Biography:
Derick is a very down-to-earth kind of guy. He has a strong set of morals that he follows through no matter what. He vows to take a "Steamboat" way of wrestling and remain babyface throughout his entire career just because he doesn't have the ability to be a "bad guy". Derick follows a straight edge lifestyle yet doesn't look down upon those who don't and still enjoys having fun at parties and clubs, stating that he would like to remember the good time he had. Born in Newark, raised in Irvington and spent most of his life in Metuchen, he is a Jersey boy, through and through. Most of his life, Derick has been told that he couldn't do something because he was too small or to weak. Being the youngest son, of two Haitian parents and diagnosed with sickle cell, he was sheltered throughout his childhood. His parents enforced a strict sense of manners on him and his lifestyle is owed to them just because he felt like indulging in alcohol and drugs would throw away everything his parents wished of him and he greatly respected them, thus respected everyone around him. But they never wanted him to go outside and play, they rather him stay inside and just watch television.
Besides the typical cartoons every kid watches, one thing in particular that Derick loved watching was wrestling. He stayed a loyal pro wrestling fan and always dreamt of being a wrestler, idolizing the likes of Shawn Michaels, Bret Hart, Ricky "the Dragon" Steamboat, and Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka. Derick would meet his best friend and soon-to-be tag team partner, David Lopes in middle school once he moved to Metuchen. Once getting to know each other, they found out that that both were born in Newark, moved (Derick to Irvinton, David to Livingston), then moved again to Metuchen. The boys also shared a passion for pro wrestling.
Once Derick was in high school, he took the initiative, and the one and only time he disobeyed his parents wishes, he joined the wrestling team, while David became a Varsity soccer player where he earned his nickname "Hitman". Despite his lack of physical activity as a child, Derick was a natural on the mat. He studied the art to a perfection and knew how to counter every amateur wrestling move in the book. Derick would always spar with David as David wanted to know how to wrestle too, but felt uncomfortable about the idea of wearing a singlet.
After Derick realized his potential, and dreaming of mastering the luchador style, he moved to Mexico representing his Haitian heritage and wrestling in blue and red attire under the monicker the "Haitian Kid". Again mastering the style, Derick brought his style home where he met up with David to discovery he had taken up pro wrestling in New Jersey's indie circuit. Derick continued to wrestle under his "Haitian Kid" gimmick but under his real name.
Blown away by his explosive style of amateur and lucha libre, announcers would call him "Dynamite". The name stuck and he would team with David as David's brawling showman style combined with Derick's high-flying technical style, made them a formidable team. They would throw back to their Newark roots and called themselves the Brick City Boyz. The two would tend to learn from each other as Derick took a little showmanship from David while David took to the air like Derick. Derick would sign a deal with Lock Wrestling Federation and enjoyed singles success but David, under Hitman Lopes, wasn't far behind as they reformed the Brick City Boyz and dominated the tag team division till its very end. Now they both appear in the new United Global Wrestling Coalition hoping to make a bigger impact.
