Friday Night…
I glanced at the phone as Angie Vaughn’s chipper face flashed across the screen. I felt an ache in the pit of my stomach, then it abated as I quickly hit the ignore button. It wasn’t the first time. I had ignored Angie’s calls and texts for days since the conclusion of Battleground. There was no shame in losing to Angie and Dave, I had done that before and I had done it with grace and class…but the issue with Dave attacking Roxy…LIKE A GOAT-FACED COWARD…and Angie giving him a pass had burned me up inside. The icing on the cake was that Roxy was okay with it.
A text message from Angie; I deleted without even reading it. Truly, what could she say that I could possibly care about? She had turned her back on me AND Roxy, but Roxy had her nose buried too far in her ass to even care! What did this #CoolKids shit even mean without loyalty to one another?
I picked up the phone, ready to just shut the thing off. I didn’t want to see or hear from Angie OR Roxy right now…not until I absolutely had to with our LFL game tonight. It was going to be awkward, but this was business and I was a professional. However, to my surprise it was an alert from the Hit Girls team Twitter account, referencing my match on Monday against Elizabeth Blackwell…
With everything going on, I had nearly forgotten all about Chill #5 and my submission match against one of my primary wide receivers. WKRP radio hadn’t forgotten, and they made sure that no one else did either…
‘…Kenzi is a petty bitch these days…’
It was just one more thing to chap my ass and I was sick of it! I was sick and tired of ALL of it! I fired up my #CoolTube live stream as I decided to address all of these issues publicly…if for no other reason than to be left the hell alone!
“Kenzi Grey checking in here! I know a lot of you have been ‘pretending’ to care about me for the sake of all the people that actually think you care about your friends. Well, you can stop pretending you give a shit because at this point you are only fooling yourself, okay?”
“This message is for Liz Blackwell…”
“I saw your tweet about me not throwing to you tonight, and I wanted to let you know that I am NOT that kind of person! You know the type? The person who puts themselves ahead of doing the right thing…a selfish person!”
“Yeah, I know you know the type because you dealt with something similar with Annie when she turned on you. I saw the shock on your face and I felt the hurt inside you when I watched the video shot afterwards, trying to figure out why she would do something like that? Trust me, it wasn’t to teach you a lesson, it was to elevate herself above you! She used you and as soon as she caught you with your guard down, she took advantage and made sure she got over, regardless of how it made you look.”
“I am walking in your shoes right now Liz. My two closest friends stabbed me in the back, but trust me, I won’t do that to you. I am going to throw the ball to you and do everything in my power to show everyone that while our team might not win, we function as a unit and we have each other’s backs…ALWAYS!”
“Maybe to others, the thought of that sounds ridiculous, especially since we will be facing each other on Chill just a few days later, but believe me when I tell you this; I can separate those two things just fine…as long as I know where everyone stands. At Battleground I thought I knew where I stood, but I was sadly mistaken. On Chill, there is absolutely no doubt! Regardless of what happens during our game, win or lose, I know when you come down that aisle on Monday night, you are coming down as ‘The Nightmare.’ There’s no guessing about where you stand or what you’re coming to do. I appreciate that…more than you know.”
“I told all of UGWC that I was done with Chill and I wouldn’t appear on that show ever again, but sometimes you say things which end up being lies…things like ‘we are like sisters.’ My mother made a liar out of me as far as Chill is concerned and because of that, I will see you in the ring on Monday night. That being said, that is the last lie you can expect out of me. When that bell rings, I am going to take the lesson my 'sisters' taught me at Battleground and I am going to teach it to you Liz…maybe it will help you.”
“Friendship and family don’t have a place inside the ring. The only thing that matters is winning, by hook or by crook. Don’t treat your opponent like a person, you treat them like rungs on a ladder; a ladder to take you to the top of the business. That is how I got treated, only no one bothered to smarten me up to that fact. I am doing you the favor of letting you know ahead of time. Tonight you are my friend and my teammate, but on Monday night…I intend to step all over you to get what’s important! I hope you understand…”
“…FRIENDS DON’T MATTER!”
“…OUR BOND DOESN’T MATTER!”
“…ONLY ONE THING MATTERS…winning…”
“I’m going to tap you out and after I’m done I’m going to forget that this night ever happened…because that is what friends do! See you in Columbus…friend.”
I shut off the feed…more than done with all of this! Especially my so-called friends!
