Bio: What would go on to become the Piercing Media Network began as a small one-man web-show, the original version of The Piercing Truth, hosted by Travis Pierce. Following the destruction of the Piercing Truth set by Metalhead Matt Marauder, the show hit its lowest point in its broadcast history, as the entire "broadcast" became footage from a handheld camera that the unhinged Pierce talked into on his way to the ring.
The show relaunched once Pierce got the backing of the Dirty South Franchise, led by Darius Jermaine. Pierce gained a recurring guest host in former rival Chance Chesney, his tag team partner in the Franchise. While the Franchise itself would eventually be dismantled by Fear and his Lunatic Fringe, Pierce would go on to thrive on his own.
When Pierce came to UGWC, his hired former LWF backstage interviewer Rob Cartwright to produce his broadcast and oversee the expansion of his product. The first formal expansion of the growing Network came when Pierce joined Robert Ooley's Human Resources Department, with Gabrielle Motgomery and the Thames Valley Hit Squad becoming on-air personalities.
Alignment: Slightly mercurial, they tend to range from Face to Neutral, depending on the situation.
Bio: The Piercing Weapons got their start when Jet Somers surprised the world by aligning himself with Travis Pierce and the Human Resource Department in late 2011. The Talent vs Entertainment war came to an end when these two front line fighters decided that the future of the company wasn't in either camp, but in a union of the two.
In early 2012, the Piercing Weapons hit their stride after breaking away from Robert Ooley, and began a campaign which would reinvent the Cooperative division in UGWC. Their multiple reigns and defenses would eventually shatter the record of their former associates, the Thames Valley Hit Squad, with a current standing at 520 days.
Travis Pierce diligently worked at turning Jet Somers into a more marketable player, and together they built the Piercing Media Network from a two show studio, to a multinational media conglomerate that would eventually come to be home to multiple entertainment professionals and UGWC personalities.
Despite some cutthroat schemes and questionable marketing strategies, The Piercing Weapons endure as fan favorites, sometimes even pushing the envelope on the fans' loyalty, which seems to never falter.
Team Personality: Travis Pierce and Jet Somers are the consummate oddball team. Over the years, the athletic Jet has picked up the charismatic Travis's ability to manipulate through speech and flare, while The Icon has become more and more dangerous in the ring, his intensity mirroring, and sometimes rivaling Opie's.
Noteworthy is that, while doubtlessly the most successful, they are seemingly mismatched as a team. Even the name "The Piercing Weapons" was originally a throw away joke; they didn't even have a team entrance until late 2013 (and some might argue that this is due to the influence of Eden Morgan). You won't find double team maneuvers, they don't often train together, and each tends to work independently of the other unless a special event is taking place. The factor that seems to carry them beyond the ilk of most tag teams is their unshakable trust in one another. If the out man reaches for the tag, the in man doesn't hesitate to reach out for it, even if he feels he can go on. If one partner is setting up a high risk, almost suicidal move (in the ring, or in the studio), the other pulls out the stops to help make it happen. They rarely question one another, and each person fully supports the decisions of the other.
This isn't to say they don't consult one another, in fact, their most rousing successes come when they actually put their heads together. The Score, the feud with The Devil's Most Wanted, The Stars of Tomorrow, Remi Monroe, the reemergence of UGWC, and even the recent unveiling of the brand new state of the art Los Angeles based headquarters, were all the result of long hours in front of a whiteboard, with both men pouring over an idea.
Many times has the establishment attempted to recreate the success of these two opposites, but The Piercing Weapons are unique, and their chemistry cannot be imitated.
Entrance Music: “Tired” by Stone Sour
Entrance: "Tired" by Stone Sour begins to sound out over the arena as everything falls to black except for the myriad of white spotlights playing out over the crowd. As Corey Taylor yells "I'm alive in here!" the two brightest spotlights suddenly rush to opposite ends of the arena, halfway up to the nosebleed sections. At the top of each stands a member of The Piercing Weapons, Travis Pierce and Jet Somers. The Piercing Weapons begin making their way down through the crowds, receiving slaps on the back and handshakes from the appreciative fans. Somers and Pierce reach the security barriers at the same time, just as the chorus ends, and each leaps the barrier, then heads toward the ringsteps on either side of the ring. The team climbs the steps and simultaneously enter the ring. The Piercing Weapons then walk the few short steps to the center to shake hands. They separate, then cross, and each goes to the side of the ring opposite from where he entered. Both men stop at the ropes in unison, taking a long moment to look out over the crowd, then slowly each raises their hands as if to embrace the entire crowd, which of course goes crazy.
