“No, Ms. Wade. I haven’t heard from since right before Horizons when he trashed the bathroom.”
The scene opens to Nora pacing in the living room in her apartment, phone glued to her ear.
“Oddly enough, I called Anthony looking to see if they’d heard from him. When he heard what happened, he sent over some of his employees, and they took care of the mess. No no. It’s okay. I’m going to spend the day with some friends in Sacramento. It’s fine. I’m just worried that he hasn’t reached out to anyone, especially you. Okay. Thanks for checking in.”
Ezra’s sudden destructive outburst was worrisome enough but him not even checking in with his mom was even worse. She’d only known him for a couple of years, which meant that she had only so many resources at hand when trying to track down her boyfriend.
Nora plopped down onto the couch and scrolled through her contacts to double check if there was anyone she hadn’t reached out to since his disappearance. Honestly, she was surprised when he showed up his match at Horizons because he would usually call her before he went on deck. And then there were the somewhat disturbing videos of him trespassing into the locker rooms of Larry Tact and Alan Wallace.
Double-checking her contacts didn’t merit anything new. For now, all she could do was wait. In a couple weeks, the 2024 season of UGWC would pick up and she’d make contact with Ezra even if it meant flying to Chicago and camping out in the locker rooms inside the UGWC Arena. Ezra needed help and she wasn’t going to quit until she was able to bring him back into the light.
