Monday, February 5, 2024 - Chicago, Illinois: UGWC Arena
Vain staggers through the curtain, his eyes slightly glazed over from eating an Empire Kick and a Wylde Liberation in such quick succession mere moments ago. Simon Wellington immediately rushes to his side, grabbing Vain's arm and draping it over his shoulder in order to help his friend and client.
Simon: Come now, Alan. I've got you. Let's get you back to Jordan.
A look of disgust forms on the face of Alan Wallace as he shoves Simon away, nearly falling in the process.
Alan: To hell with Jordan! I want Donovan. Where the hell is Donovan?!
Members of the production crew do their best to avoid the angry World Champion, as he begins making his way through the backstage area.
Alan: DONOVAN! Come face me, you bastard!
Simon: Owen met Donovan immediately after he came back from the match, Alan. I believe they have already left the arena.
Alan has made his way over to a small concession table, filled with bottles of room temperature water. Incensed at the news, he yells out before grabbing the table and flipping it over.
Alan: SONOFABITCH!
Simon: I know you're angry Alan, but we need to have one of Jordan's guys take a look at you. Let's make sure you aren't concussed.
Alan looks over at Simon and finally relents, half-nodding as he drapes his championship over his shoulder. He looks around as he slowly begins making his way through the gorilla area.
Alan: It's a crying damn shame that this company allows its World Heavyweight Champion to be treated in such a way. To continually put him into positions to be injured and embarrassed. To continually set him up for failure. What kind of third-rate company are you fucking people running here?!
Simon: That's enough, Alan. Come on.
Wallace sneers at the remark, before glancing off to his right and seeing the Head of UGWC Human Resources, Robert Ooley. He immediately begins trying to get at Ooley, Simon doing his best to get in between them and maneuver Vain down the hall.
Alan: It isn't enough, Simon, and you know it! It's that bastard right there… he is the one behind this! He can't stand the fact that I've returned, and he hates the fact that I was able to do what nobody else in this company was able to for two fucking years!
Ooley brings Louis up into view, beginning to tap his open palm with it.
Ooley: Cowell, you best get Humble the fuck out of my face before I reintroduce him to Louis!
Simon continues attempting to push Vain down the hall, and away from Ooley.
Alan: To hell with you, you smarmy prick! You walk around here like you own the place, when you haven't been nearly as relevant as you think you are for the past two decades! How about I come over there and shove that bat of yours up your own ass?!
Ooley: I'd like to see you try it, you arrogant twat! You'll be in the unemployment line and that title of yours will be up for grabs before you step foot on the plane back to that cesspool you call home.
Multiple members of the UGWC security staff have now made their way to the area and are assisting Simon with forcing Alan down the hall.
Alan: I want Donovan, Ooley! And I'm not waiting until Infinity!
Ooley: Who in the hell do you think you are, dictating to me?!
Alan: You fucking heard me, douche! I want Hastings! Next week! Give me Hastings!
The scene then devolves into a whole bunch of yelling back and forth, as Vain continues being forcible assisted down the hall.

Alan: Making yourself at home, I see.
Alan has walked into the kitchen and immediately stopped in his tracks. He eyes Simon Wellington standing there, the refrigerator door open, as Simon is looking inside.
Simon: I hope you don't mind that I helped myself to some coffee, Alan. My issue is that I can't seem to find the creamer that I like.
Alan sighs as he walks over and pours himself a cup of coffee. He then makes his way over to the table and takes a seat.
Alan: Likely because you finished it off the last time you were here, Simon.
Now it's Simon's turn to sigh, as he slowly closes the refrigerator door.
Simon: I just thought you would have had Ingrid get more.
Alan: Why? I drink my coffee black.
Simon: I just thought you'd be a gracious host.
Alan: You thought wrong. What do you want, Simon?
Simon walks over and takes a seat across from Alan.
Simon: I just wanted to see how you were doing. We haven't spoken since getting back to Miami.
Alan: There's nothing to really say, Simon. Ooley and his band of misfits hate the fact that I'm their champion, so they will do whatever it takes to make me look bad. And Hastings is all too happy to play his role in that.
Alan takes a sip of his coffee.
Alan: Maybe I'll do like Sebastian did and take my talents elsewhere. Only I would take the UGWC World Title with me and not come back.
Simon: Let's not make any hasty decisions, Alan.
Alan: And why shouldn't I, Simon? Nobody in this godforsaken company respects me. Maybe I'll go to a place that will?
Simon: I think emotions are still running high from Monday night-
Alan: You're goddamn right they are, Simon. And why shouldn't they be? Look at how quickly Donovan chose to turn on me, and simply watch as things transpired the way that they did?
Simon: Well, it's Donovan. Had he not done so would have had me worried.
Alan glares at him as he takes another sip of coffee.
Alan: What a knife in the back, though. I mean, I invited him into my home…
Simon: Well, he wasn't really invited, he just pseudo broke him.
Alan: I was gracious enough to offer him something to eat while he was here…
Simon: Didn't he just sit down and help himself, after Celeste stepped out?
Alan: And the thanks that I get for that hospitality is for him to allow the wolves to feast on me, as he simply sat back and watched.
Simon: Didn't he shoot people with paintballs in order to gain access here last week?
Alan takes a sip of coffee as he looks at Simon in silence for a few seconds.
Alan: What's your point, Simon?
Simon: My point is, how did you ever think you could trust him anyway? Look at his track record, Alan!
The two men sit in silence for a few moments, the only sound being that of the two of them intermittently sipping coffee from their respective mugs. Alan finally breaks the silence.
Alan: It's just the audacity of it all. Especially for it to happen when we were facing who we were.
Simon: What do you mean, Alan?
Alan: Of all the people that could have been on the other side of the ring from us that night, it had to be Sebastian and Lucy?
Simon: They are two of the best in the industry, Alan. Plus, they're the reigning UGWC Cooperative Champions. There's no shame in losing to the two of them.
Alan: Maybe so, but now we'll never hear the end of it, I'm sure. Which is sad… best friends aren't supposed to pile on when one of them is down. I'd never do that to her.
Simon: I hate to be the bearer of bad news, Alan… but I don't think Ms. Wylde puts as much stock into this supposed 'friendship' as you do.
Alan: Statements like that cut deep, Simon. Truly.
Simon: I'm just saying Alan, Ms. Wylde and Mr. Maclean are close… Ms. Wylde and Mr. Everett-Bryce are close… and those relationships are well documented. This 'friendship' between Ms. Wylde and yourself, sadly, seems to only exist in your own head.
Alan: Maybe you're right, Simon…
Alan takes another, longer sip of coffee.
Alan: But then again, a real friend will do whatever it takes to make the other happy, yes?
Simon looks at him curiously for a moment.
Simon: I suppose so, yes.
Alan: Well then, I must be the best friend ever!
Simon: I… you… ok, elaborate.
Alan: Well think about it, Simon. Ms. Wylde has been a bit down-on-her-luck the last six months, yes?
Simon: If you say so?
Alan: Granted, she is one-half of the Cooperative Champions, but she lost her World Title to Sebastian… and even worse, she was screwed out of the chance of wrestling 'Yours Truly' by Travis Pierce. Things have not been great for Ms. Wylde as of late, so in steps a true best friend.
Simon: I really have no idea where you're going with this, Alan.
Alan: She was the one who pinned me, Simon. Lucy Wylde pinned me. Lucy Wylde beat 'Vain' Alan Wallace! That's something that her farce of a best friend, Sebastian Everett-Bryce, couldn't do. Talk about things looking up!
Simon: I really don't know what to do with that line of thought, Alan.
Alan is now no longer paying attention, preferring to escape to his own little reality.
Alan: Of course, unlike Sebastian, Lucy has beaten me before. Many times. Only in cooperative or multi-man matches, but still. It's something to hang her hat on, and honestly should put her at the front of the line for a one-on-one Championship Match with me. She definitely has earned it more than Donovan has, though if the past is any indication, maybe she doesn't want a World Championship match against me. They haven't boded well for her previously. But hey, it's the thought that counts, right?
Alan snaps to when he doesn't get a response, and he looks around to see Simon getting ready to walk out of the kitchen.
Alan: Where are you going, Simon? I figured out that Donovan's actions were actually a favor, as it allowed me to give my bestie yet another gift. Though I still feel the need to kick his ass for how he went about it. Nevertheless, I feel better now.
Simon: You're truly a magnanimous person, Alan.
Alan: Well thank you.
Simon: By the way, you've gotten your wish for this week. You will be in the ring, and across from you will be Donovan Hastings.
Alan begins to smile.
Alan: Excellent.
Simon: Yeah, it's for a contract signing for Infinity. Rumor has it that if you initiate any sort of fracas between the two of you, you will be removed from the World Championship match, and you will be stripped of the title.
Alan: WHAT?!?!
Simon: Toodles.
With that, Simon steps through the kitchen and turns the corner, and moments later the sound of the door shutting behind him is heard. Alan sits there for a few moments, growing visibly angrier and angrier.
Alan: OOLEY!
