UGWC.COM EXCLUSIVE
Dennis: LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, YOUR WINNER AND NEW UGWC CHAOS CHAMPION…EZRA WOLF!!!!
The scene opens as the ring announcer proclaims Ezra Wolf as the new Chaos Champion and we see a small logo in the corner that lets us know this was only seen on UGWC.com. Ezra is wearily making his way down the scaffold as referees and medical personnel attend to The Avenger. Once he gets back to ground level, Hazel East hands him the Chaos Championship and the fans begin a ‘BOTH THESE GUYS’ chant. The Avenger gets to his feet outside the ring with the aid of the medical personnel and Ezra gives him a respectful nod. The Avenger gives a shaky thumbs up in return before heading up the ramp.
After a pausing to take in the moment, Ezra climbs up the frame of the scaffolding a short ways and raises the title over his head as the fans let out a roar of approval. He climbs back down and heads up the ramp as well. The camera follows him through the Gorilla Position and into the backstage area where Nora is waiting for him. She runs up and gives him a huge hug that causes him to wince in pain. She lets go and grasps his hand, apologizing for the bit of pain she caused. Ezra gives her a kiss and they slowly head towards the locker room area.
Outside of the locker room door the two exchange a bit of unheard dialogue before Nora departs. As Ezra reaches to open the door, Roxy Malone appears with her handy-dandy microphone.
“Ezra! I know you just had a grueling match, but can we get a quick word from the new Chaos Champion!”
Ezra lets out a sigh before turning towards Roxy.
“C’mon in, Rox,” he says as he walks into the locker room followed by Roxy.
Once inside, he can see the next match taking place on a monitor. Larry Tact and Trent Steel are beating the crap out of each other. Ezra winces again as Steel attempts to get Tact up in The Eradication, a move that Ezra felt earlier this year. Larry fights out and slams Steel onto the iron table with the Tactilizer to get the hard-fought victory.
Ezra turns way from the monitor as Tact gets to his feet and Steel yells ‘this isn’t over’.
“You know what, Roxy? I’ll say everything that I need to on Synergy.”
“Don’t let anyone ever make you feel like you don’t deserve what you want.” – Patrick Verona
Ezra Wolf always had mixed feelings about the breaks after big events in UGWC. Part of him was grateful, especially when it was a tough fight like he had with The Avenger. Another part of him gets restless, especially when he was victorious after that tough fight and looking to continue his momentum. He wasn’t one to argue or bitch about the breaks though. It wouldn’t do any good. Management knew best when it came to this sort of thing. Which is why UGWC had been in consistent business for over 14 years. Sometimes he’d spend the break taking Nora somewhere nice or visiting his mom wherever she was at that moment in time.
This was different though. This time he knew he couldn’t halt the progress he’d been making. While everyone else in UGWC might be enjoying some downtime after Alchemy, he had upped his fitness regiment and spent nearly 3 or 4 hours a day training. Training in the ring, with the heavy bag, on the stairclimber, etc. Nora had been pestering him to take a day off from the gym and after 9 days of it, he finally did. And that’s where we join the new Chaos Champion as he sits in a hot tub. Ezra is submerged in the water up his neck with his head leaned back against the edge of the tub and his eyes closed.
He's startled back to consciousness as Nora leans over and gives a kiss reminiscent of the first kiss between Kirsten’s MJ and Tobey’s Spider-Man.
“Hey, love,” he says groggily. “You’re looking as gorgeous as ever. Sorry I’ve been so hyper-focused on training. I just want to keep things going in a good direction. Winning the belt is one thing. Keeping it is something else.”
“You can’t burn the candle at both ends, Ez.” Nora says as she digs in her purse that’s sitting on a table next to the hot tub.
“Blame my stubbornness, I guess. This was a great idea.”
“It’s important to rest. Especially since you’re facing the World Champ next week.”
The statement causes Ezra to sit up from the spot he’d been resting in.
“Wait, what? For real?”
“Yup. Your phone buzzed while I was inside the hotel room. They announced the matches for next week. Ezra Wolf vs Alan Wallace. Chaos Champ vs World Champ.”
“No fuckin’ way.”
“Yes way,” Nora replies, finally pulling a case from her purse. She opens it up and pulls out a joint followed by a lighter before getting into the hot tub and sitting opposite Ezra, being careful not to get the joint wet. “This is the ‘rubber match’, right?”
“Yup. I came out on top in our first encounter when I defended the Conquest Championship against him. Then he won when we fought sometime later in a Chaos Rules match. We’re tied at one win a piece.”
“Which means that there’s a lot on the line, right?” Nora lights up the joint, takes a drag to get it going, then hands it to Ezra. “Even though there’s no titles on the line?”
“Most definitely,” Ezra says, passing the joint back to Nora after taking a pull. “Even though our next encounter isn’t a Chaos Rules match, it’s still pretty much a must-win situation for me. If I lose right after getting the belt, it sets a bad precedent for my run as champ. BUT if I win, that’s a win over the current World Champ who’s been on a roll.”
“You’ve been a decent run yourself, Ez. You placed third in the Global Challenge. You beat the current Co-Op Champions. You won the Chaos Championship just like you wanted. In my unprofessional opinion, you versus Alan should be the main event.”
Ezra had been in the middle of taking another drag off the joint and coughed up a bunch of smoke as Nora said that last part.
“It’s not?” he says once his coughing fit ends. “What is the main event?”
“Larry vs Donny vs Zane for the Conquest Championship.”
“Oh. Well… that’s a solid fuckin’ match right there, love. Larry in his fifth title defense versus the current Cross-Hemi Champ and the ex-Cross Hemi Champ. That’s most definitely main event material right there. Nothin’ but respect for those three dudes.”
“Sometimes I think you’re too nice to your opponents.” Nora says with a smile.
“I think it’s easier to be nice than to trash talk everybody. Acting like nobody else is on your level makes you look dumb when you lose. Recognizing the talent that this place has doesn’t make the road any easier, but I’d rather lose to someone who outdid me than to someone I claimed couldn’t lace up my boots.”
“Sounds like somebody you also need to have a rubber match with.”
“Yeah… I plan on addressing that fuckface live on Synergy.”
“Keeping it spicy. What should we do until then?”
Ezra sets the joint down in an ashtray before grabbing Nora by the hands.
“I have a few ideas,” he says, pulling her onto his lap as the scene fades out.
"Well then I guess there's only one thing left to do. Win the whole f**king thing." – Jake Taylor
I owe Alan Wallace an apology. A few months ago, I tried to downplay his victory over Sebastian the 3rd at Horizons. I claimed that myself and two others ‘softened’ Sebby up. That’s bullshit. During that time, I was going through some shit in my own head. That’s no secret. It was made public for everyone to see. Some people took the low-hanging fruit and made jokes about Nora cheating on me while I was fixing myself.
Alan could’ve done that.
Instead, he ignored my comments. Which is fine. It was a fucked up thing to say. I’ve been trying to make sense of some of the shit I said about Alan after my match at Horizons and I’m not really able to come up with a reason.
Was it jealousy over the friendship between Zane and Vain?
Was it frustration over losing in that Clusterbang Match?
Honestly, it’s probably because I was on the verge of a mental breakdown.
That’s not an excuse though. There’s a difference between reasons and excuses. I’m not trying to excuse my behavior. I’m on a path to redeem myself. It started with winning the Chaos Championship. And it continues with proving myself against one of the best to ever do it. I mentioned before that this is a must-win scenario for me and I believe that. I also believe that it’s a must-win scenario for Alan as well. He’s coming off a massive victory over the winner of the Global Challenge and if he loses to someone he’s already beaten, that sets a bad precedent as well.
The thing is, we can’t both win next week.
Mr. Wallace, I think that you and I are both looking forward to this match.
The only thing I ask of you is to leave your pet Joseph at home.
No matter our feelings for each other, I hope that this match can start with a handshake before we punch each other’s faces off.
