Pyrotechnics explode, lights flash brightly, music plays and fans scream, it is, by all means the standard opening of any wrestling show.
Then we see Nicholas Vinegar, Hans Lieberjosch and Covert Jay sitting behind the announce table. They welcome us to the show, a few 'Huttah's' are thrown around, there is a brief run down of what can be expected to come on the show, and the obligatory bickering from the commentary team based on their respective heel/face bias.
Much is made of the Main Event of the night between Chris Peterson and Alex Kiseragi, and then some other events that have passed me by this week are discussed with vigour before the lights go out, Mitchell Dennis emerges from whatever pit he generally hides in between matches, and then he announces the start of the opening match which will be a six man tag.
Boy am I happy I warned you all I was only going to recap this, because believe me had I attempted to write something of the standard fare it would have sucked worse than a JK excuse for misreading.
For anyone that is unfamiliar with the way a wrestling show pans out, the following events are the entrances of the respective teams. Now I could, if I wanted, just cut and paste each entrance individually to bulk out this match, but that's just not the way I roll, instead you all get to bear witness to a constant stream of my consciousness.
Lucky you.
I'd like to think Freak Show Central entered the ring in perfect synchronisation whilst doing 'The Robot', because for self confessed 'freaks' I don't feel they do enough in the way of 'Zany', if you need some hints contact Jet, he has in the past been the king of that artform.
Then obviously Medos came and joined his partners for the match. Now during this the commentary team will have no doubt explained that there is actually subtext to this match, given both Medos and Fernandez were eliminated from the Battleground match by the hands of Rudo's Circle of Influence whilst he had a cup of tea if memory serves me. Vinegar thinks is abhorrent, Lieberjosch thinks it's justified and Covert jay thinks he's channelling the past life of a potato.
The Circle of Influence enter as a unit, as they make their way to the ring one can only wonder what someone on LSD would think if they tuned into UGWC on one of it's average nights? Seriously I've been real stoned and got freaked out by The Magic Roundabout, this shit could send someone over the edge.
Anyway, when all six men are in the ring, we get the obligatory pat down before the bell rings and the match gets underway.
As you can probably tell this won't be the most accurate description of what's going on in the ring, but Deimos starts it with Sir Roland, and the former World Champion dominates the early exchanges before a blind tag is made and Pierrot hits a lot of quick high flying moves before Medos is tagged in.
At this point I have to admit I got distracted from the match by a passing Moth, and it was a big bastard, size of a golf ball. Anyway I thought that Moth's were meant to be attracted to light. Unless there's something I haven't noticed about my current state, I do not illuminate anything. So why, WHY do these bowling ball sized winged beasts seem so determined to dive bomb me whilst I try to recap a match?
Anyway, to cut a long story short I have a dead moth just to the right of my keyboard now.
And in the match Sir Roland and Pierrot spend much of the match taking damage, but surviving, the skilled onslaught from the FSC and Medos, but at the opportune moment a blind tag is made and Prince Rudo swoops in and hits his finisher on Medos, gaining the win, at which point...
Freak Show Central help Medos to his and exit the ring as Rudo and Roland help their comrade to his feet after the pinfall. Suddenly, Ezekiel Pax and Marek Daisuke rush through the crowd and into the ring, both wield chairs. Ezekiel nails Rudo with the chair from behind as Marek nails Roland, knocking both me from the ring.
Vinegar: Once again, War & Peace get the better of Prince Rudo.
Covert Jay: I thought they were the Vicious Kind?
Lieberjosch: No, idiot. That’s the 2 of them collectively with JK. Just Marek and Zeke is War & Peace.
Vinegar: Thanks for the history lesson.
Ezekiel sets up his chair into the seated position as Marek lifts Pierrot to his feet. Ezekiel grabs the other chair and plasters Rudo’s jester directly in the kneecap. Marek backs up from Ezekiel and the two argue a bit. Ezekiel points at Pierrot and then points at the chair. Marek shakes his know and Ezekiel yells at him some more. Marek sighs and picks up Pierrot. Ezekiel and Marek hook Pierrot under the arms and flip him backward with the W.P. Deluxe, causing him to do a full backflip where his knees are driven into the chair.
Vinegar: Ezekiel’s issues are with Prince Rudo, not Pierrot. This is uncalled for.
Ezekiel holds the chair vertically on Pierrots knee and is about to drive it downward when Rudo and Roland slide back into the ring, driving away War & Peace. Roland tends to Pierrot, as Rudo looks up the ramp at Ezekiel who is slowly backing away.
Lieberjosch: What is he doing?
Covert Jay: I do believe that’s called a ‘golf clap’.
Rudo stands right up against the ropes and sarcastically claps at Ezekiel. As Ezekiel reaches the ramp, he looks into the camera that has followed him and we just make out him say 'That was for you, Somers.'
Vinegar: Things are definitely picking up between these two, folks.
Covert Jay: Next the inevitable return of the recap!
