Company Guidelines
This set of guidelines mostly pertains to In Character storytelling and development. We've also included some 'behind the curtain' type explanations of how we conduct the game in UGWC.
Roleplay Stipulations
In UGWC, we've innovated the roleplay competition by adding writing conditions or prompts to certain matches. These are most usually attached to matches which have a gimmick (but not always) in order to represent the increased difficulty of competing in those matches. These stipulations may add a theme, suggest a specific writing format, or recommend the inclusion of certain objects, scenes, or people to your roleplay for that week. While certain gimmick matches tend to have repeated stipulations, currently only the Hell in a Cell gimmick has a written-in-stone stipulation (roleplay as your opponent). We encourage creativity in your execution of the writing stipulation, and they're not required per se, but keep in mind that you're judged by your audience, and you can be reasonably sure that execution of the stipulation will be considered while scoring your work. Roleplay stipulations will be included on the card under the match it pertains to.
Championship-Specific Stipulations
All non-World Championship title matches will have their own rules or roleplay stipulations attached. The current stipulations for those matches are:
Cross-Hemisphere - To represent the concept of skill and legacy represented by this championship (as opposed to the spectacle of the World Championship or mayhem of the Chaos Championship), title matches will include a 2000 word limit.
Cooperative - Both members of the cooperative team will post one roleplay for the title match.
Chaos - All Chaos Rules matches, title or not, will have a roleplay stipulation which changes from one match to another.
Conquest - While the Conquest Championship matches will not always have a specific roleplay stipulation, it is a title with specific rules and rewards for defending:
1. This title will be defended EVERY WEEK on Synergy (and NEVER on PPVs). If you successfully defend the title five times, you will vacate the title the following week and receive an immediate World Title match on Synergy, meanwhile a new champion will be determined separately and the process begins anew.
2. If the reigning champion needs a week off and provides notice, we will accommodate, but the defense the following week will likely be more difficult with an extra challenger or something.
3. When you lose as a challenger, you go to the back of the line, but given it is being defended weekly you should be able to work your way back relatively quickly.
4. Once a World Title match has been earned, it cannot be banked. The championship match will occur on the next episode of Synergy, unless either champion or challenger have previous requested that week off.
Voting
All Pay Per View matches--and most Championship matches--will be decided by popular vote by members of the forum. Ballots will be sent out when the roleplay deadline ends. Roleplays are rated on a scale of 1-10, with 10 being the best. How you rate roleplays is entirely at your own discretion. Votes for your own matches will not be counted. Ballots will have a deadline of 24 hours after the roleplay deadline. Voting is entirely voluntary.
Synergy Rankings
Title shots on Synergy will be determined by a divisional ranking system.
1. It is critical to note that this ONLY applies to title matches that take place on Synergy. PPV title matches remain at the discretion of the Consortium and will be feud/storyline based or earning in matches, as we normally do.
2. Every match that takes place on Synergy matters and is working you towards earning a title shot of some kind. CH division matches will have a word limit (likely lower than normal, with higher word limits for title matches). Chaos division matches will have a low-key stip.
3. Participation in ANY match moves you closer to a shot at the Conquest Title (and therefore the World title) but non-division matches carry more weight. Winning a match in a division moves you up the rankings, losing matches holds you steady, not participating in the division at all moves you down (though obviously the actions of other people may affect your standing). You CAN participate in multiple divisions and your position will be tracked in each of them.
4. The CH, Chaos, and Co-Op champions will have regularly scheduled defenses on Synergy, and in those matches will defend against whoever is ranked #1 at that time. The World Champion will not defend on Synergy unless it is the holder of the Conquest Title cashing in after five defenses.
5. Each week the Top 5 of the CH, Chaos, and Coop divisions will be posted, along with five people "in contention" to receive the next shot at the weekly title.
6. Conquest Title matches will be judged solely by the mod team, but other title matches will continue to be determined by roster vote, regardless of whether they are on Synergy or a PPV.
*This ranking system replaced the Purse system at the beginning of 2021. Since roster members who were active at that time received a one time divisional boost according to the size of their purse at the conclusion of 2020, inactive members who left a purse behind will likewise receive a one time boost should they choose to return.*
Tournaments
Each year, UGWC plays host to several PPV Tournaments. Each one has a unique flavor, with ever-evolving rules and formats. Most of our tournaments are open to any participant, whether a full time roster member or a guest from a partner company or independent contractor. We often rotate events in and out from one year to the next, but our flagship tournaments which happen each year are The Global Challenge, Massive Melee, Outlast, and Battleground.
Keys to the Kingdom
1. The winners of the Global Challenge, Outlast Tournament, Battleground Match, and Massive Melee will each receive a "key" for winning the event in addition to whatever other prize is at stake.
2. The Keeper of the Keys PPV event will take place the cycle before Horizons, and will see the keyholders entered into a match (format subject to change) and the winner of that match earns the right to the match of their choice at Horizons.
3. Holding multiple keys (via having won multiple events) means that you have fewer opponents to overcome in the final match
4.The keys themselves may potentially be defended, however this is specifically at the discretion of the Consortium. A keyholder may not opt to voluntarily put their key on the line.
Other Tournaments
These contests will be held from time to time, but do not carry Kingdom Key benefits.
-Wrestlestock Cup
-Cross-Hemisphere Invitational
-Lord of Trios
-Tug O War
Social Media
UGWC encourages the use of social media platforms such as Twitter and Discord to promote your character and interact with other players both in and out of character. That being said, please do not assume that we have all seen it. We do not consider tweets to specifically be canon, or conversations in Discord to have been discussed with the entire mod team. If something conflicts with plans in place or events on UGWC broadcasts, we will disregard social media
Developing your Character(s)
After each PPV, the roster will be sent a planning message for the next cycle. The planning message will ask which week you want off, which division(s) you prefer to focus on that month, and your preferred cooperative partner (though storylines/feuds/PPV build may lead to a different partner for a particular week).
Required Week Off
1. Every character MUST take one week off from being booked in a match, and if you have a preference you can request it when responding to the planning message.
2. If you need an additional week off or need to adjust mid-cycle, that is okay.
3. Segments can be submitted during a skip week.
4. You can put up a different character for a match that week.
5. The required week off does not apply to the holder of the weekly defended title
6. You can run multiple characters the same week, and would schedule as such, but we cannot always guarantee both will always be booked.
7. If it is a "short" cycle with less than three Synergies, the week off is not required
8. The purpose of this is to level the playing field for all members who have varying amounts of time to put into the hobby.
9. If you don't have a requested week off, your scheduled off week will be at the discretion of the staff.
Character development can also be supplemented with segments and unofficial roleplays, but please keep in mind the segment request deadline as well as using the Unofficial Board for posting non-match, in-character posts.
