Recently I spent alot of time playing UFC 2010. Then I've taken a break recently to play DLC packs for Mass Effect 2 and am almost finished with a second play through of Dragon Age: Origins.

Working on heavy Rain and Alpha Protocol right now with a little bit of Rock band 2 thrown in here and there while counting down the days to Medal of Honor and Rock Band 3.

Alpha Protocol is good but I couldnt finish it. Another goodie is Overlord 2. Funny as hell but for some reason I wasnt able to finish it. I cant wait for Batman Arkham City. If its even half as good as Arkham Asylum then only LA Noir can beat it.

So, I just got Dead Rising 2 yesterday, and I've been waiting for this game for like a year. Now I'm not sure how graphically accomplished it is, thats not the sort of stuff I care about, but it's a HELL of a lot of fun.
I never got to play the first Dead Rising much as I never owned an Xbox, although a friend did. It was instantly a game I loved playing. I've been a fan of the Romero zombies films and other for ages, and this game was like some kind of nightmare come true. I never bothered to play any missions, just ran around the mall massacring Zombies.
My early impression is this follow up takes the good stuff and builds on it. In the first the variety of weapons and zombie kills was impressive and enjoyable, but in Number 2 they have upped their game. Now in addition to the multidue of weapons from silly to insane, you can 'combine' many of them together. Thus far I have created a pair of MMA Gloves combined with a box of nails for a kind of lethal hedgehog glove, a baseball bat with nails in, a bucket with drills in that you can slam onto a zombies head.
The pure amount of different ways to kill the undead is joyfull. My favourite kill so far was with a combo weapon. After combining a tank of propane with a box of nails, I slammed the offending object on top of a blissfully ignorant Zombie. I then climbed up high, and watched a crowd of zombies gather, before shooting the propane tank and watching many body parts fly across the room. A nice side bit of this was the use of firecrackers which I threw at the propane carrying zombie, which drew the attention of the others, like lambs to the slaughter.
A complaint I heard from people who played the previous game regarded the AI of the Survivors you rescue throughout the game, they seemed all to willing to rush to the embraces of the infected. This seems to be a lot better, as so far in my experience they dodge, and will even fight if necessary. But their adeptness at fighting depends on their character, a short sighted little old lady is, indeed, still a pain to rescue.
You can also join a friend or a strangers game and help their missions in a co-op online mode. Which I have not tried yet, but should be fun.
Finally I am also a big fan of the way they have done online multiplayer. In the story of the game, the Zombie Outbreak has obviously been going for a while and the Government and Civilisation has adapted, built walled cities, even developed a drug to combat the affects of a Zombie bite if caught early.
Anyway, in this reality their is a game show called 'Terror is Reality' which is pretty much like Gladiators, but instead of having roided up gladiators, they have zombies. You compete with four other players over four rounds. The first three are randomly sleected out of a pool of six or seven. The games are pretty 'partyish' but do prove to be fun. The final round see's you all strapped to motorcycles with blades on the end in a huge speedway style bowl, filled with Zombies.
It's a unique spin on the online competitive multiplayer angle, and even if you lose you earn cash, in ranked matches, which you can spend in the game, so even if you suck it's well worth going online. I've actually won three matches out of 7, which for me is gob smacking, but even if I lost it would have been fun anyway.
So yeah, as ya can probably tell, am LOVING this game right now. And if you are a fan of Zombie movies it's a must buy, even if just to ignore the missions and spend hours just massacring brain munchers.

Guess I'll be adding Dead Rising 2 to my list of games to rent at the video store this weekend. The other two would be H.A.W.X 2(if they finally have it in) and probably Green Day Rock Band or something like that.

Finished Halo Reach today. I have to say, this one is a contender for most overrated game ever. I know pretty much all Halo games are overrated, but this was just so damn mediocre. It just seemed like a poor man’s version of Halo 3 (a game which I thought was awesome and still play frequently). With the exception of one level in space, there was nothing even remotely original in Reach. And the epic factor from 3 was certainly toned down. No massive vehicle fleet battles here, again with the exception of the space level.
And the story was just lolarious. It’s basically just a series of you fighting through a hundred aliens in order to launch a crippling blow against The Covenant’s assault, only for your enemies to bust out an even bigger weapon two seconds later and shit all over everything you just spent the last 1-2 hours building towards. If you went into the game with no history of Halo or Reach, after the first handful of cut scenes you would be more than aware of how fucked humanity is. And I know that’s the point of the tale being told, but instead of coming across as a valiant last stand, it just feels like a waste of time. I don’t know how many times throughout the game I asked myself ‘why the fuck are we doing this?’
The fact the game tries to be so emotional is awesome for all the wrong reasons. By the end we (there were two of us playing) were openly laughing at the supposedly heart wrenching death scenes. The one where the dude crashes a plane, killing himself, when he could have easily just jumped out and let the plane crash without him was particularly amusing. Its like a parody of what a war story should be.
Overall, I’m glad Bungie is moving onto other things. The series seems to have only declined further and further in quality since Halo 3. Perhaps some new minds working on the franchise can make a game that is worth playing.
20/10/2010 The day open mindedness returned to UGWC. Lest we forget.
I've been playing the Godfather 2 as of late bad as game as well as Smackdown Vs. Raw08 for 10 just blew it for me and I won't have to play 08 much longer seeing how SVR11 is the game I'll be playing from here on out once I get it, along with Godfather 2 lol.
