Somewhere In The "Wilderness" of Chicago
Footsteps crunch down the rock strewn alleyway. The rain, which seems perpetual, continues to patter down, although at a lighter rate than the previous couple of days. A lone figure walks through the haze of the beginning of night. The figure is tall and slim. And definitely female. She is dressed in what appears to be all brown, aside from the black converse on her feet. She wraps her arms around herself and pauses, looking around for something. Doorways to shops face the alley, thick steel and likely barred from within. Trash dumpers line the opposite side of the alleyway. As she thinks of the last time she thought such a vessel could provide shelter, she shivers. Perhaps the shiver is enhanced by the sheer volume of water in her clothes. Her brown hair hangs in dripping strings from around her face. Her brown eyes are dulled with exhaustion and perhaps other things. She turns her head and sneezes. This she follows with a sniffle. She stiffens and turns, as if expecting to see something, or several somethings, behind her. Nothing materializes and she relaxes.
Sylvsetra(?): "Maybe I should have taken his offer."
She sniffles again, wiping on her sleeve. She looks behind her one more time, the sound of traffic passing echoing down the alleyway.
Sylvestra(?): "Come on. You have to keep moving. Even if you don't know where you're going."
She continues along the alleyway, arms wrapped around herself against the bitter cold the wetness of her clothes is setting in. She pauses and sniffs the air. Something smells good. She rounds a bend in the Alleyway and spies a commercial size smoker, happily belching flavorful smoke into the air. She moves quietly through the slowly extending shadows, settling in behind the smoker. Luckily behind it is a cement wall. She eases herself down until she is seated on the wet ground, paying that no mind given the rest of her soaked person. She then lowers her head and lets out a breath, closing her eyes and enjoying the amazing feeling of warmth.
