DEC 11TH
We hear the low hum of an appliance as the scene opens inside of a mostly dark room. A triangle of light forms as the door to the room opens and we can faintly see a leather couch and similar looking recliner. We also catch a glimpse of the source of the noise. A small mini fridge with a digital temperature gauge on the door that reads 43*. The triangle of light is briefly blocked by a silhouette before the door is closed. Another triangle appears as the flashlight of a cell phone is turned on and begins to scan the room.
The holder of the phone walks towards a large screen on the wall. A hand reaches out and turns it on. A few moments later, the room is lit up by Glenn Burke handing the championship to Alan Wallace. And we can see that the silhouette is none other than Ezra Wolf.
“Celebrate now, Al,” Ezra says, his eyes wide. “BUT… I want you to think about something as your head hits the pillow. Leading up to Horizons, you fought in a Co-Op Match and against two dudes that can barely win a match on purpose. Sebby fought in TWO title matches for a total of over 40 minutes, my dude.”
“My point is that instead of Christmas cards like some of us wrote this week, you should be writing some ‘thank you’ cards to myself, Doll, and Knox. Ya know, since we softened him up for you while you essentially sat on your ass.”
Ezra turns his attention back to the TV as Wallace raises the championship over his head.
“That should be me up there. Enjoy it, Al. We’re 1 and 1 against each other. My time will come.”
Ezra turns away from the TV and heads for the door. He stops at the last minute and pauses for a few moments. Ezra then heads for the mini fridge and reaches behind it. He then unplugs it before heading back for the door and back into the hallway. The scene fades as the room is just illuminated by the TV screen as Alan Wallace continues celebrating.
