As we enter into the next era of UGWC, we are excited to announce a number of changes and new features for the upcoming year.
The Keys to the Kingdom
The winners of the Global Challenge, Outlast Tournament, Battleground Match, and Massive Melee will each receive a "key" for winning the event in addition to whatever other prize is at stake. A new event will be added to the schedule, Keeper of the Keys, in which the keyholders will be entered into a match (format to be determined) and the winner of that match earns the right to the match of their choice at Horizons (so this PPV will be the final PPV before Horizons).
- Holding multiple keys (via having won multiple events) means that you have fewer opponents to overcome in the final match
- The keys themselves may potentially be defended, however this is specifically at the discretion of the Consortium. A keyholder may not opt to voluntarily put their key on the line.
The Conquest Championship
Within the first couple months of the new year, a new championship will be introduced. This title will be defended EVERY WEEK on Synergy (and NEVER on PPVs). If you successfully defend the title five times, you will vacate the title the following week and receive an immediate World Title match on Synergy, meanwhile a new champion will be determined separately and the process begins anew.
- If the reigning champion needs a week off and provides notice, we will accommodate, but the defense the following week will likely be more difficult with an extra challenger or something.
- When you lose as a challenger, you go to the back of the line, but given it is being defended weekly you should be able to work your way back relatively quickly.
- Once a World Title match has been earned, it cannot be banked. The championship match will occur on the next episode of Synergy, unless either champion or challenger have previous requested that week off.
The Ranking System
THE PURSE IS NO MORE!!!
We are doing away with the purse system entirely as it has outlived its usefulness, and the rare instances in which it is used (booking a card, for example) can be achieved in other storyline ways. Instead, title shots on Synergy, which we intend to be more frequent, will be determined by a divisional ranking system.
It is critical to note that this ONLY applies to title matches that take place on Synergy. PPV title matches remain at the discretion of the Consortium and will be feud/storyline based or earning in matches, as we normally do.
The way this works is difficult to explain succinctly, but I will try:
Every match that takes place on Synergy now matters and is working you towards earning a title shot of some kind. CH division matches will have a word limit (likely lower than normal, with higher word limits for title matches). Chaos division matches will have a low-key stip. Participation in ANY match moves you closer to a shot at the Conquest Title (and therefore the World title) but non-division matches carry more weight. Winning a match in a division moves you up the rankings, losing matches holds you steady, not participating in the division at all moves you down (though obviously the actions of other people may affect your standing). You CAN participate in multiple divisions and your position will be tracked in each of them.
The CH, Chaos, and Coop champions will have regularly scheduled defenses on Synergy, and in those matches will defend against whoever is ranked #1 at that time. The World Champion will not defend on Synergy unless it is the holder of the Conquest Title cashing in after five defenses. Each week the Top 5 of the CH, Chaos, and Coop divisions will be posted, along with five people "in contention" to receive the next shot at the weekly title.
Conquest Title matches will be judged solely by the mod team, but other title matches will continue to be determined by roster vote, regardless of whether they are on Synergy or a PPV.
We are NOT throwing out the purse entirely, it will impact the transition. Everyone will be given the choice of which division they intend to initially focus their efforts (CH, Chaos, or the Conquest Title) and will receive advance standing in that division based upon the purse. This may lead to the system taking a bit before it functions normally, as it may take a bit for anybody starting fresh in a division to catch up to people who got a head start from their purse. You will receive a message in the near future asking how you would like to distribute your purse boost, and there will be a maximum that can be put in any one division.
If any character returns to UGWC in the future who had purse, they will be entitled to a one time boost in the division of their choice.
The Schedule
This year you will see new Pay-Per-View events, twists placed on past events, and a reshuffling of past traditions. The full year calendar will be announced shortly.
The Global Challenge
The Global Challenge is moving to a Round Robin format that will unfold over an entire month. Ten entrants (first come, first serve) will be split into two blocks, with round robin matches occurring on Synergy. At Infinity, each person will face off against the person in the same position in the other block. While #1 vs #1 will be for the GC Key, all five matches will have a prize of some kind.
- The singles champions CAN participate in this. If they do, their Infinity match will be for their title regardless of where they are positioned. #1 vs #1 will also likely be for a future World Title Match, unless there is a champion defending their title in the match.
- During the Round Robin round, you receive 2 points for a win, 1 point for a time limit draw.
- Ties going into Infinity will be broken by head to head performance.
- The entire Round Robin schedule will be announced ahead of time. No-showing a match is an automatic loss and two points for the opponent.
Monthly Routines
After each PPV, the roster will be sent a planning message for the next cycle. Every character MUST take one week off from being booked in a match, and if you have a preference you can do so at that time. If you need an additional week off or need to adjust mid-cycle, that is okay. Segments can be submitted during a skip week, and you can put up a different character for a match that week.
- The required week off does not apply to the holder of the weekly defended title
- You can run multiple characters the same week, and would schedule as such
- If it is a "short" cycle with less than three Synergies, the week off is not required
The planning message will ask which week you want off, which division(s) you prefer to focus on that month, and your preferred cooperative partner (though storylines/feuds/PPV build may lead to a different partner for a particular week).
Segment Submission
Thank you to everyone for submitting content to the staff account. Please continue to do so. In addition, this year we are requesting that if you intend to submit a segment, that you at a minimum notify us of the intended content of that segment by Sunday night. This will allow us to ensure the continuity of Synergy, as well as resolve any conflicts that may arise or ask you to make changes if needed.
Also, while Twitter is certainly an effective tool for providing depth or bonus content, please do not assume that we have seen it. We do not consider tweets to specifically be canon and if something conflicts with plans in place or events on UGWC broadcasts we will disregard it.
