We open with a wide shot of the inside of Madison Square Garden. The camera switches to long moving shots of the rapid crowds. We see the entrance ramp, lit up by an amazing show of lights and fireworks. All the while The End Is The Beginning Is The End plays in the background. The shot finally settles on the three men sat behind the announcers table.
Vinegar: Ladies and Gentlemen! We are live from the famous Madison Square Garden Stadium in New York City! This is UGWC Horizons!
Lieberjosch: I know we’re in New York and everything but what really makes this any different from the usual garbage of Synergy?
Jay: Dragooooooooooon!!!
Vinegar: Can you knock of the grumpy jackass routine for one night. It’s Horizons. It’s the biggest night of the year and the first one under the UGWC Banner. It’s a historic night filled with potentially momentous matches.
Lieberjosch: It looks like a lot of garbage wrestling to me.
Vinegar: Are you kidding? We’re going to see three UGWC titles on the line. Three men’s careers in this company are on the line. Someone is going to earn enough purse money for a World Heavyweight title shot anytime they like in the return of the Carnage match.
Lieberjosch: Carnage match? Well when you put it like that I retract my comments about garbage wrestling entirely.
Jay: Dragoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooon!!!
Vinegar: And I think what Jay wants me to acknowledge is that we’re going to see Alex Kiseragi’s name, something he feels is intrinsically linked to his soul as a wrestler on the line in a Falls Count Anywhere match against Marek Daisuke. And that’s just our opening contest! And with that-
You Know My Name starts to play and Travis Pierce walks out, dressed in classic referee attire.
Dennis: Ladies and Gentlemen, this is your UGWC Horizons 2010 Opening Contest. This is a Falls Count Anywhere match! Introducing your special guest referee for this match! Travis Pieeeerce!!!
Vinegar: Travis Pierce has a lot of history with Alex Kiseragi stemming from their title Unification match back at No Holds Barred. They still have a score to settle. It’ll be interesting to see if that effects anything as this match goes on.
Pierce climbs up the steps and into the ring waiting for the competitors to show up.
The lights in the arena dim and the big screen lights up with a scene from the movie ‘Superbad’. The character played by Seth Rogen is bent over, hands on his knee’s breathing hard and you hear him say the words, ‘He’s the fastest kid alive’. The screen goes black then we see Marek run from under the big screen. He jumps into the air, grabbing onto the frame, swinging forward into a back flip and as he lands pyro goes off and ‘You’re The Best’ by Joe Esposito begins to play.
Dennis: Introducing first! From Ishikawa, Japan! Weighing in at 175lbs! He is the Human Missile! The Dragon-God! Marek Daisuuuuuuke!!!
Vinegar: You heard Mitchell Dennis there refer to Marek Daisuke as the Dragon God and that’s really what brought this match about.
Jay: False Idol!
Vinegar: Marek Daisuke betrayed his old friend Alex Kiseragi shortly after Outlast and by calling himself the Dragon God, even going so far as to have it tattooed on his arm he made a brash and disrespectful challenge to the Dragon. That’s all going to end tonight though.
Marek rolls forward from the landing and continues down the ramp. He stops at the bottom and puts his hands on his hips, relishing in the reaction from the audience. He then jumps from the ground, grabbing onto the top rope and vaults into the ring without even touching the apron. He stands on the turnbuckle and puts his arms outward, again relishing in the crowd reaction. He jumps down and stretches in his corner.
Lieberjosch: This is really all very pathetic. A name is just a name. It’s hardly worth these two beating who knows how many shades of shit out of each over.
Vinegar: They seem to disagree.
Teahouse starts to play to a great ovation from the crowd. Alex Kiseragi walks out onto the top of the ramp. He smiles and throws his trademark combo of two right high kicks, each accompanied by a small pyro before a split legged back flip with a larger pyro.
Dennis: And his opponent! From San Francisco, California! Weighing in at 205lbs! The Dragoooooooon! Alex Kiseragiiiiiiii!!!
Jay: Dragoooooooooon!!!
Lieberjosch: Will you knock that off. You’ve done it three times already and we’re not on the first match yet.
Alex’s approach to the ring is sterner than usual. He slaps outstretched hands but almost absently. His eyes are fixed on Marek; he points to him and makes a cutting gesture across his throat before jumping into his trademark ring entrance between the bottom and middle ropes. He rolls to his feet face to face with Marek.
Vinegar: These have been waiting for this show down for a long time. I don’t think they want to wait any longer. Travis Pierce calls for the bell.
Ding! Ding!
Vinegar: Here we go! This match and Horizons 2010 are underway!
Alex and Marek lock up in the middle of the ring. Alex quickly shifts into a headlock and a hip throw. Marek counters with a head scissor but Alex kips up out of it. They each get to their feet and tie up again. Alex turns this one into an arm wringer.
Vinegar: Technical chain wrestling to begin with here. You happy Hans?
Lieberjosch: I know it won’t last. If anything it just makes it worse.
Marek rolls forward onto his back to release the pressure but before he can kip up Alex steps on his chest.
Vinegar: It may be technical but there’s a vicious streak here. Alex just stomped down hard on Marek’s chest. That’ll knock the wind out of you.
Marek rolls away and as Alex makes to pull him back to his feet Marek kicks him in the knee.
Vinegar: That ones going to hurt and may effect Alex’s offence in the long run.
Lieberjosch: That’s the problem with these wrestlers with their one dimensional offence. It’s too easy to shut down.
Vinegar: I don’t think either of these men can be accused of having a one dimensional offence.
Marek kips up to his feet this time. As Alex turns to react again Marek takes him down with an arm drag, followed by a kick to the back as Alex tries to roll through. Marek goes to follow up but Alex takes him over with his own arm drag and a kick.
Vinegar: These two are going move for move so far. No-one’s able to take an early advantage yet.
Marek gets back to his feet and the two lock up collar and elbow once again. This time Marek takes the advantage with an arm wringer, followed up with a trio of lightning fast kicks to the chest.
Lieberjosch: He’s giving Kiseragi a taste of his own medicine there. Those are faster than anything we’ve ever seen him throw.
Jay: The Dragon has the most powerful kicks, even if not the fastest. Deny the false idol!
Vinegar: Well those shots rocked Alex back to the ropes. Marek’s on him and sends him running with an Irish Whip. Takes him down on the rebound with a dropkick.
Lieberjosch: Looks like an advantage might be being forged.
Jay: No way!
Vinegar: Marek putting the boots to Alex now.
As Marek stomps down on Alex, Alex catches a leg and counters with a Dragon Screw.
Jay: Ninja Dragon Counter!
Alex gets back to his feet and runs to the ropes. He goes for a low dropkick on the rebound but Marek leaps from his hands and knees, over the sliding Alex.
Vinegar: Great display of acrobatics and agility by Daisuke there.
Lieberjosch: That’s not going to win him the match though. He needs to be doing damage.
Alex slides to the outside but before he can react.
Vinegar: Slingshot cross body to the outside! Connects! Marek just took Alex down hard on the outside of the ring.
Lieberjosch: You know just because falls count anywhere, doesn’t mean you have to purposefully take it out of the ring.
Marek gets up as Alex tries to do the same. Marek kicks him hard in the stomach, rolling Alex over. With his head braced against the crowd barriers, Marek chokes Alex with his foot.
Vinegar: It’s all legal in this match but that choke is still down right dirty.
Lieberjosch: Who’re you going to cry to? Alex chose this stipulation himself. If he can’t deal with it he has no-one to blame. Pierce certainly doesn’t seem to care either.
Jay: The Dragooooooooooooon, can deal with much more than this weak ass Falls Count Anywhere.
Vinegar: Marek’s released the hold and he’s going under the ring. What’s he going to pull out?
Marek returns with a short wooden stick in each hand.
Lieberjosch: Wow…sticks.
Jay: Not just any sticks. Those are Kali sticks, used in Escrima, a Filipino martial art.
Vinegar: Marek’s known to be a well travelled martial artist.
Marek brings a stick down across Alex’s chest, then a second time, then a third.
Vinegar: Marek simply brutalising Alex with those stick shots.
Jay: The one true Dragon is fighting through it though. He’s getting some space and fighting back to his feet.
Vinegar: He’s struggling though as Marek strikes at Alex’s legs.
As Vinegar speaks, Alex jumps over a low stick strike. Marek comes back with a high shot aimed for Alex’s jaw but Kiseragi counters with a spinning leg sweep that puts Marek on the ground.
Jay: Fastest Kid Alive my ass!
Alex follows up with a left axe kick aimed at his grounded opponent. Marek rolls away and is forced to keep rolling as Alex moves seamlessly into a right axe kick. Marek throws a stick which hits Alex in the sternum and stops him for a moment.
Vinegar: I can’t believe what we’re seeing so far. This is turning into something out of a kung fu movie.
Marek gets back to his feet and swings his remaining stick at Alex who leans away from the first shot, ducks the back stroke then dodges aside a vertical blow to land a roundhouse kick to Marek’s body that throws him back.
Jay: See Hans! That’s Dragon power!
Vinegar: Alex starting to pull back some momentum. He’s got Marek rocked against the crowd barriers now.
Marek throws his second stick at Alex’s head but he blocks it with his arm.
Vinegar: Desperation move my Marek doesn’t pay off.
Lieberjosch: I don’t think it was intended to. Marek just needed to slow him down a moment so that he could-
Vinegar: Run away?
Lieberjosch: Apparently so.
Vinegar: Marek’s take a free moment to make a run for it and just set off up the entrance ramp.
Jay: False idol coward!
Vinegar: I don’t think Alex can believe it either. He looks frustrated and sets off after him. I have a feeling we’re going to have trouble following this one.
Jay: Covert Jay on the case.
Jay disappears in a puff of smoke.
Vinegar: For someone who lacks so many ninja skills, Jay’s pretty good with a smoke bomb. Travis Pierce has just come over here too.
Pierce: Give me a headset. You can’t let him commentate when you have the top chat show host in UGWC here.
Pierce grabs a headset from the desk and runs off after the others. Backstage, just behind the entrance ramp we see Alex burst through the curtain. Nobody is there. He makes to head further into the backstage area when Marek falls from the sky.
Jay: Don’t worry, Covert Jay saw it all. Marek managed to get up on some scaffolding back here and just took Alex down with a falling elbow strike.
Vinegar: Pictures are coming through clear now. Alex Kiseragi is down from that shot and Marek’s looking to follow up. He’s just picked up a trash can and slams it down on him.
Jay: The true Dragon showing great resilience though and still trying to push up to his feet.
Lieberjosch; I don’t know how much of it is resilience and how much is Marek’s lack of impact power.
Vinegar: Whose side are you even on?
Lieberjosch: No-one’s. Unlike you two I am a consummate professional.
Vinegar: Ladies and Gentlemen! We are live from the famous Madison Square Garden Stadium in New York City! This is UGWC Horizons!
Lieberjosch: I know we’re in New York and everything but what really makes this any different from the usual garbage of Synergy?
