FEB 20
The screen opens to Ezra Wolf driving while on the phone. The phone isn’t on speaker so we can only hear one side of the conversation.
“It’s pretty much a risk-free procedure, bro. Yeah, you’re right. Nothing is ever risk-free. Did you Google the side effects or some shit? How would you even know that?”
Ezra pauses to merge into some heavy traffic before resuming the conversation.
“Okay, I get it. But weigh the pros and cons, my dude. Major PRO is being able to walk like a normal human again. What’s the major CON? The cost? I got you, bro. Don’t worry about where my money comes from. It’s all taken care of. I even got us an appointment here in Chicago…”
“You’re still in Chicago, right? Well you better get back here, dude. Why the fuck are you in Montana? Fly back here. I’ll reimburse you! Okay. Cool. I’ll send you the info. And then you can ask the bajillion questions to the doctor during the consult or whatever it’s called. See you tomorrow, Mr. Scott”
Ezra ends the call before Zane can give a rebuttal as the scene fades..

The scene fades back into Ezra and Zane sitting in a small office, each with a clipboard in hand. The two men are filling out the paperwork as Ezra leans over to look at what Zane is doing.
“It’s not a test, Ezra. It’s not like you can copy my answers.” Zane says without looking up.
Ezra maneuvers back to his seat with a dejected look on his face.
The door to the office opens and in walks a middle-aged looking doctor who takes a seat behind a large desk that takes up most of the space in the room.
“I’m glad you gentlemen have decided to go through with the procedure. I understand there was some hesitation?”
Zane looks up.
“The recovery time is roughly two weeks?” he asks. “When I tried to find a definitive answer, the results were misleading.”
“The therapy that you and Mr. Wolf are doing has a recovery time of about 10-14 days where you’ll feel a bit stiff or sore. If we were doing something much more in-depth like cancer treatment, the recovery could be much longer. Mr. Wolf explained your occupation and the therapy shouldn’t interfere with the wrestling.”
Zane had gone back to filling out his forms while the doctor was talking and he sets the clipboard on the desk. The doctor picks it up and begins to skim through it. After a bit, he sets it back down with a worried expression on his face. He interlocks his fingers then looks at Zane.
“Mr. Scott, even after briefly looking through your records, I think you should consider one of our other therapies. This one that you’re signing up for will help with your pain but only temporarily. Your body has significant damage, especially in your knees and back.”
Zane sits back in his chair and crosses his arms.
“And if I did do one with more lasting results, what is the recovery time?” he asks, raising his eyebrows slightly.
“It could be anywhere from 6 weeks to 6 months. I’d recommend you taking even longer, just to be safe.”
“No can do, doc. I have a championship to retain. And I can’t do that sitting on a couch with my feet up. I'll make you deal. I'll come talk to you about that other procedure when I retire in a few years.”
A shocked expression comes across Ezra's face, although neither Zane or the doctor notice.
“It’ll be worth it in the long run to get the… uh... shall we say, one and done treatment.”
“We good here?” Zane says, getting to his feet.
“Yes. I believe we are.” the doctor says as he reaches for his desk phone. “Yes, they’re ready.”
A brief moment later, the door opens and a nurse enters and waves for Zane and Ezra to follow her. Zane does but Ezra lingers.
“I’m not done with the paperwork, bro.” he says as the doctor takes the clipboard from him.
“Mr. Wolf… the paperwork is done. You’ve just been doodling on the backs of the form!”
Ezra chuckles to himself before following Zane out the door as the scene fades once again.

We open up to Ezra laying in his bed. He currently has an ice pack settled on his knee and he gingerly sits up in the bed as his phone chimes. He takes a moment and mumbles to himself something about the card for Synergy. He lets out an exhale before pushing a couple buttons and putting the phone to his ear.
“Zaniac! How’re you feeling, bro? No… why would I be sleeping? It’s not even early in the day. Anyways, did you see the card for Synergy? Well, go look. I’ll give you a sec.”
About a half second goes by…
“What’s taking so long, bro? YEAH! I knew you were worried about being sore or what… yeah you were! Oh wait. No, no. You’re right. That was me that was worried. Anyways, I was calling to say that it seems like… actually, I don’t remember why I was calling. I thought it was to tell you that you shouldn’t have been worried but then you reminded me that you weren’t the one that was worried. So now I don’t know why I was calling. Hello?”
Somewhere during that bit of confusion, Zane had hung up the phone.
“Probably bad service in Montana or something…”
