Debut match for Blakely here, and she’s making a helluva show against Vespertine. Pele kick catches the Diva by surprise, and Blakely follows up with a springboard legdrop. She’s about to ascend the ropes again, and the announcers point out how much of her arsenal includes devastating high-risk moves.
Vespertine obviously did her homework, because he rolls out of the ring, avoiding whatever Blakely was planning. As Brooke changes tact and begins to get down, Ves leaps onto the apron and hits a double punch, knocking her off the ring.
From there, Vespertine leaps into a flying cross body that knocks Blakely into ringside chairs that were just vacated a split second before.
Nasmith exits the ring to get the competitors back into the ring. This time Ves is fully in control. Springboard arm drag leads to a shining wizard. Vespertine sets up for Epically Diva, but only manages to get a two count before Brooke kicks out.
Vespertine tries to pull Blakely into another suplex, but Brooke kips up and hits a superkick. A moonsault keeps Ves down, and the Daydream hits a springboard elbow. After a tornado DDT, she goes up for Frenzied Spirit. Unfortunately, Vespertine gets her knees up, and Brooke takes them full in the chest.
It takes a few minutes of them rolling around in pain, but Vespertine manages to get to her feet a few seconds before Blakely. She manages to hit Breaking the Bank and that’s good for the cover and a three count.
Winner: Vespertine
Time: 7:43
This is the first Conquest Championship defense for Montague Cervantes, who ended the streak of Tony Savage and won the title last week.
The bell rings to start the match, and Deimos immediately drops to the mat and rolls out of the ring. Cervantes and the referee both look confused, but Deimos begins walking up the ramp. Cervantes appears insistent that he isn’t falling for whatever is up here, meanwhile the referee begins the ten count, calling for the bell as Deimos reaches the stage!
Winner: Montague Cervantes
Time: 0:41
The Globotron springs to life, showing the assembled Consortium. Director Ooley reveals that due to the unavailability of “Pete Davison” the planned World Championship match for Battleground has been canceled. However, the title must be defended at the event, so a replacement challenger has been selected, one that deserves the opportunity and can present a suitable and appropriate challenge. The Consortium has selected a former World Heavyweight Champion who is an icon of UGWC to do the honor. Director Peterson reveals that next week at Battleground, Lucy Wylde will defend her title against Phrixus Deimos.
Still on the stage, Deimos glares towards Cervantes in the ring, before taking a bow.
Konrad kicks us off against Seb. He's holding his own really well by dodging the Chaos champ's kicks and throwing some wild but accurate haymakers. He gets hold of Sebastian and hits a DDT followed by a release German suplex. He goes for the cover, but Tact dives in to make the save.
Tact makes the tag and comes in against Konrad with a running high knee, then follows up with a kickswing DDT. He finishes up with an abdominal stretch into a side slam, then nails a picture perfect Tactilizer!
He covers, but Hastings sees that Konrad is within reach and tags himself in. He rushes in, hitting Tact with a facebreaker DDT. After a half-nelson leg sweep, he sets Larry up for Destiny’s Call, but Tact shoves him off and scrambles for his corner. He tags Sebastian, who returns to the ring with a springboard dropkick against the Lord of Pain.
Seb throws a few punt kicks to Donovan’s head to keep him down. Scooping him up, the Mauler hits a belly to back suplex. Behind him, Konrad is beginning to recover from the Tactilizer he ate earlier.
Dragging him back to his feet, Seb sets Donny up for the Stamford Bridge! Before he can bridge, though, Raab kicks his legs from under him causing him to drop Hastings. He hits a Burninator on Seb, but instead of capitalizing on the surprise, he leaps over Seb and grabs his own cooperative partner. One Flaming Driver later, and Burned in Blood has exited the ring!
Tact reaches way over the ropes and manages to brush Seb with his fingertips, and East counts it as a tag. He hops in and scoots over to roll Hastings up, getting the three and the win!
Winners: Larry Tact and Sebastian Everett-Bryce
Time: 5:38
Commentary wraps up a hard sell for Battleground by reminding us that the Red Wolves will both be competing inside the cell, and adds that JC and Knox will be in cooperative action next week at the event regardless of the outcome of this match.
JC starting off the match against Ezra, their recent rivalry renewed in this match. Ezra opens with a flurry of offense, delivering a series of striking combinations, including a stiff shot to the face that staggers JC. JC manages to retaliate with a clothesline that knocks Ezra down, and JC tags out to Knox.
Knox comes in and delivers some Muay Thai offense of his own, as out on the apron JC checks his own jaw. Knox finishing a combination with a knee strike and transitions to a double arm, but Ezra snaps his arms loose and quickly pivots as he stands into Point Break. Knox staggers and falls to his knees, and Ezra follows up with the Blindspot, and he goes for the cover, but JC breaks it up at two.
Rydell tries to come into the ring but is intercepted by the referee, and Rydell argues as he is redirected to his corner. Ezra tries to deliver a forearm shot to JC as he returns to the apron, but JC ducks it, and a recovered Knox grabs Ezra from behind for a German suplex. JC and Knox begin to make a series of rapid tags, showing solid chemistry as a team and keeping Ezra isolated from his partner, who grows impatient on the apron.
With JC legal in the ring, he begins to target the fingers of Ezra, manipulating the small joints, but Ezra manages to catch him with a forearm shot from his other hand, following up with a Fore’n Object! JC staggers, and Ezra delivers a superkick to the knee, completes the Lightning Strike, and both men are down! Sam Green starts a ten count, but at seven both begin to stir and crawl towards the corners, with Ezra diving to make a tag to Rydell, as JC does the same to Knox! Both men rush into the ring, but Rydell connects with the Tip of the Spear, and he hooks the leg for a two count!
Rydell delivers some mounted strikes, then drags Knox up and shoves him into the Red Wolves corner, delivering a pair of shoulder thrusts before making a tag to Ezra. Ezra steps into the ring as Rydell monkey flips Knox out of the corner, right into Kickin’ it Old School! Ezra covers, but Knox gets his shoulder up at two!
Ezra makes a tag back to Rydell, who comes into the ring and waves Knox up as Ezra heads to the top rope, setting up for Gravity Falls. Rydell goes for the Virus of Life, but Knox shoves him away, right into the Dance Macabre from JC, who has come into the ring! Ezra hesitates at the sight from the top rope, and Knox shoves him off the turnbuckle, sending him crashing to ringside! Rydell gets to his feet, but is immediately drilled by the Big Boot of Death, which spins him around and into Knox, who lifts for Into the Void! Knox drops onto Rydell for the cover, and gets the three!
