here.
I never thought I’d be scrounging for a solid challenge from someone who hasn’t wrestled in months just to get my own shit together. But here I am. The 2 time Co-Operative Champion. The 1 time Chaos Champion. The 4 time Cross Hemisphere Champion. The final LWF World Champion is now the lowest man on the ladder to the top.
How the hell did I end up in this position? Seriously? Is this how it happens? 14 years on the day in the wrestling business and I’ve only ever taken a break because I got hurt or was sick. I have dedicated myself to this. And what do I have to show for it? A sweet bank account and absolutely zero respect from the locker room.
That’s what I’ve got. Maybe this is exactly what Ed was talking about. Maybe this is what I need to do. I need to channel my hatred and my anger into everything I do to make it back to the World Title. I feel like I’ve said this before to myself.
Enough about that. I’m spinning my wheels yet again.
CJ Wylde, your silence has been maddening. I issued my challenge after my list of grievances on Monday. Following that you had your representative come out on twitter to say something? Are you a coward? No? Because that was a cowardly move. You haven’t even officially said anything to me about accepting the challenge. Are you worried? Are you scared? Do you not give a shit? What is it? Calling the front office to accept and get it put on the card is cool, but I would’ve respected you more if you said it to me like a man.
Your tactics are infuriating and somewhat appalling given your caliber of talent. I thought more highly of you and thought you were better than this petty crap of hiding.
I will be there at In Your Hands waiting for you in the ring. Are you going to continue to stay in hiding? Or are you going to come out and face me like a man. I really hope you show up. I really hope you break your silence beforehand. I want to know what you have to say. And I think your fans are owed some sort of an explanation.
Now, people have asked me why I made this challenge because I had no desire to compete at In Your Hands. I flip flopped, once again. They’re basically calling me an indecisive prick. Truthfully, I don’t care. I made this challenge because the only way people will ever reach their goals and to get better is to do what they’re trying to get better at. Now, for me, that’s wrestling. I want to be the World Champion. I need to set my own tasks, my own trial run, my own gauntlet so to speak. I picked CJ Wylde for the fact that, before he left, he was one of the best this company had acquired. He was competing for the World Title. And I know if I can beat him, then I can beat someone who was beaten by the World Champion at the time, and has since been beaten. I can boost myself higher.
I can keep making these challenges. I can keep pushing myself. Setting new limits and going further and further than I thought I could.
I said before that when I came here, I had a vision for where I saw myself. I had a dream. It turned into a farfetched fantasy after a while, but it’s time to make it a reality.
I have beaten some of the best. I have beaten KvK, Travis Roberts, hell I’ve even been on the winning side of a match involving Alan Wallace and Killian King. I have beaten Donovan Hastings before. I am going to get myself back to the tier, to that level of competition where I am not perceived as a joke. I will be respected and I will be feared.
After In Your Hands, who knows what will be in store for me. All I know is right now, CJ Wylde is the man I chose to fight. And dammit, I am going to fight tooth and nail with everything I have to get the victory. So, CJ, if you decide to speak, I look forward to it. If you show up on Monday, I will be ready. I just ask that you don’t disappoint.

Dave Rydell is walking through the halls of the T-Mobile arena with his gym bag slung over his shoulder. He is searching for the talents locker room. He walks up on 2 stage hands setting up an odd looking item.
Dave: What’s that?
Stage Hand 1: Oh, that’s Chaos and Xandy’s sex swing.
Dave: Why is that going up?
Stage Hand 2: That’s what I asked.
Stage Hand 1: The boss wants what the boss wants.
Dave: Whatever…where is the locker room?
Stage Hand 1: Down this hall, make the next right and then the second left.
Dave: Thanks.
Dave shakes his head and continues on the down the hall and makes the next right. He stops and grabs a few bottles of water from the cooler that is set up before continuing on. He makes the second left and finds the locker room. Once in and sees Ed Leonard waiting for him.
Dave: Fancy that, here you are.
Ed: Well, I’m not the only one.
Ed points to the other side of the room and Dave looks. His eyes widen. Fade out.
Dave Rydell bursts through the curtain in guerrilla, but stops when he steps on a rubber chicken and hears the squeak. He kicks it away and is met with Roxy Malone.

Fade out.
