Name: William Everknight
Nickname: 'Fighting Spirit' (prefixed), Will, 'The Kid', Billy, Billy The Kid
Height: 5'11
Weight: 225
Age: 25, born on the 3rd of November 1983.
Alignment: Face
Hometown: Richmond, VA
Currently Residing In: Richmond
Associates: William's 'associates' include Alice Everknight (his wife) and their daughter Hope, his trainer and mentor (the elderly) Abraham Ark Walker and his best friend Benjamin Parker.
In 2003, William met Alice and they quickly fell in love. She followed him from show to show and cheered for him in every match. He'd blow her kisses and she'd scream his name. Alice loved getting the attention several girls were craving for from 'her man'. And in 2005 they became man and wife, not long before Alice became pregnant with their first and (so far) only child, Hope.
Benjamin Parker has also been a key player in William's life. They met in primary school and have been friends since. Benjamin studied film and media at school and he's been following Will, filming and documenting his rise to fame from his very first session in Ark's Academy. For a while, Ben published his videos online, then in 2004 he managed to secure a late night slot on a local TV station. The locals were captivated by the story of 'one of their own' going from zero to hero and the show received good ratings, despite it's bad slot. In recent years, William's story has garnered more exposure and interest. Thankfully, GIW has allowed Benjamin to keep shooting and the show to go on, believing the product might reach a wider audience than the average wrestling fan.
Gear: In everyday life, Will wears singlets and jeans; in the ring, he wears bright red trunks, knee pads and boots.
Entrance Music: Step Up – Drowning Pool
Entrance: 1, 2, 3 – Go!
Wearing his normal wrestling gear and a white singlet, William Everknight steps onto the ramp and walks straight to the ring, stopping for no one. There's no pyro, he doesn't need it. Will enters over the middle rope before climbing a corner and ripping off his sweaty singlet, then throwing it into the audience where it's caught by an adoring fan (normally a hot blonde!) Finally, Will pumps himself up before the match begins...
Fighting Style: A regular wrestler, considered to be a great all-rounder; William's a stiff striker capable of painful submissions and bone breaking power moves. He can move on the mat and will occasionally take to the air.
William believes in substance over style and only performs a move if he believes it will deal considerable damage to the recipient.
Will never cheats, he wants to work for his win, he wants to earn it or at least feel like he deserves it. And he rarely touches a foreign object unless the match calls for it. While quick pins like the school boy and the small package are an option, he prefers to work on an opponent and keep him down for the count. Then there's no mistaking his victory for a cheap fluke!
Regular Moves: Will's a stiff striker, capable of hard punches, kicks and elbows. He delivers a beautiful standing dropkick as well as several variations, including one from the top rope and one from the apron (to the floor). He also likes the short arm lariat as well as a regular running lariat. And when he really wants to deal some damage, Will lands a high risk elbow drop from the top rope.
William's power repertoire consists of backdrops, backbreakers, neckbreakers, powerbombs and brainbusters. When countering a charging opponent, Will opts for the tilt-a-whirl backbreaker, the powerslam or the spinebuster.
'Fighting Spirit's holds, stretches and submissions include the abdominal stretch, chinlock, front facelock, dragon sleeper and corner foot choke.
A downed opponent will be receiving the traditional stomp, elbow drop and leg drop (often across the throat).
These are only a few of William's favourite moves; The Kid is a diverse and knowledgeable grappler capable of much more than I've mentioned.
Signature Moves: Will's signature submission is the dreaded sleeper! He wraps his right arm around an opponent's neck and his left arm around their forehead before choking the victim to death. While an opponent may try to struggle free, Will refuses to relinquish the hold. Many men have been silenced by the sleeper.
Will also likes the sleeper suplex (Kenta Kobashi) and the tiger driver (Mitsuharu Misawa).
And if all else fails, Will performs a jaw dropping suicide dive over the top rope or if need be, over the turnbuckle itself!
Taunts: N/A
Primary Finisher: Everknight Alpha is a regular exploder which can also be hit from the top rope. If Everknight Alpha fails to defeat an opponent, William busts out a wrist-clutch variation called Everknight Beta.
The exploder is a quick move to execute and it can easily take an opponent by surprise.
Secondary Finisher: In a big match scenario or if Everknight Alpha and Beta fail to 'seal the deal', William will deliver the ever rare Everknight Gamma – an inverted wrist-clutch exploder that's never failed to end a match.
William will always offer to shake his opponent's hand after a match, no matter who or what. It's the right thing to do so he does it.
Personality: William is known for his big heart. He loves his family and he's passionate about pro wrestling. Whatever he does, he gives it 100% and he has a 'never say die' attitude.
Will is strong, courageous and determined, however some people might call him foolhardy. He never knows when enough is enough and he doesn't back down, even when he should. The Kid's strong will has damaged him before, and it could happen again. William's more likely to suffer an injury than lose a match but it's a risk he's willing to take and the price he's willing to pay for victory.
As I mentioned before, Will loves his family and he'd do anything for them. His wife and daughter are a driving force in his life, he lives for their happiness and if they're not happy, he's not happy. He's often described as every mother's dream and every woman's fantasy. It's hard to fault the man, but he's not perfect. William can be stubborn and selfish, and while his wife supports his wrestling career, she's worried that his inability to admit defeat will one day lead to him coming home in a box.
In general, Will is a happy man. He enjoys life and looks forward to each and everyday.
Biography: Born in suburban America, William had a happy childhood. He had a close family and a lot of friends (including one Benjamin Parker.) He worked hard at school and even harder at his weekend job. In his free time he'd watch wrestling. He studied every match move by move till finally, when he reached the age of 16, he found a wrestling school and a trainer by the name of Abraham Ark Walker.
Ark (as he was known) had been around for a long time but was never a well known wrestler. He was however, an expert in the craft of professional wrestling and he taught William everything he knew. Ark and William had a solid relationship. Ark could see a lot of potential in his student and William respected his mentor. Ark made it his mission to give William the knowledge and training he needed to become the star he never was.
In 2003, at the age of 20, William Everknight became an independent wrestler and quickly earned the respect of his peers and fans. He also received the nickname 'Fighting Spirit' for his undeniable determination and willingness to win. William never backs down and never gives up. To this day he's never tapped out, and he's adamant that he never will.
An 87 match losing streak marked the beginning of Will's pro wrestling career. And even though he lost every match, people flocked to see him because they knew each loss brought him closer to victory and it was only a matter of time before he achieved his first win. The crowd love an underdog and William was a big dog. He was a loser but he had the potential to be a winner. After his losing streak came to an end and he had received his first taste of victory, William vowed to never lose again and since that day, he's fought harder than he ever did before.
In 2005, William Everknight became a national champion, defeating his much bigger and more experienced opponent while working through a broken neck. He entered the match as a giant underdog but quickly aimed to prove the audience wrong, who had gone expecting a squash match. In fact, the crowd that night witnessed a long, barbaric match that Will has never completely recovered from. Anyone who does their research will know that Will's neck is his weak spot; however, as that story demonstrates, attacking his weaknesses will not guarantee victory at all.
Now that he's been signed by Global Impact Wrestling, Will's gone from the top of the card to the bottom and he's been given a new nickname 'The Kid'. William is once again the underdog people remember from 2003. It won't be long though, before he's showing the GIW locker room why people call him 'Fighting Spirit', however, he's well aware of the challenge he faces and the mountain he has to climb. He knows that GIW is home to the world's finest talent and toughest competition but he also knows, that's why he's there.
Will dreams of becoming a world champion, especially the Global Impact Wrestling Unified Champion. This is his chance and he's going to take it.
