The redhead stands before her five companions, arms crossed across her chest. The crew of them are dressed in various shades of grey and blue. One woman and four men face her. One of the men shakes his head. They stand in a room with six beds in a circular pattern. Two doors lead into and/or out of the room. One is open, showing a toilet and shower visible from the room. The other door is closed.
Man: "No, Lycoris. I don't believe you are at fault. If we failed, we failed together."
The other four mutter agreement. Lycoris closes her bright blue eyes and lowers her head, shaking it.
Lycoris: "I was put in charge of the mission, Clover. You know that as well as I do. Responsibility falls on my shoulders."
The man, apparently named Clover, his hair mottled with dark green spots among the sun gold, takes a step toward Lycoris, who gives him a defiant look, despite the nearly foot difference in their height.
Clover: "Had we succeeded, you would have shared the spoils of victory with us. We should share in..."
Unnoticed by the sextet, another person had entered the room. Standing there is a tall, gray wisp of a woman. As she steps into the center of the room, her form flickers in a most unnatural way. Like a film with a slight skip.
Woman: "Lycoris. I have read your report and passed it along to our Leader. You are to come with me. The rest of you will remain within this suite. Lycoris. Come."
The other five are frozen, almost as if in fear. Lycoris closes her feet together, extends her fore and second finger on her right hand and places their tips over her heart, bowing her head.
Lycoris: "As you command, M'Lady."
The Phantasmal figure walks through the closed door. Lycoris opens the door and steps through. In the hallway, the figure waits for her, flanked by two large, hooded, very live and present, figures. One holds a wicked looking whip. The other a long and nasty looking sword. Lycoris, to her credit, pauses only a moment as it dawns on her what lays in her future. She turns, giving the salute again to the quintet, which had turned slowly to watch her leave.
Lycoris: "It has been an honor knowing you."
She nods to the figure, which motions to the two men, who lead Lycoris out of sight. The figure then turns and eyes the quintet before her.
Woman: "Snapdragon. You are now the leader of this mission. The Leader wants that girl FOUND and brought back ALIVE. Clear?"
The other woman, a blonde with a pattern of what looks like thorns of light green colored into her hear, delivers the same salute as Lycoris had used.
Snapdragon: "Service is a pleasure and an honor, M'Lady."
From somewhere, the sound of a great whip cracking is followed by a loud scream.
Woman: "Success is your only concern. If you fail, we will have to begin to recruit new members. Having two openings is not...opitmal."
Snapdragon gulps. The figure fades away without a sound. The only sound is the sound of the great whip and the cries of pain. This goes on for five minutes. The quintet, at first crying and pacing about, slowly numbs to the sound, settling on five of the beds. One last crack of the whip is followed by the sound of a sword swooshing and the screams of pain suddenly end.
