Vinegar: Welcome, one and all, to Battleground!
Covert Jay: Huttah!
Vinegar: We've got five big matches on the card tonight, with three championships on the line!
Lieberjosch: Ragdoll puts the Cross-Hemisphere Title on the line against the promising newcomer Vespertine, and the Baltimore Elite will defend the Cooperative Title against the team of Donovan Hastings and Phrixus Deimos.
Covert Jay: Tony Savage won the Outlast Tournament last month and became the World Heavyweight Champion, and he defends the title for the first time tonight against Lucy Wylde!
Vinegar: It all leads to tonight's main event, the Battleground Match that awards the winner not only the Battleground Key, but they will challenge the World Champion next month at this year's WrestleStock Festival! Let's get right to-
The lights go out.
The Coalition seems confused by this sudden change in programming, until something is heard on the sound system. A scream. Glass breaking, then...
Voice: The body count continues...
"Hunter's Moon" by Ghost begins to play now and the lights turn into a cool blue, forming a spotlight on the stage. Suddenly, 'The Bogeyman' JC steps out from the back into that spotlight, to a surprised reaction from the crowd. He was supposed to be retired. But he's here at UGWC Battleground.
JC begins to stroll to the ring, not really trying to hide the grin as the excited Coalition welcome him back with various cheers and chants. JC climbs up the steps and casually steps through the ropes before immediately dropping to his knees and kissing the canvas. He gets back up and asks for a microphone, which he gets. After waiting for the noise to die down a little, he speaks.
JC: It was a little over a year ago that I quit UGWC.
There are some boos from the audience, but not as many as he thought. In fact, it seems the majority still want him around.
JC: But that's in the past. Because a lot can change in a year. A lot HAS changed in a year. I lost a lot. I lost people. I lost my job. I lost my mind. I nearly lost my life. But the one thing I didn't lose was my drive. Because I'm back. And not only am I back, I am officially declaring myself for the Wrestlestock Open.
Cheers now and JC smiles again.
JC: I know, I have a lot I'd like to talk about but I'm not going to take up much more time. There are quite a few Synergys between now and then and you'll see me again. But let's talk about the fact that I said I was retired. I am retired. This isn't the start of me coming back full time. Those days are done. I am here for the Open. It's one of those things, one of those unanswered questions that I need answered.
He starts to pace a little, typical JC when he gets fired up.
JC: I've made my mark everywhere else and it's UGWC that eludes me. Finalist at Outlast, but not the winner. Close to winning the World title, but pinned. Twice. Success in UGWC is hard to come by, and I've learned that lesson quite a bit. And honestly, when I left last year, I didn't think I was ever coming back.
He stops in place and smiles again.
JC: But I managed to break my title drought elsewhere, and it put that question back in my head. Can I do it here? Can I finally get this monkey off my back? So that's what I'm here to do. I'm here to win the Wrestlestock Open and I'm here to win gold. If I don't, then I'm back out that door, satisfied that at least I gave it once last try.
The smile turns into a frown.
JC: I know there are people that do not want me here. I've got enemies. I'd call them out, but they know who they are and they know who I am. I'm not hard to find. Because this year, if you want to win that Open, you have to go through me. Sign up, challenge me on a Synergy. Because this offer is good for a limited time only.
JC looks up at the nearest camera now, at anyone in the locker room that may be watching.
JC: The end is coming. I am writing the final chapter to my own story, and that means I plan to win the Wrestlestock Open. I plan to get that title shot in August and I'll win that too. Or else I will die trying. I don't know how much I have left, but the Coalition is going to get every last drop of it. If you want to rise to the challenge, come at me. If you want me gone, come take me out yourself. One way or another, the myth of JC is going to end. But until then...
He smiles again.
JC: JC Kills.
He tosses the microphone out of his hands as his music plays again, then exits the ring as casually as he entered. He manages to slap a few hands as he heads to the back, ready to end his career on his own terms, one way or another.
