Roleplaying
1. Limits
We have a One Official Roleplay Per Week limit here in UGWC, to be posted in the Official Promo Board. If you have more than one character and more than one match you can, if you wish, post separate pieces of work.
However if you wish to flesh out your character more, develop their motivations or a storyline you may post unofficial promo’s in the Unofficial Promo Board. Please reserve replying to posted roleplays for OOC feedback only.
2. Deadlines
Roleplay deadline is at Midnight(EST) on Saturdays.
Reasonable corrections for formatting, spelling, etc. can be added after the deadline, but keep in mind that the forum records timestamps when edits take place, and edits more than ten minutes after the deadline will naturally result in some raised eyebrows.
Pay-Per-View Roleplay deadline is typically on Saturday, just as with Synergy, however this is with the expectation and understanding that there is a hard deadline for voting as well (24 hours after RP Deadline passes) so that results can be processed and written in a timely fashion. Management reserves the right to move the deadline back if circumstances require it to be so. A countdown clock is present on the left side on the board to serve as a visual reminder.
3. Feedback
Everyone, roleplayers and match writers alike, loves getting feedback, and we all wish we had more time to provide it. While it's not a requirement to give feedback, we do encourage and appreciate it on both roleplays and shows. Please be constructive when giving it, and open-minded when receiving it. No-one enjoys being humiliated. If you really want to help someone improve their grammar and spelling, send them a polite PM, don't humiliate them in front of their peers. Also, it's considered good etiquette to give some feedback if you're specifically requesting some.
Also feedback threads should be about the piece, it's not an appropriate place to try to make yourself look good or develop storylines/feuds. This should be done on the Unofficial Board.
4. No Showing
We all have lives, we all have other priorities, so it's going to happen, that one day, you might need to no-show, it happens, no big deal. We just ask that you let anyone involved in your match know as soon as you can, and that you understand that you will lose said match.
Out of respect for your fellow players, if you cannot post, but can get to the internet, a quick note is always appreciated by staff and opponents. The same goes if you volunteer to write a match: if you can, let whoever is handling the show know as soon as possible. In return, we try to be as understanding as possible when the inevitable slip up happens, and ask that you pay us the same respect.
If you no-show and do not contact anyone we will assume you have lost internet connection and will not book you on the next show. The longer we don't hear from you the further you will slip from our plans, but you will always be welcomed back, no matter the length of the absence.
5. Be Original
UGWC doesn’t allow real life characters, so you’re going to have to create something from the dark depths of your mind. This in itself gives you a remarkable amount of freedom, you are not restrained by the usual stereotypes that restrict real world federations. This is a fantasy world, anything goes, we’ve had muppets, interdimensional travelers, superheroes, monarchs, sentient(?) sandwiches, etc.. There are no restrictions on what your character can or can’t be, apart from your own imagination. The biggest challenge, no matter the character, is getting your audience attached to them. That includes your opponents.
6. Other Peoples' Characters
We do not outright ban the use of other people’s characters here in UGWC, however we expect a level of common sense to be exercised in such situations. General rule of thumb would be that if you plan anything more than a fairly innocent cameo it would be best to try and contact the handler and let them know what idea you have. We all spend a lot of time creating our characters, just bear that in mind whenever you attempt to use someone else’s.
7. Minor Restrictions
We don't really restrict what you can or can't write about, we just adhere to the Proboards terms and conditions, which I'm sure you can all read if you look hard enough. If anything is amiss we'll let you know.
8. Cooperative Championships
Pretty simple really, as long as you have two active characters with profiles posted, you may challenge for the Cooperative Titles on your own. Obviously this means you may well end up competing against two human characters, decreasing your chances of success.
Results
1. Week to Week, we decide.
For weekly Synergy non-title matches the decisions and results of matches will be the responsibility of the available Moderator Staff. Synergy's are generally geared towards building for a Pay-Per-View so there may be times results are not as expected, but this is purely for the basis of entertainment.
2. Big matches, you decide.
At Pay-Per-Views, and other significant matches (title matches etc), we open a vote up to the roster. A ballot is sent out when the deadline passes on the week of the PPV and you have 24 Hours to reply with your votes. Further instructions may follow in any ballot, please read carefully as some matches have special voting stipulation.
3. Contributions are always welcome.
We love ideas, they can often help us when writing our matches, so please don't hesitate to send anything our way. We can't always promise to follow every angle we are given but we will do our best to fit anything we can into a show. If you wish to write a segment we welcome that too. If you wish to submit a segment or show idea, we require at least the concept of the idea to be submitted by midnight(EST) Sunday, to the Staff account on the board, so that we can plan for it and include it in the continuity of the show.
4. We take a break.
Pay-Per-View Cycles vary, sometimes we have three shows before a PPV, other times it can be five shows, however what does remain consistent is the fact we take a week off after every Pay-Per-View, we have found this helps the match writers and role players from suffering burnout over the course of the year. There is typically an additional week break around mid-year following the WrestleStock event, and an approximately month long break in late December/early January. Lastly, in order to accommodate the various schedules our members have without their time off hurting their standing, we ask that every character take at least one synergy off each cycle. We’ll contact you during the post PPV week to allow you to select the week that works best for you.
5. Show formats
We always do what we can to ensure the quality of our shows matches that of the output from the roster. However, match writers are a rare breed in this game, and it can put considerable strain on the lives of the match writing team. This means we have to be creative with how we present our weekly synergy shows, but we guarantee that every Pay-Per-View is a great spectacle.
6. Volunteers.
..
...are always welcome.
