SCENE 1 Doubt Seeping Through (08-20-18)
The scene opens up backstage of the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul Minnesota. Walking down the hall is Annie “Midnight” Fugate. She has on black jeans and a plain black shirt. She looks over some paperwork in her hand as she reaches a locker room. She goes to open the door when she hears a voice on the other side. A familiar one.
{Elizabeth Blackwell}
Don’t get me wrong, I’m really grateful for everything she has done for me. But i am starting to have my doubts.
Annie wants to burst in the door but she hesitates. She cracks the door slightly so she can hear better.
{Elizabeth Blackwell}
She was a great champion in High Stakes Wrestling. But she doesn’t even really pay much attention to her own ring career anymore. I mean she has only had one match here and she lost. She lost to Venus. She says it was because she didn’t care about the match and the Boss Penguin threw her off, but I’m just not sure. She’s a great coach but I feel her in ring days are probably behind her. I’m surprised she signed up for Chill. She will probably half ass the match and lose again. Then try and turn it into some kind of lesson for me.
Annie slowly closes the door. She sneers as she walks off, punching the wall. So Elizabeth is doubting her. Doesn’t think that she can cut it anymore. Annie stops walking and leans back against the wall.
{Annie “Midnight” Fugate}
I am a champion. I’m the HSW Women’s champion even if it closed down. How dare she doubt me. She’s lucky she didn’t sign up for Chill or I’d give her some in ring training like she’s never seen before.
{Captain 80s}
AHOY ANNIE FUGATE, MISTRESS OF DARKNESS. THE CAPTAIN MUST INFORM YOU THAT IT IS NEVER GOOD TO TALK TO YOURSELF IN THE HALLOWED HALLS OF UGWC. PEOPLE MIGHT BEGIN TO TALK AND SAY THINGS ABOUT YOU.
{Annie “Midnight” Fugate}
First do you have to yell? Second I don’t care what these idiots think about me. Third, can’t you go bother someone else?
{Captain 80s}
THE CAPTAIN IS NOT SHOUTING MISTRESS OF DARKNESS. THE CAPTAIN IS ONLY SPEAKING SO HIS WORDS CAN BE HEARD. AND YOU SEEM LIKE A PERSON THAT COULD USE SOME WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT. AND IT IS THE CAPTAIN'S JOB TO MOTIVATE AND INSPIRE HIS FIRST MATES (#HASHTAG) SO THEY CAN BECOME..
Annie groans and rolls her eyes. She walks off but the Captain follows close behind her.
{Captain 80s}
YOU CAN NOT WALK AWAY FROM DESTINY FIRST MATE FUGATE. IF ELIZABETH BLACKWELL MASTER OF NIGHTMARES IS LOSING FAITH IN YOU, YOU MUST DO SOMETHING TO RESTORE THAT FAITH. I SUGGEST...
Annie stops walking and puts her hand up, stopping Captain 80s. She turns slowly to face him.
{Annie “Midnight” Fugate}
How’d you know about that?
{Captain 80s}
THE CAPTAIN KNOWS ALL, SEES ALL. HE SEES THE DOUBT IN HER EYES AND THE FRUSTRATION IN YOUR EYES. THAT’S WHY HE SUGGESTS HIS FIRST MATE FUGATE DOES SOMETHING TO RESTORE HER BOND WITH HER YOUNG WARD. MAYBE SOMETHING YOUNG BLACKWELL COULDN’T DO. THAT’S THE WAY TO
Annie suddenly smiles. An idea has come to her mind. She takes a few steps forward, shaking her finger.
{Annie “Midnight” Fugate}
That’s actually not a bad idea. And I have just the thing in mind. I guess I owe you...
She turns to face Captain 80s but he is gone. Annie looks around confused, having no clue where the guy went. She finally just shrugs it off.
{Annie “Midnight” Fugate}
That guy is so weird.
She walks back toward the office where a bulletin board is hanging. She finds her name on the Chill sign up and writes next to it: I want Roxy Cotton. She smirks as she replaces the pen and heads back down the hall. Of course she has no problem with Roxy. But beating Roxy could prove a lot for her. She returns to the locker room where this time she just walks in. Elizabeth is off the phone and is warming up. She glances at Annie as she walks in.
{Elizabeth Blackwell}
There you are Annie. Where have you been?
Annie wants to rip into Liz for what she heard earlier. But now is not the time. She can do all the “I told you sos” after Chill. Annie just shrugs at her.
{Annie “Midnight” Fugate}
Don’t worry about it. How’s your dad doing?
{Elizabeth Blackwell}
He’s doing fine. He had a perforated ulcer. They cauterize it and all his other vitals returned to normal. He is home now, resting comfortably. I hired a nurse to go by once or twice a day while I’m on the road. Just in case. Thanks for asking. Didn’t think you cared.
{Annie “Midnight” Fugate}
Sure I care. If it’s important to you it is important to me. We are friends after all.
{Elizabeth Blackwell}
You hardly ever refer to me as a friend. Are you sure you are okay? This is all because your whole “Pull the Plug” campaign went down when Maya woke up huh?
{Annie “Midnight” Fugate}
Like I care that the little hobgoblin is awake. If she happens to show up here, I’ll knock her into a coma she will never get out of. Now let’s go closer to ringside so we can watch Kem squash the little ice princess.
Annie turns and walks out of the room without another word. Liz follows behind her, closing the door and ending the scene.
SCENE 2: Just an Example (08-??-18)
The new scene opens up on a cloudy night sky. The moon is currently covered by clouds. Finally the clouds move away to reveal the Mean Machine School of Wrestling in Las Vegas Nevada. Sitting on the sign is Annie Fugate wearing black pants that have a crescent moon in the top corner and stars spread across them and a plain black shirt. She has the HSW Women’s title over her shoulder. She looks at the title as she talks.
{Annie “Midnight” Fugate}
I might have gotten my start in the eWe almost ten years ago. And over my career there, I never really shined. I had a couple of good matches, mostly with my former sister in tga team action. I even held the Televixen title, a championship anyone could win. Something you’d see if you looked at the list of losers who held that belt like Kelly and the little goblin Maya. It wasn’t until I joined HSW last year that I hit my stride. Not only did I make waves in the World title tournament before I was eliminated, I was the first and only Women’s champion. I destroyed everyone who got in my way. Sadly the HSW closed and I was left without a home. Sure I had Liz to train and I followed her to LAW and then to UGWC. But aside from a match last Chill and a few joke matches at Wrestlestock, I’ve been quiet since November of last year. And the talking has begun.
She drops down off the sign and leans back against it. She places the title around her waist as she talks.

{Annie “Midnight” Fugate}
I can see doubt sliding into Liz’s mind. I can see that she might be doubting my skills. That is when I was given an idea. I need to do something she couldn’t do. I need to accomplish a task that she herself failed. You see in LAW, Elizabeth had a title shot. Against Roxy Cotton. And liz put up one heck of a fight for being as new as she was. But she failed. Roxy handed her a tough loss. Now I’m going to show her exactly how you knock off someone like Roxy.
Annie crosses her arms over her chest. She gives the camera a cocky smile.
{Annie “Midnight” Fugate}
I don’t care anything about you Roxy. You are barley a bleep on my radar. But fate has placed us against each other. Well no, it was actually me asking for it. Because I must use you as an example. I’m going to show Liz exactly how you can be beaten. And I’ll show her that no matter how much she has improved, she still has light years to go before she is on my level. You see Roxy, I remember some of the things you said about me when you faced Liz. Something about how the person who trained you could easily beat me. Well since that person isn’t around, let’s see how you do. The one and only HSW Women’s champion against the last LAW Chaos champion. A match worthy of pay per view free to the losers who tune into Chill every month.
Annie looks back at the dark building, reminiscing quietly about old times. She looks back at the camera, a cocky smirk returning to her face.
{Annie “Midnight” Fugate}
The one thing I need you to realize Roxy is how much more you need this win than I do. You are coming off a tough loss at Day of Reckoning to Travis Pierce to fail to win the title. You need to beat me to get back in the title hunt. All I need to beat you for is to make an example out of you. To the small minded, that would mean you have the advantage. But true veterans know it puts you at a disadvantage. You are going to be reckless. You are going to be careless. And all it will take from me is one Stroke of Midnight to end your night. And if your little Maxi Pad wants to get involved, I’ll kick her teeth down her throat as well. That is of course if she can get past Liz. Liz still feels like Maxine cost her the title against you in LAW. Whatever, she is one to hold grudges for a long time.
Annie walks over to the stairs in front of the arena. There is a longboard put across the top the Annie climbs up on and walks to the middle of..
{Annie “Midnight” Fugate}
To be honest with you Roxy, I’ve never been in this kind of match before. But I love the concept of it. All I have to do to win is throw you off. Might be harder said than done since your head is so full of hot air. You’ll probably float. But a few well placed kicks should drain the air out of your head. And then you will fall to your loss. Or I’ll walk over and capture your flag. Or maybe just for the thrill of it, I’ll jump off the scaffold with a Lunar Eclipse and pin you in spectacular fashion. Either way I choose to end our match, the result is you lose Roxy. Your losing streak continues and you see that in LAW you were a small fish in a medium sized pond. In UGWC, you are a minnow in the ocean. I’m going to take everything away from you Roxy. And it’s just because you are in the wrong place at the wrong time. On Chill Roxy, you will succumb to the darkness..
The clouds once again cover the moon, casting a darkness over the scene. With nothing in view, the camera finally fades out.
