As previously reported, TNA recently hired a consulting firm to analyze their television ratings data and conduct surveys to learn what fans think about the product. One of the findings that have caught the attention of TNA management is that males 18-34 still have strong positive feelings about the original ECW. Based on that research, Eric Bischoff is said to interested in starting a stable of ECW originals - led by none other than Paul Heyman.
Among the names discussed to be included in the faction include TNA Champion Rob Van Dam, Team 3D, Raven, Mick Foley, Stevie Richards, Taz and Tommy Dreamer, who is currently a free agent.
People within TNA are torn as to whether Heyman would come to TNA as an on air character or writer - but it's certainly being talked about. Heyman is currently working on his autobiography and another book.
personally, I think that this won't help as much with bringing in the targeted demograph, as they'd still be playing within the normal wrestling rules, which ECW didn't do as matches ending in count-out or DQ never really solved anything.

I think if TNA wants to market itself as "the alternative" as they have claimed in the past, they should be doing new ideas and not retreaded things we've seen time and again. ECW has "returned" multiple times already, not to mention WWE owns all the trademarks, so they'd have to call it something stupid like "The Band."

That being said, people will still probably mark out for it. Did you see the pop RVD got winning the title? I think anything that can get TNA more exposure and more ratings is a good thing. Especially if they can get Heyman on board then the booking may improve too.

yeah that would be true, but then there is also the whole 'WWE already did it' sort of thing. could that also possibly drive away some TNA viewers with the thoughts that TNA is trying, in a way, to be WWE?

When has that ever stopped TNA in the past?
