Unlike most stories, we have had a hard time finding a happy ending in the saga of War & Peace. Ezekiel Pax has been burned badly and still resides in a hospital in Los Angeles. Marek Daisuke is somewhere in Japan. Xavier Bryan has left Ezekiel in the care of his father while he went to look for Marek. Scarlet was recently booted out of Ezekiel’s room by his new doctor, the mysterious Dr. Ian Mavetti. Most of the updates given to the public have been on Ezekiel and Scarlet and have left the adventures of Xavier and Marek to the imagination. Until now.
The last time we saw Marek Daisuke, he was facing the team of Chintatsu Chen and Aragato, two thirds of the team affectionately known as Hiroshima. The match was a First Blood Strap Match for the GIW Tag Team Titles. In a match that saw several crazy spots, including Aragato dislocating his own shoulder, War & Peace lost the tag team titles. GIW’s First Ever Tag Champions were now officially GIW’s First Ever EX-Tag Champions.
Both members of the team disappeared directly after the PPV. Ezekiel reappeared a few weeks later claiming a re-birth of sorts after finding out that Raenius had dug up secrets from his past that he didn’t even know about. But, this isn’t about Ezekiel.
Nearly 8 months have gone by with no word on GIW’s resident Human Missile.
The scene opens to a dirty looking basement that looks like it would make the Extreme Home Make-over folks quit their job. Besides the gray, unkempt look of the room, most of its inhabitants are dressed in fine suits or dresses, minus a few here and there. In the center of the room is a small ring, similar to a sumo ring. The crowd is speaking loud in a Japanese until suddenly, a hush comes over the crowd and a man steps forward holding a microphone. He speaks swiftly in his native tongue.
“Shut up and listen. Today we have a special treat for you all. For those that have been following us closely, you know that our friends in Tokyo have been looking for a good challenge to take on the reigning champion in our ring.”
The man points at the ring and the crowd parts as a large man of European descent steps forward. A bruised cheekbone and a cut over his left eyebrow show proof that this man has taken a beating and gives way to any doubt that this room is for anything besides bloodshed.
“This man has won many battles and our brothers in Ishikawa promised that they would bring forth a solid competitor who could take this man down.”
The man lowers the microphone and looks out in the crowd. After a moment or two the man puts the microphone back to his mouth.
“Well? Where is this big surprise, brothers?"
A man steps forward and yanks the microphone away. He also speaks in Japanese to the bloodthirsty audience.
“I promised you all a surprise and I do have it. It took me a bit to get him here but he is here and I will deliver what I promised. He is the younger brother of the Ishikawa Executioner himself. Coming back home and losing his way in America, I give you... Jinsei”
Suddenly, a blur flies from the crowd and knocks the man with the microphone down. He grabs the microphone while looking down at his target. He places his foot on the mans chest for emphasis. And speaks in broken English.
“My name is Marek. I told you to never call me that again.” Marek takes his foot of the mans chest and turns towards his unnamed opponent. “I am sorry friend, but this is simply business.”
Suddenly, Marek tosses the microphone as the man looks up at it, Marek swiftly kicks him behind the knee, knocking down to one leg. Marek then steps on the mans bent knee and flies into the air straight above the man. The opponent looks up as Marek comes charging downward with a swift clothesline-like maneuver to the opponents throat. Marek lands on one knee and springs back to his feet as his opponent crumples into a heap, unconscious. Marek then leaves the room without saying a word. The scene fades as the first man with the microphone begins taking money from the audience as the crowd goes nuts.
The scene opens back up to some sort of ramshackle dressing room. Inside sits Marek. He is in a chair facing the door, tying his shoes. He is now fully dressed instead of just the pants we saw him in earlier. He gets to his feet as the door opens. The man who introduced him earlier isnow standing the doorway with two other very large men. Seemingly un-fazed from the attempted intimidation, Marek grabs the man by his collar and tosses him against the door frame. The two men step forward but the man puts his hand up. The two men step back as Marek speaks.
“This is over, Botan.” spat Marek, visibly upset. “I have fulfilled our bargain.”
Showing courage; the short, fat man known as Botan shoves Marek backward with fire in his eyes and replies back in Japanese. “You insolent little shit. I will say when this is over. You’re family owed me big time and a few fights isn’t going to settle it. Especially when you don’t even make it a fight. I told you before, even if you can win easily, draw it out.”
“Why? If I can win quickly, why not just end it?”
”Suspense, Jin--
Marek grabs Botan by his collar again and throws him to the ground. The two men take a step closer but still keep their distance. “This is your last warning, Botan. Call me that name again and your friends will be scraping you off the ground.”
Botan slowly gets to his feet, dusting himself off. ”A deal is a deal. One more fight and I will let you free of the debt your family owed and point you to the direction of your precious sister. One last fight.”
“How do I know that you will be honest?”
”Because if you win, you’ll never want to fight again. I got the perfect opponent for you. His name is Cormac. He is a big Irishman. Undefeated, just like the rest.
“So what makes him so special?”
You’ll see. I promise you that this will be the last one.” Botan smiles big and heads towards the door as his two bodyguards follow. Marek grabs his jacket and heads towards the door as the scene fades.
We open back up to Japan but it isn’t Marek we see this time. It is Xavier and he is on the phone outside of a market.
“Look, I got a good lead on Marek, alright? You just do what I said and pack your bags and head for Los Angeles. ... No. Like I said before, I am not doubting his ability to recover but he may not be 100%. I need your help if we are to get revenge on these Covenant pricks. ... You’re damn right I’m holding a grudge, the bastards disfigured me and damn near killed Ezekiel. ... I’m asking you because I know I can count on you. ... Alright. He is at the county hospital, just ask for Doctor Mavetti and tell him Xavier sent you. ... Thanks, man. ... See you around.”
Xavier hangs up the phone and heads into the market as the scene fades.
