Lord Hastings sits on a grassy hill, overlooking a forest. It is early evening, and a breeze blows through. Donovan stares with a troubled expression on his face towards the sunset, his gaze fixed, his eyes appearing almost glazed over. Calypso approaches from behind.
Calpyso: Hey.
Donovan does not respond. He is lost in his thoughts.
Calypso: Mind if I sit?
He continues to ignore her. She sighes and sits down next him. She looks at him, but he has not so much as twitched.
Calypso: You've been quiet all week.
Calypso puts her hand on his shoulder, but he shrugs her off. Calpyso pulls back, a stunned look on her face.
Calpyso: Excuse you? What is your problem?
Donovan continuse to ignore her. She gets up angrilly and takes several steps away.
Calypso: You know, you're not the only one that had a rough night at Toxic Intent. I didn't get what I wanted either. I should think we would be able to find solace in each other.
She starts to leave.
Hastings: Twice.
Calypso stops and looks back over her shoulder.
Calypso: Excuse me?
Hastings: Twice I have had to endure defeat at the hands of a neanderthal. Twice I have had to suffer that indignity. I came here to be an object of worship, the stuff of legends. Instead I have to stand aside for the glory of idiocy.
Donovan spits. Calypso stares at the ground for a moment, and then walks back and sits down next to him, putting her arm around him.
Calpyso: You used to tell me that Rome wasn't built in a day. This is just a beginning, for both of us.
After a moment Donovan slowly nods his head.
Calypso: Perhaps if I prepared a charm that-
Donovan looks sharply at her, and she hesitates.
Calypso: I'm just saying, we knew this was a long road when we started walking on it.
Hastings: Yes, yes, you're right. Thank you.
He kisses her on the forehead, and Calypso smiles with her eyes closed. Donovan stands up, and Calypso looks up at him as he continues to stare into the sunset.
Hastings: This isn't over. On Sentinel, I am participating in a six man tag. Chris Austen will indeed face my wrath.
Hastings spits again, but the wind has picked up and blows it into Calypso's arm. She stares at the gob in disgust, and as Donovan continues to talk she wipes it away.
Hastings: I will crush Austen, break his will and shatter his resolve, until he is lying at my feet.
He looks down at Calypso with a smile. She looks up and smiles back at him.
Hastings: It is inevitable.
Fade out...
