Induction:
Dr. Hans Lieberjosch walks out to the podium.
Lieberjosch: It is an honor to be here today to introduce our next Inductees, as the Unified Global Wrestling Coalition’s preeminent authority on the history, culture and theory of this fine sport I am uniquely positioned to highlight the importance of the latest members of the UGWC Hall of Fame.
It cannot be disputed, by anyone with fully functioning eyes, that UGWC has a fine history of playing host to a number of significant and impressive Stables over the years. From the memorable antics of The Human Resource Department, the chaotic and compelling chapters of the Devil’s Most Wanted, the internal tensions of The Puppet Masters, the stunning success and catastrophic implosion of The Syndicate, to the meteoric rise and stuttering disappearance of the #Coolkids, the Unified Global Wrestling Coalition has never suffered a shortage of incredible and memorable groupings.
The names I have listed are some of the most compelling, entertaining and successful acts this industry has ever witnessed, however none of them come close to tonight’s inductees in terms of their importance to the history of groupings in this business. In years to come people will still speak highly of them, they will still be recognised for the incredible records they broke and moments they created, but none of them made us question just how we look at what a Stable can be. Our Inductees today did just that.
Their induction is not due to the titles they captured, it is because they captured something far more rare, our imagination. They took the very concept of what a stable had been accepted to be and tossed it aside for what they believed it should be. They were not a vehicle to ultimately improve the individual aspirations of each of its members once they inevitably moved on from their alliance to pastures new. They were four individuals with the same goal; to change the industry, and they trusted each other without hesitation or doubt.
While many groups claimed to have the same basis for their alliances, no-one ever truly encompassed such claims. No-one has ever followed through with such claims of unity as these four men, who said you face us all when you face just one. Their opponents were forced to prepare for their encounters with more focus and intensity than any challenge they had faced before. They celebrated success as one, and tasted defeat as one. Never before have four men put their careers in the hands of their comrades so totally and fully as these men did.
It is my genuine honor and privilege to introduce you to the latest members of UGWC’s Hall of Fame...The Engine of Chaos.
An unfamiliar young woman takes the stage and approaches the podium and steps up to address the crowd seriously.
Spokesperson: The concept of a “Hall of Fame” is antithetical to what the Engine of Chaos represented. If you were around when they were a cohesive unit, you’ll remember them winning multiple championship belts across multiple promotions, and taking them back to some undisclosed storage area to toss them onto a pile. The accolades were not the point, only a byproduct of their vision.
She opens a bottle of water and takes a sip.
Spokesperson: Many to this day still hold up the Engine’s excellent championship record as proof of their desire to be celebrated with gold. This predictable sentiment is evidence that the Engine was far ahead of their time, and that their mission will be misunderstood for ages to come.
The audience has very mixed reactions. Some are cheering, some are annoyed, and some are simply confused.
Spokesperson: If you thought the Engine, which is fractured beyond any hope of repair at this point, would come together to humbly accept this dubious prize--and you’re wondering why I’m here instead--then you’re one of the people I’m talking about.
That statement turned those on the fence against her, and perhaps against the Engine of Chaos.
Spokesperson: That being said, the members recognize this nomination to the Hall of Fame for what it is - though their impact cannot truly be fathomed, it is felt by nearly everyone here in one way or another. If you think you’ve never interacted with Rogan MacLean, Holden Orson, Ichabod, or Gabriel Baal… I guarantee you have and just haven’t realized it yet.
Some of the more obvious people in the audience nod, but others reflect for a few moments before also nodding.
Spokesperson: And so, individually, they each decided that the award should be accepted, and elected that I should come and collect it and transport it to the storage area to join the rest of the pile. Thank you.
With that, she collects the plaque and exits the stage without any further conclusion.
