Konrad Raab has set his sights on the Conquest Championship in the hopes of securing himself a World Championship match. Unfortunately for him, he has to earn that opportunity by defeating rival Phrixus Deimos, who has taken particular pleasure in being an extremely painful thorn in Raab’s side. This shows early on as Raab is a bit tentative right off. He makes early attempts to tie Deimos up, but the savvy UGWC legend manages to avoid or work his way out of them. It appears to instill early self-doubt in Raab. Of course, Deimos knows how to get into Raab’s head and proceeds to do so, giving himself the advantage. He uses this to weaken Raab’s legs with knee bars, doubt single and double-leg crabs, knee and shin breakers, dropkicks to Raab’s knees and even throws in a couple of suplexes for good measure, as if to remind Raab “I can do those too”.
He looks like he’s in a perfect position to press his advantage. He doesn’t. Instead he backs off and lets Raab come to him, which Raab does somewhat hesitantly, clearly a bit confused by the actions of “The Embodiment of Fear”. He locks up with Fear and arm drags him, but Fear immediately pops back to his feet. Raab follows it up with another arm drag, which has the same result. Raab shakes his head as Fear stands and looks at him, inscrutable as always. The two eventually lock up again and this time Raab changes tactics, and proceeds to take Fear to the ground and keep him there with various armbars, which he transitions into side and release suplexes, dropkicks, a superkicks and finally a powerbomb into the corner and a frog splash for a two count. He attempts a moonsault, but Fear rolls out of the way at the last second and Raab crashes into the mat.
Deimos takes command for the next couple of minutes, resuming his attack on Raab’s legs and knees. He adds in a neckbreaker, a spear and a Facebuster for good measure before he finally hits “The Numbing”. He gets a two count before Raab gets his foot on the bottom rope. Deimos pulls him up and Raab surprises him with a roll up for a really close two count. From here the two exchange holds and counters for the next couple of minutes before Raab surprises Fear with the “Ice Storm”. The move leaves both men down with Raab clutching at his right knee after an awkward push off. Glenn begins the count.
Both get to their feet at roughly the same time. Deimos immediately drives his foot into Raab’s tweaked knee, sending him down to one knee. Raab tries to get up and Deimos does it again. And again. And again. On Raab’s fifth attempt to stand up, Deimos fakes the kick and DDTs him. He runs back and blasts Raab in the face with a running dropkick when he tries to get back up, then leaps up onto the turnbuckle and lands “Fainting” across Raab’s back. He immediately pops up and connects with the “Meteor Press” for the three count.
Winner: Phrixus Deimos
Time: 9:22
Both sides of this six person match have members with big wins at Infinity and have kicked off 2022 strong. Strongly? Adverbs are dumb. At any rate, it’s easy to see why as the opening moments are an exciting demonstration of skill and talent that doesn’t at all appear as if it might spill into chaos. Green is quite satisfied with the clean tags and only very brief (but effective) double team maneuvers and saves.
We’re currently with Ken and Seb, and we get a sort of dueling suplex demonstration, with neither getting the upper hand. Eventually Davison tags out to his fellow Cooperative Champion. She immediately throws the grand slammer off his game with some vicious strikes. She rocks him around the perimeter of the ring, preventing him from getting any sort of meaningful offense. Eventually he tags in his former Cooperative partner.
The Icon and the Jawdropper have a solid back and forth, trading rapid blows for a few minutes until Travis evades and uppercuts and runs for The Truth Hurts. He goes for the first pinfall of the match but only gets a two count. Kyra dives to tag in Deathwish.
The UGWC fans have obviously been waiting for this feud to continue, based on the explosion from the crowd. Yamazaki tears across the ring, knocking Pierce off his feet. What follows is an absolute mauling that finishes up with the Wheel of Fortune. Pierce is nearly finished, but Seb saves him at the very last second. The CCP client squares up with the HYE headliner, giving Travis a chance to tag in the World Champion.
Centurion and Seb execute a double spinebuster, leaving Cent in full control as Everett-Bryce slides back out to their corner. Centurion covers, but Davison is in to break it up. Pierce rushes into the ring to attack Davison, but Davison sidesteps him and tosses him over the top rope. Pierce holds on to the ropes and lands on the apron, but as he turns back around Davison leaps over him and yanks him off the apron into the Fall From Grace, driving him to ringside. The commotion has given Hide the chance to make it to his corner, tagging in Kyra as Seb has run around the ring and drills Davison with the Empire Kick. Kyra lines up Centurion for the Blackout before he can get back to his feet, but he rolls out of the way and springs up behind her to lift her into the 1000 Mile Slam, and Seb yanks Hide off the apron as the World Champion covers her for the three!
Winner: Centurion, Sebastian Everett-Bryce, and Travis Pierce
Time: 12:53
It is worth noting that Dave Rydell made his entrance first, with an army green duffle bag slung over his shoulder, carrying various weapons that he dumped into the ring once he entered. He wore his mask that he wore at his return at Horizons. And he waited patiently for Tony Savage to arrive, wielding the barbed wire baseball bat.
Tony Savage made his grand entrance. Chaos Title and light tubes along with him. He also had a long chain draped around his upper body, almost as if it was a necklace. The focus in Tony’s eyes is unlike anything seen before. As Rydell watched from his corner in the ring, Tony locked eyes and raised the Chaos Title overhead, to a very mixed reaction. Dave in turn, raised the barbwire bat overhead to a very mixed reaction.
Commentary made note that this match is very evenly split amongst the fans as the veteran Rydell has been more or less a man of the people for quite some time, and Tony Savage has been a fan favorite for a long time.
The opening bell sounds and the two circle up. Dave twirls the bat around and goes for an overhead swing but Tony rolls away to avoid a vicious hit. Dave turns around to a quick dropkick and it causes the bat to fall to the mat and roll away and out of the ring. Tony charges, following up with multiple body shots to Dave Rydell. Dave is covering up as he has some experience in the boxing world, but very little, as he does keep letting shots get through. Tony continues to pound away at the midsection, however Rydell keeps blocking and is able to counter with an elbow to Tony’s eye. A hard forward bash and it sends the Chaos Champion staggering back. Rydell charges out and goes for a flying knee to the face, but Tony is able to sidestep it just in time. He grabs Rydell from behind and goes for a reverse DDT and hits it! He covers the challenger, 1….2..kick out!
A rather quick kickout keeps Rydell in this match. Tony gets up and starts stomping away at Rydell. He walks over to sort through the items that Rydell dumped out from the duffel bag and pulls out a kendo stick. As Rydell rises up to a knee and gets up, he turns around. Tony overhead swings the kendo stick and Rydell ducks around him. As Tony turns, he gets caught with a jab to the face. And another jab, followed by another! Rydell throws a knee into Tony’s midsection and then takes him town with a running clothesline. Tony pops back up rather quickly, and Rydell smirks and he bounces off the ropes and hits him with a corkscrew forearm smash! Rydell kips up and the crowd explodes! Commentary makes note of Rydell’s age and what his body has been through, and are rather impressed he could do that. Rydell laughs and waves his finger in the air, signifying that’s the only one he has available. He goes to pick up Tony Savage, but gets caught in an inside cradle, however, Rydell kicks out at 1.
Dave gets up before Tony, and whips a rising tony across the ring. As Tony comes off the ropes, Rydell is there to launch him over the top rope with a back body drop to the outside. But wait! Tony lands on the apron. As Dave turns to make chase, he gets caught with a forearm from Tony! Tony hits Rydell enough to shove him backwards toward the center of the ring, and as Rydell comes back, Tony slingshots himself through the middle and top rope with a shoulder block. Rydell goes down and Tony starts stomping away at him. Tony then drops a few elbows to Rydell right on his sternum. He gets up and hits Rydell with a hard stomp to the chest and Dave rolls over to his stomach. Tony starts stomping on Dave’s back now. He bends over and picks up Dave, then tosses him out of the ring. Dave crashes to the floor below and Tony looks down. Tony looks around the crowd and tries to get everyone pumped up while Dave is moving around on the floor. As Tony runs the ropes, Dave stands up, and Tony goes for a suicide dive but Dave catches him in the face with a steel chair in mid air!!!
Tony crashes to the floor and the crowd is exploding at the move that just took place. Dave is sitting on the floor against the barricade with a sadistic smile on his face. He gets up and looks out into the crowd and smirks some more, very happy with the damage done before him. Dave grabs Tony and rolls him into the ring. Dave follows very shortly after.
Dave stands over the downed Tony Savage who is holding his forehead. Tony starts to get up and come to a knee, but Dave bounces off the ropes and hits a low dropkick to the upper body of Tony. Dave walks over and grabs the kendo stick from earlier and Tony pulls himself up with the ropes. Dave goes after Tony but Tony pulls the top rope down and Dave spills to the outside. Tony takes a minute and grabs the second kendo stick from the pile and rolls out of the ring. He approaches Dave and cracks him over the back with the stick. A loud thwack echos through the arena and the crowd let’s out a loud and thunderous “OOOHHHH” as it happens. Tony goes after Dave again and does it again, and again, and a fourth time before the kendo stick finally breaks in half. Red marks can be seen protruding from the openings of Dave’s shirt as he is in agonizing in pain, but lets out a sinister chuckle. Tony sees this and looks shocked, but also not at all. He starts to laugh as well. He walks over to the ring corner and pulls the chain that he walked out with.
Tony wraps part of the chain around his hand and approaches Rydell. He pulls Dave up and rears back, clobbering Dave in the face. Dave drops to the ground like a sack of potatoes. Blood trickles from the veteran’s forehead. Tony smirks as he pulls Dave up. Dave, out of desperation shoves Tony away. Tony comes back, swinging the dangling part of the chain around. Dave is working on standing up and Tony whips him in the back with the chain. The shock goes through Dave’s body and he pops right up, staggering around in pain. Dave makes his way into the ring quickly to get himself a moment. Tony quickly follows through and goes after the challengers. Dave turns around to Tony, who is ready to attack again but Dave hits him with the After Shock!!! Both men are down and now Dave has some time.
The crowd has exploded at this fight. After a few moments, Dave pulls himself up with the ropes and grabs the steel chair from earlier and starts wailing on Tony’s back. The chair bends and contorts with Tony’s back with every hit. Dave looks around for something else and then he rolls out of the ring while Tony lays there. Dave goes under the ring and pulls out a wooden table and slides it into the ring. He sets it up close to one of the corners and grabs Tony and lays him down on the table. Dave climbs up to the top rope and steadies himself. The crowd is electric as Dave is getting ready to leap off and decimate his opponent. As Dave steadies himself, he points out to the crowd, then uses both hands to point down to Tony, but just before he leaps, Tony rolls off the table and Dave looks disappointed. Tony staggers away from the table for a moment and turns around but Dave took no chances and leaps anyway, hitting a flying clothesline, clearing the table, taking both of them down!
The crowd is going bonkers as Dave crawls over and covers Tony, Hazel slides in to count, 1…2…kick out! Dave sits up and smirks, dried blood covering his forehead. He pulls Tony up and tosses him back outside the ring as he wants to do some more damage. Dave rolls out after him and stops. He looks down to his right and gets into almost a trance as he bends over. The crowd starts to cheer as he picks up the barbwire bat. He looks at it, almost in love with it. He heads over to Tony, who is now up and leaning against the barricade. Dave takes a swing with the bat and misses Tony! Tony ducked just in time and Dave slammed the bat into the barricade. After that, Dave makes chase to Tony, who is now around on the announcer side of the ring. Dave charges and goes for an overhead swing but Tony moves again. Dave slams the bat into the announcer table. The three announcers back away and comment about how close that was to them.
Dave backs away from the table and Tony charges, goes for a clothesline, but Dave ducks under. Tony turns around and Dave charges with the bat and Tony grabs him and hits a massive spinebuster out on the floor! Tony looks down at the bat that Dave just dropped and picks it up. Dave is rolling over to try and get up and Tony takes the bat and hits Dave right in the back! The barbwire tears his shirt and through that, we can see stab marks from the barbwire, as well as the marks from the chain and kendo stick hits! Tony looks surprised and is laughing at this. He stands over Dave who is now on his knees, almost defeated, and Tony goes to swing again but Dave rolls away out of desperation. Tony uses so much momentum that he hits the bat on the floor and it sends a shock through his hands. He drops the bat and goes after Dave.
Dave has made his way back into the ring and goes to the pile of weapons and starts rummaging. Tony grabs Dave from behind and goes for a reverse DDT but Dave forces his way out. As he turns, Dave hits Tony in the face with a hard right hand that sends Tony down to the mat. Dave holds his hand and blood start coming out of it, while Tony lays there bleeding from the head. Dave just punched Tony with barbed wire wrapped around his hand! Dave goes to pick up Tony; after a few moments of making sure his hand is good to go. He goes to pick him up but Tony hits him with a low blow out of desperation! Tony grabs Dave and shoves him into the corner. He starts hitting Dave and goes for the Ten Piece and a Biscuit! Tony climbs up to start punching Dave’s head and he succeeds! Dave is bleeding all over again and Tony keeps punching him. After a few more hits, Dave, out of a desperation, hooks his arms and grabs Tony….he runs out and hits a falling powerbomb right into the pile of weapons!!!
The crowd is losing it over the carnage in this match. Both men are down and Hazel checks on them both. After a few minutes of them laying down and rolling around, both start to stir. Both a bloodied and beaten mess. Tony is up first and heads over to the wooden table and pulls it closer to the middle of the ring. Dave pulls himself up with the ropes. Tony walks over and grabs Dave by the head, and pulls him towards the table. He lifts Dave onto his shoulders and goes for the One Winged Angel! Tony nails it, RIGHT THROUGH THE TABLE!!!!! He covers, 1…2…3!!!!!!
