A gritty reel of images flashes by on the screen to the haunting backdrop of Blue Oyster Cult's "Don't Fear the Reaper." We see a lot of unsavory types in this reel. Bikers with hundreds of tattoos displayed brashly and proudly. Bloodshot eyes and poison-stained teeth trade seedy glances in various dives. The whole time, every scene is draped in an ever-thickening cloud of choking smog that can only be reeking cigar and cigarette smoke.
The classic anthem begins to be interrupted, as do the images, with the intermittant opening of the Godsmack multipurpose "I Stand Alone." Crisper images show a 5' 10" bundle of muscles with big ears and a goofy grin, Harry Potter hair, and two championship belts. Some of the shots are of MMA fighter Jet Somers training, some are promotional posing shots, and still others are stock footage of his bouts in Fighting Spirit, the Japanese MMA brand he has been fighting for over the past year. As the dirty bar/biker images are completely replaced by Somers, a goofy Mississippi accent begins a voiceover.
"22 fights. 16-6 record. Three Fight of the Night honors. Two time Fighting Spirit Light Heavyweight Champion."
Cut to a shot of Jet Somers standing inside an empty gym smiling for the camera as the music fades to a background buzz.
"I've gotten a lot out of my body over the last five years," he explains just before a clip of a double black-eyed Somers submitting an opponent with a rear naked choke flashes by. "It's a punishing profession, but I've succeeded because of how much I haven't put into my body."
Another quick gritty reel, this time of a college girl with a tramp stamp popping a squat in some inner city diner's parking lot before falling over into her own mess, eyes rolled up into her head.
"Don't let anyone fool you. Nicotine and alcohol are drugs too, and abusing them is about as healthy as stepping into the ring way out of your division," the Wild Card is interrupted again by a clip of himself KO'ing Frank Savage in 2004 at the 0:15 mark. When it cuts back, the goofy grin is gone, and is replaced by a grim stare. "Only you can't so easily recover from the injuries of drug abuse."
The background music dies as a flatline runs across the scene as Jet Somers and his stare fade into a slow motion clip of a stretcher being loaded into an ambulance. This last gritty reel fades to black and stark white words come up:
"Athletes for Drug Abuse Awareness"
