A history discussion with Konrad's mental trainer. Chicago, Illinois. Friday 29th March
The second show in a row that Konrad lead himself to compete on the Chill brand, using it to improve himself on his wrestling skills. Most wrestlers take a day off away from wrestling, but Konrad wasn't like that. He always wants to bust his butt every single week, tightening his fists, planting his feet wide. Konrad and Jerry Flack sit on the sofa in the living room, leading Jerry rapidly blinking his eyes, shrugging his shoulders, holding his head with his hands.
Konrad knew how important it was to even get down to discussing to Jerry about the history as today, the discussions about the recent happenings in wrestling weren't relevant to what Konrad has to talk about. Jerry removes his hands from his head before speaking to Konrad.
Jerry Flack: “What's this match against Chris Matthews about? Somehow, it seems like I still don't know everything about you.”
Konrad Raab: “Oh, the whole thing is me, and Chris discussed the match on the phone. Many years since Total Wrestling Entertainment match we had for the Heavyweight title back in two thousand and fifteen, we always wanted a rematch against each other. We had Harvey Jordan, involved as well.”
Jerry Flack: “Oh, so this was going way back before any of the companies you competed in existed?”
Konrad Raab: “I know Rebellion Pro didn't exist in two thousand and fifteen and I didn't even hear about UGWC, until after Markus Lord Raab competed in the trios tournament last year. SCW did exist and are heard of, but I didn't join them until after TWE closed down.”
Jerry rubs his chin, slightly shaking his head as he says this.
Jerry Flack: “Tell me what happened in TWE with that match in particular?”
Konrad Raab: “Things were going down on that night, especially with President Anderson who hated my guts, trying to cost me the title on every opportunity he had. When it came down to it and me, Chris had me pinned for the three count to win the Heavyweight title from me, all because President Anderson said I was too nice to be a champion and TWE weren't making much money.”
Jerry Flack: “So Chris decided to call you and to make things happen with the match, right?”
Konrad nodded, sighing to himself as he's always wanted to face Chris Matthews after that match due to the screw job that went on with him and Chris with President Anderson, doing anything to get involved.
Jerry Flack: “How was that even the case that TWE weren't making much money as you as champion?”
Konrad Raab: “That's dumbass President Anderson for you. He always was stupid to mention something like that. Even Chris at the time due to the passing of his friend who died from cancer, Ryan Reigns felt he got handed the title because of President Anderson's screw job to screw me from winning the title.”
Jerry nods his head, getting a clear view now of the potential history between Chris Matthews and himself, even to the point of Konrad saying this about Chris.
Konrad Raab: “Chris has also been there for me as well. There were moments in my career, I've thought of ending my life because of the hell this business has given me at times, but Chris beat the shit out of me to say, don't be a pussy, be a man who pushes himself forward. He also said for me to think about Fizz and my kids as well.”
Jerry Flack: “So you both are good friends?”
Konrad Raab: “Not exactly as there was still a bit of beef between me and Chris. I wouldn't say we get along now even, well then again; it's because of the upcoming match. That's the thing with me, and Chris Matthews is we're very competitive men, especially we have a lot in common, regarding being apart of the army.”
Jerry Flack: “Army?”
Wide eyes appeared on Jerry's face, not expecting to hear something like that from Konrad. Once again, it seemed like Jerry was getting to know Konrad more every single day. Konrad nods at Jerry and goes into a bit of detail about it.
Konrad Raab: “Yeah, I wasn't a strong kid at school, wasn't able to fight back or even stand up for myself. My dad was so strict and hard that he sent me to the army to learn how to toughen up as a man. He saw me as a weak son, and I've had to go through a ton of hell. Chris was in the marines, so we had almost the same paths.”
Jerry Flack: “I had no idea about any of this. It's the first time after knowing you for all those months; I got to hear about you being in the army. It's sad your dad forced you to be in the army because you weren't a mentally and psychically tough kid. I can see where that comes from.”
Konrad Raab: “Anyway, we discussed our times in the army and marines. I've seen Chris's family and himself a few times as well. It may seem like I don't have friends, but I do. I can't find the time to socialise with people; that's all.”
Jerry knew it was time for him to note down the main parts of Konrad's story, seemly he had a very hash dad who wanted his sons to be strong and toughen up with themselves which seemed to be a problem Konrad struggles with still today.
Jerry Flack: “That's now in the past Konrad. You can move on from it by not dwelling the past about the stuff that's gone down. I know you and Chris are going to have a very competitive match against each other as you both wanted to face against each other for quite some time.”
Konrad Raab: “We do, and it gives me a break from thinking about only UGWC issues for a change too. I spoke to Ichabod straight after the phone call I had with him right away when Chris wanted me in a match which he accepted the offer to wrestle me in UGWC for one night only. We also chose Iron Man match because to test ourselves and knows Chris would easily beat me on stamina.”
Jerry Flack: “That's because of your age. You know you can't ever improve on stamina, although you said you have a bit. It does cost you. However, I know Iron Man is more suitable for you and Chris since there's mutual respect between the two from what it sounds like.”
Konrad Raab: “Indeed and I respect him not just as a wrestler, but as a person as well. The fact he discovered a few months ago he has a kid is amazing. He's a great dad and knows Ryan will always watch him above. It was a big thing with Ryan Reigns as we had a whole show, dedicated to a great man who passed away with cancer. I went to the funeral and saw how emotional, although he doesn't seem it in person he can be.”
Although Konrad's aware how much of a threat Chris Matthews is, after all, he's lost against him for a good reason, even if Konrad didn't lose the match for himself and was a lot to do with President Anderson screwing Konrad over.
Jerry Flack: “So, what have you got to be aware of to look out for?”
Konrad Raab: “He's a very dangerous technical and submission wrestler, and he can also find ways to cheat to win matches because he tries to catch you off guard to win the match. Chris is a major threat to me, and I have to find a way to beat him. Of course, things will be different this time around because there's no President Anderson to screw me from winning the match.”
Jerry Flack: “More of a straight up war between the two of you with the iron man match. What do you have to do to win that?”
Konrad Raab: “You get a set time limit and whoever captures the most pinfalls after the time limit is up, wins the match. Pretty much like a singles match, but with being able to capture as many pinfalls as you can to win the match.”
Jerry nods, seeing how much Konrad wants to go to the gym as he goes into his room and packs his things as he knew if he was going to stand any chance of winning the match, it was to do a ton of stamina training. Jerry places four bottles of water in Konrad's gym bag, along with the critical protein bar, a banana and bag of nuts to put in the bag.
Jerry Flack: “Stamina is key to work on, even if you can't improve more than Chris can because of your age, but you'll go out there and do everything possible to win against Chris with a large amount of history you both have.”
Konrad Raab: “Indeed and UGWC are very lucky to have a one-off match of me and Chris, bringing the best match that will leave the fans to stand on their feet. Now, let me be, and I'll go to the gym. We'll talk about the recent UGWC stuff next week.”
Jerry nodded, one of the few things he agreed with as it was more important to talk about the past in this case since Konrad usually moves on from things pretty rapidly. He places his bag over his shoulder and leaves the house to enter the gym and doing nothing, but stamina training for two hours before he came back home,

Facing a very well respected opponent with history youtube.com shoot.
“Just like how we planned it Chris on you and me facing against each other in an Iron Man match. What happened in the past was that you weren't satisfied with the win you got to be the new TWE Heavyweight champion and I certainly wasn't, considering how much I was screwed to win the match against you and Harvey Jordan at the time. He clearly either wanted you or Harvey to win. You saw it for yourself you got pissed about it and rightfully so, much like myself too.
Not to forget us working in WWH together for quite a bit, even the part of me taking Paige Matthew's duties as a general manager for Inner Circle at the time because of her full extent of injuries from a female wrestler. I've always been there to help your family to solve problems when nobody was willing to help them.
Iron man match is something you know all too well how good I am in them, beating Randy Fields in this match back in two thousand and fifteen in TWE also. My stamina I have to admit isn't as good as it used to be due to my age, but one thing's for sure that's very different. I can do cruiserweight moves now compared to the past where I was just this big powerhouse wrestler.
Wanting to evolve myself of being a cruiserweight wrestler was very important because I wanted to do something new, doing something no man at my age would dare to do. I'm sure you'd understand Chris I've lost a ton of weight since you saw me last time around, although you knew that already when we worked together.
I always wonder why we never had a match in WWH before I shortly left the company due to a large family I have now, and I couldn't be in four companies. I struggle enough with the three I'm in at the moment. You know using submissions for Iron Man does not affect this match this time around.
You'll have to find a way to develop your skills to beat me because this time, without anybody being able to screw me, we'll see ourselves a deserving winner and the reason for the winning would be because one of us was the better wrestler on this night. It's on this night I thank Ichabod for allowing me and Chris Matthews have a place to fight, and it's also nice to say I've got no hatred towards Chris cos there's no reason for trashing him.
You will see what a proper wrestling match is like, despite my theory of you doing anything possible to get that win, even taking shortcuts to do so, but you know damn well more than anybody on the UGWC roster I won't be looking a way to cheat to win. I'm a fair man's wrestler, and a decent man will get as many pinfalls as he can to win.
I gained a ton of confidence as well now, and I've got no problem to say I will win and capture the most pinfalls from you because I can, and I will win this match, winning my second chill match in a row to finally close on the history between you and me. Good luck Chris and may the best man win tomorrow night as after the match is over, I offer to buy you a beer after I've defeated you in the match.”
