“I’m going to kill that Penguin! Messing with trained professionals is one thing, but forcing an elderly man to get in the ring with a washed out has been like Travis Roberts is another. I’m going to make that Penguin pay at the first available opportunity” said The Global heavyweight Champion as he stood silhouetted in the frame of the door to his private dressing room, Global heavyweight Championship draped across his arm..
He makes his way into the room and looks towards Yasutoki Kiseragi, who is being tended to by a medical professional.
“It’s has nothing to do with Boss Penguin, I made the decision to step into a GIW ring, and I must live with consequences. That, my son, is what honour is all about” his father responded plainly.
“Honour?....HONOUR!?! Take a look around you father, the concept of honour is antiquated in Global Impact Wrestling. What use is honour against those who have no respect for anything? What good is honour to those that only understand the language of pain and humilitation?” Alex’s face is glowing a deep red now as he struggles to maintain his composure and not raise his voice in front of his father.
“I am disappointed” his father said whilst shaking his head. He then motions for the medical practitioner to leave him and his son alone. Once the nurse has left he continues. “I am disappointed with your attitude Alex. You are a Kiseragi, honour is the most valuable thing to us, it cannot just be traded for success or safety, it must always be fought for and upheld. I was so proud when you stood atop that triple cage and claimed the Global Heavyweight Championship, because I believed you would fight to bring honour back to your workplace...”
“And that’s what I have tried to do, have you seen me Yari Kick a member of Travis Roberts or Randy Boolzians family recently? No. Because my fight is with them, not their families. They showed me, their Global Heavyweight Champion, absolutely no respect tonight...” Alex decides to slump down in the armchair opposite his father, and leans forwards towards his origins, before continuing. “Randy Boolzian had a week to get himself out of that match, but was perfectly content with the prospect of hurting you this week, and Travis Roberts, that man is just pure scum, simply an opportunist who will do anything to get attention. Since I have been Champion I have valiantly fought to turn GIW into a more honourable place, and have done nothing but respect my position as top of the pile.”
“But what respect have you shown me?” Yasutoki chooses to stand and pace around the room, never taking his eyes off of his young son. “Your father made a decision, a decision to uphold the honour of our family by facing Randy Boolzian. I am not as old, or as out of touch as you may think, and I’m certainly not going senile, I knew what lay before me, I knew what my future held, nothing but stinging pain at the hands of your opponent. But I was willing to take that punishment, to prove to the world there is more to the Kiseragi’s than Calvin Klein underwear and homophobic jokes, that we fight with honour and without fear, that we embrace life and what is to come with eagerness and anticipation”
“Did you seriously think I was going to let you go ahead with such a ridiculous plan? Why would I let my own father step in the ring with not just one of my opponents, but another acting as referee?” Alex looks up towards his father’s face and locks him dead in the eyes. “I did what ANY son would have done!”
“No...no...a good son would have respected his father’s need for this, a good son would certainly not have attacked a man, not only stopping the chance of any Honour Duel, but also highlighting to the world how much your honour has been compromised by this company and profession” The elder of the two Kiseragi’s looks down at his seated son, with a look that only parents can give children, and Alex looks away sheepishly.
“Ok, I admit maybe I didn’t go about things the right way. I don’t know what came over me father, something just consumed me when I saw Randy. I just meant to speak to him face to face, give him a chance to do the right thing and pull out of the match, but something inside me just wouldn’t stay calm, and from nowhere, almost without thinking I was upon him.” Alex looks back into his father eyes. “You have to believe I never intended to go at him in such a dishonourable way”
Yasutoki sits down opposite his son, and looks into his eyes before speaking six words “Why do you think you did?”
“I don’t know, the past few weeks have almost been a blur. It seems like the moment I climbed down from that Cage the whole world has changed. Newspaper articles have been written about me, challenging my very nature, I’ve been forced to reveal myself for advertising campaigns, half of the company I work for has accused me of being homosexual on frequent occasions, Travis Roberts accused me of being more boring than a turnbuckle, and then to top it all off Randy Boolzian was about to beat my father to within an inch of his life, I guess I just snapped...”Alex looks towards his father, who tilts his head at the display of honesty from his son, but soon a frown crosses his face.
“But my son, how could you not see this coming? I am new to this industry, but the moment you came down from that Triple Cage, I knew your life had changed and you would have the biggest hurdles of your life to overcome, you have had a target on your back since Distant Whispers...I trusted you would be prepared for the pressure, without resorting to dishonourable behaviour, that you would be able to grow and shine, without lowering yourself to the levels of those around you” Yasutoki shakes his head from side to side slowly “but I was wrong.”
“So I was just meant to stand by and watch you take a beating?”
“It happened anyway didn’t it?”
“At least I tried to stop it!”
“And in doing so got me into a match with an opponent I was totally unprepared for. You didn’t think it through. As usual you got an idea in your head and just went for it, without considering the bigger picture”
“There was nothing to think through, I’m not going to let them use my family to play psychological games with me, it’s just wrong!”
“The moment you decided you wanted to reach the big time, me, and your mother for as well, became viable targets for your enemies, we became ‘fair game’...surely you realised this?”
“I just wish you’d never got yourself involved...”
“And where would you be right now? Hmmm?”
“Look it’s not the fact that I don’t appreciate your help, but I don’t want to be the reason for you getting injured, or even worse disabled. This is a dangerous world father, and I’m not sure I want to risk you getting hurt again. The only person I can recall who has taken two White Out’s in the space of a month was Savage, and look what happened to him, he’s only allowed out of the home for an hour a day with an army of carers...I don’t want that happening to you, I couldn’t forgive myself if it did” It almost seems as if A-Kis is losing his composure, his hands are shaking and his eyes seem red and puffy. The emotional nature of this conversation clearly overcoming him.
“I can take care of myself, thank you very much! I don’t need you watching over me like a bed ridden invalid.” Yasutoki stands up with an air of indignation...
“Now you’re just being a stubborn old man, and your letting your pride get in the way of your better judgement!” Alex’s voice now seems to be trembling from the high emotions that spin through the room.
“Is that so?” Yasutoki starts to walk towards the door, he places his hand on the handle, then turns to Alex. “Well my better judgement is telling me that your mother will probably appreciate my efforts more than you. You know where I’ll be...” And with that Kiseragi Senior opens the door and strides out of the Global Heavyweight Champions locker room.

Friday
The camera pans round a quickly filling hall, as fans of all ages wearing GIW merchandise wuickly take their seats in front of a long table that stretches out across the front of the room. They excitedly speak amongst themselves, but an excited hush quickly overcomes them as GIW Ring Announcer, Mitchell Dennis walks onto the stage with a microphone which he raises to his lips.
“Ladies and Gentlemen, boys and girls, welcome to the GIW Horizons Fan Festival Main Event meet and greet. Over the next hour each of the competitors in the main event at Horizons will come out to answer your questions and sign some photos. First to appear will be The Hardcore Champion Randy Boolzian, followed by the TWiSTeD Fight Club Unified Champion Travis Roberts, and finally the GIW Global Heavyweight Champion, Alex Kiseragi. Without further adieu, let’s get this event underway. Introducing RAAAAAAANDY BOOOOOOOOOLZIAN.”
The Red Bull Icon walks onto the stage, carrying a four pack of his favourite beverage, looking less than enthused about the amassed ranks of fans and the occasional journalist. He sits down and almost immediately someone shouts out a question.
“What do you think of Alex Kiseragi?”
A smile creeps across Randy’s face, he cracks open his can takes a long, thirst quenching, swig, and then leans across the table.
“I think he’s playing outside of his league. I think he got lucky cause Daddy saved him 6 weeks ago, and he’s managed to mistake luck for skill. Deep down though, he’s gotta realise, he’s lost to me on numerous occasions, and it’s not going to be any different come tomorrow. Even if he manages to attack me from behind again, ‘The Dragon’ won’t be saved by his father, or even Boss P, and certainly not Travis Roberts. He’s going to lose, and that’s about all I think about Alex Kiseragi, he’s a non-entity in this...”
Our scene cuts backstage where we see the Global Heavyweight Champion watching proceedings on a small monitor, his agent Vince stands beside him.
“That guy is setting himself up for a huge fall. It amazes me how many people underestimate my client?” he says whilst Alex’s eyes remain locked on the screen.
“Do they?”
“Of course they do, no-one gave you a chance at Battlegrounds yet you came within inches of winning the most gruelling match in GIW history, then merely a month later you once again dispelled their disparaging remarks and views of you by claiming the most coveted title in the Industry today!”
“Yet they still speak of me as if I’m some unskilled rookie fresh out of boot camp!”
“Sure they do, in public! Because these guys know that’s their only advantage over you. In the ring they don’t stand a chance, but as long as you continue to restrain yourself when speaking in public, in that arena at least they will always have the upper hand.”
“So, I should lower myself to their level, and start weaving lies and disrespectful insults, just to look better than them” Alex takes his attention away from the monitor and locks eyes with his agent.
“No, there’s no need to go to their level, just tell the world and the fans the truth, let them see how intelligent, charismatic and well spoken you are. Let them see that you are not afraid of revealing the true nature of your opponents” Vince’s eyes plead with Alex, who turns away and fixes his gaze on the screen once more.
“I have enough respect for the fans to know they don’t need me to spell out the deficiencies of the likes of Randy Boolzian or Travis Roberts. It should be clear to anyone that our once beloved Red Bull icon has lost his composure. This was once a man who no matter how hard anyone tried, would never resort to bad mouthing his opponents in public, let alone look forward to matches with their parents. That’s why I used to respect Boolz, and I’m pretty sure that’s why the fans loved him too. But that man” Alex points at Randy Boolzians smugly grinning face on the TV. “is not the same man they adored. We have finally seen Randy Boolzian reveal his dark and twisted insides that he’d done so well to keep from exposing until now.”
“But Alex, the truth is, not all the fans are that observant or even particularly good judges of character. The high numbers of Sean Jensen merchandise that have been sold prove this. Sadly some of these guys just root for the guys with the funniest catchphrases and rebuttals, despite their morale integrity.”
“Should I really be courting their support then? Should I sell out, and abandon those that have followed and supported my career because of who I am, and what I do?”
“Do you want to stay at the top?”
“Of course I do! What kind of a question is that, and more to the point I deserve[/b] to stay here. I’m far more suitable for the position than that immoral, hedonistic, untrustworthy trailer park mistake that’s addressing the fans now”
“Then why not tell them that?” Vince implored, with a look of quiet desperation slowly filling his features.
“Because if they don’t realise that already....are they really worth the effort?”
The two men then continue to watch the events onscreen in silence, as Boolz fields questions from fans regarding Mary-Joanna, his Childhood and his love of Red Bull. He finally signs a few photos, and then heads backstage as Mitchell Dennis announces the arrival of Travis Roberts who walks out on stage, and grabs the microphone and begins to speak.
“The Blessed One made it quite clear last week that he would no longer be fielding any questions from the press. Unfortunately for the true fans here today, Boss penguin has allowed many members of the media into this room, therefore Travis Roberts will merely be making a brief statement.”
Vince turns to Alex and speaks for the first time in many minutes.
“When is anything that guys ever says brief, huh?”
Alex merely raises his hand and keeps his eyes focused on the screen as ‘The Headliner’ continues.
“In just over 24 hours, ‘The Blessed One’ will unify the TWiSTeD Fight Club, Hardcore and Global Heavyweight Championships, and the ‘TWiSTeD Icon’ is sure you want to know what kind of honour that would be for him. The truth is, there is no honour in the TFC or Hardcore Titles, both have been devoid of any meaning for a long time now. TFC is dead, and will never ride high again, and The Hardcore Title lost any air of credibility the moment Chris Austin got his semen coated hands upon it. At Horizons, ‘The TWiSTeD Guerrilla’ will be fighting not for honour, or glory, but for the conservation of a title that means so much. A title that once was held by ‘The Heart and Soul of GIW, that was desecrated by champion after champion, until ‘The Blessed One’ was finally able to restore some element of prestige to it.
But as well all know, things went horribly wrong, and after only a month, the title was wrenched from ‘The Headliners’ grip by the geriatric hands of fate. Since that time, GIW has been living in the shadow of an oncoming dark age, and Travis Roberts alone will stand and fend off the darkness at Horizons. I the likes of Randy Boolzian were ever to hold such a prestigious title, undoubtedly our company would fall from its current lofty perch in a matter of weeks. A man so consumed by his need to emulate ‘the Blessed One’, a man trying to attain the impossible task of equalling Travis Roberts’ stature and legacy, would only lead this company into oblivion. Especially given the past six weeks of rudderless drifting this fine company has undergone, a demented zoo animal replacing the intellectual goliath that is Declan Prescott, and the introduction of a Global Heavyweight Champion with the ability to garner excitement from licking varnish straight from the tin, have brought us to a precarious point in GIW’s existence. If ‘The Blessed One’ does not emerge victorious from the Cell, the future of GIW will indeed be bleak.”
Alex looks at the screen intensely, as Vince looks on at him, hopefully, he then speaks to his client.
“After all those two guys have said, what are you gonna do? You gonna let the world know what you really think of them, are you going to cast aside those outdated principles your father has tried to beat into you over the years? Or are you just gonna let them say what the hell ever they like about you? It’s your choice kid...”
Alex looks at Vince, and then glances at each of his own shoulders, before looking his agent straight in the eyes...
“Yeah...that’s right...it’s my choice, it’s all down to me”
“I’m going to kill that Penguin!
