December 5
Do I have anything left?
That is the decision that is left for me, the truth that I must uncover.
Dennis: Ladies and Gentlemen, your winners, AND STIIIIIIIIIIIL COOPERATIVE CHAMPIOOOOOONS............THE ROOOOOOOYAAAAAAAAAL FIIIIIIIIIRST BAAAAAAATAAAAAAAAAALIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIOOOOOOOOOON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Vinegar: Wow, by use of video replay, the R1B are able to keep a hold to their Cooperative titles, and ultimately their jobs!
Dennis: Ladies and gentlemen, your winners AND STIIIIIIIIIIL CO-OPERATIVE CHAMPIONS……….CHRIS AND CAL!!!!!!!!!!
Vinegar: It seems like the Horizons hoodoo continues another year as the challengers fail to claim the titles.
Dennis: Here is your winner, and STILL the Cross-Hemisphere Champion, ZANE SCCOOOTTTTTTT!!!!!
Vinegar: Zane Scott retains the Cross-Hemisphere Championship!
Dennis: Here is your winner, the Blessed One, TRRRAVVISSSS ROBBBERRRRTTTSSSSS!!!!!
Vinegar: It’s been five years since we’ve been able to say this, but Travis Roberts is victorious at Horizons!
Dennis: Here is your winner, and STILL the World Heavyweight Champion, REMI MONNNRRROOOEEEEE!!!!
Vinegar: Monroe did it! He retains the championship!
Lieberjosch: Killian King has climbed up over Jesse's back! He's unhooked the belt!!!
Vinegar: We got a new Cross-Hemisphere champion!
Lieberjosch: Eden Morgan has done it! She’s won! And what a brutal battle between these two!
December 9
I have made a career of others making moments at my expense at Horizons, a night that would seem to be my true greatest nemesis in my career. I have faced off against, and lost to, the likes of Zane Scott, Travis Roberts, Remi Monroe, Killian King, and Eden Morgan.
Now I face Dave Rydell.
Some would find that a despicable place to be, would find shame in such a slot. Perhaps I should. Yet in a few short days in Chicago, arguably the greatest Entertainment Professional in UGWC history competes in what may well be his final match. That Donovan Hastings has a storied and legendary career is beyond question, yet he once faced off at Horizons against Dave Rydell. There is no black mark here.
The true black mark is my continued failure at this event. The shame is in the way I burn brightest early in the day, and fade away into the night, year after year after year.
Rydell and I first faced off in 2003, when LWF purchased and absorbed the UWF, a rival promotion, and Rydell, then known as Red Fusion, joined LWF as the UWF Global Champion. We faced off at Meltdown, Fusion as the UWF Global Champion, myself as the LWF Cross-Hemsiphere Champion, in a Table Match. I was victorious and unified the championships, part of a record-setting run with the Cross-Hemisphere Title, setting a record that stood for eight years.
We are linked in many ways, Rydell and myself. I was there the night of the final LWF broadcast, when he shocked the world by winning the Elimination Chamber, dethroning Derick Felix and becoming the final LWF World Champion. It was with a smug satisfaction that I watched him fall to Hastings at No Holds Barred as two prestigious championship were unified to create the UGWC World Heavyweight Championship.
Now Rydell finds himself at yet another crossroads, as do I. His respect for me has been clear over the years, as he continues to find himself designated a captain for Outlast and continues to select me for his squad. I recognize his skill and abilities despite his frequent inability to get out of his own way, something that others often overlook or forget. He can be ruthless and relentless, unforgiving and brutal.
It seemed a few months ago that he was on the cusp of achievement, his effort against CJ Wylde being remarkably impressive, his performance at Outlast quite notable. He performs well as the underdog, yet once positioned to succeed, as he was at Battleground against the equally struggling Pierce, he falters.
Dave Rydell is in need of a moment, a Horizons moment. It would seem fortunate for him that he has come up against the person best suited to provide them.
The difference is that this year I need a moment too.
Do I have anything left?
That is the decision that is left for me, the truth that I must uncover.
