NoveMber 8th.
ThAt was the last time the fans of the UGWC got to experience the force of nature that is… was… is… The Strong Style Satanist. “Deathwish” Hide Yamazaki.
November 9th.
That was the last time Hide was inside his and Canada’s Greatest Manager Johnny Hitmaker’s humble apartment abode in Chicago, Illinois. He made off into the night, packing lightly, and on the lookout for his wife and son.
He found himself stuCk in this situation after losing one too many matches in The Coalition; the elderly Japanese gentlemen who were withholding information from him in regards to the whereabouts of Mitsuko and Kenichi no longer had a use for him. Only winners get help, and let’s face it: 2021 has been utterly brutal for the former World Heavyweight Champion.
November 12th.
That was the first time Johnny came across Hide, if only Briefly; moments later, he witnessed his client/friend getting arrested for seemingly no reason.
He did Also swear the woman and young dude Hide was racing towards looked awfully familiar. A few years older, sure, but… he’s pretty sure they were Hide’s family! But… if that was so… who were those guys that spirited them away?
November 13th.
That was the day JohNny went to bail Hide out of the local cop shop, only to discover someone else had bailed him out already!
But who could have bailed him out? Johnny had been wracking his brains trying to figure out a list of culprits:
1. ThE Astro Creeps: Yes, the ever-spreading influence of the Creeps - 56-strong now? - could have figured, hey, why not slip in while Johnny slept and bail Hide out, try to coerce or otherwise convince him, without the presence of his manager to “taint reality”? And while Hide isn’t as weak-willed as many may think, the Creeps are no ordinary force in The Coalition. Many have fallen victim to their mind games, their cerebral invasions. In his current state, Hide could have allowed himself to believe whatever Tempest and Co could tell him. They know where his family is? They can help him? That could have been all it took.
2. Those old Asian guys: They were present when Hide was arrested. This may seem like a longshot, since it didn’t seem like they did much of anything to prevent it, but who knows? Who can say? It’s possible these are the men Hide had referred to in his letter. Maybe this was part of their plan all along! Maybe they have absolutely nothing to do with anything! But considering what little Johnny has to go with, anyone out of the ordinary is a suspect. Of course, if it was indeed them, there would be absolutely no way Johnny could ever track down people he saw briefly once ever. Thankfully this is, again, a longshot.
3. Hide’s family: This could be the most obvious choice, if they were in fact who Johnny thinks they were. It sure looked like it. They did look worried as Hide closed in on them, but maybe they were just confused? Overwhelmed with emotions? Maybe they knew those old guys were about to show up and cause trouble? If anyone would want to bail Hide out, surely his family would be first on that short list of folks, even in front of Johnny himself!
4. Any number of rich opportunistic assholes: Tony Savage, Eden Morgan, Gabriel Baal, Donovan Hastings, hell, maybe even Travis *finger down throat action* Pierce, hellbent on being a knobby little pisher. Hide could have been convinced that he now owed them, and his sense of duty and honour might have transcended personal feelings. And since Eden and Gabriel have been downgraded to shitty from utterly despicable, since his family is indeed alive, he wouldn’t have just tried to wholesale murder them the second he was released.

December 2nd.
It has now been 20 days since Johnny last saw Hide. He had to put his search on hold in order to cover Hide’s match against Centurion on the 15th, an unfortunate showing on the retired agent’s part against the defending Conquest Champion. Working around the clock, stopping only to eat, sleep, and promote his other clients, everything seemed fruitless as the days started blending together. Perhaps if Johnny had been nicer to everyone, he’d have scores of people jumping at the chance to help him, but that’s simply not the case. Everyone has their own lives to tend to, their own trials and tribulations, and on top of all that, it didn’t help that Hide had a habit of running away a few times in the past. Not for almost three weeks, however.
Maybe… maybe Hide had indeed reunited with his family, who bailed him out, and they were all three in hiding from the police? Those old guys? Johnny?! A part of Johnny, that insecure side he desperately tries to keep tucked away for not even the most meticulous of eyes to observe, wonders if everyone was right: he caused Hide to distrust him so much that he’s scared of coming back to him. After all, Hide did keep his dealings a secret from him; why else would he have, had he not worried Johnny might sabotage everything? Was this Hide’s ultimate out, contracts and obligations be damned? To Hide, finding out his family were not only alive, but living in Chicago of all places, was the ultimate in kismet.
Not once did anyone wonder why, why out of anywhere on Earth, would they somehow find their way exactly where Hide now lived? Hiding in plain sight? Promises made? Trickery afoot? Whatever the case, many pieces of the puzzle were fit in place, but many more needed to be figured out, or outright found.
And this is where we stand today. Sadly, no new information, no new leads, no new clues, no new anything. Depressing. Frustrating. And as Horizons is… well… on the horizon - 11 days away, in fact, it looks like it’s promising to be a very Unmerry Christmas for Hitmaker-Yamazaki Enterprises.
It would take nothing less than a Christmas miracle for everyone to get their happy endings, as the UGWC comes closer and closer to ending another year of violence and drama.
